Hey, I've been watching your videos and I love all the work and attention to detail that you do to your trucks. Beautiful trucks! I recently started working on my 66 c10 with plans of a resto/mod just by doing everything myself. Thanks for uploading, I've learned so much!

Not sure if its been said already by someone else but if you're even in a spot where your mig just is not hot enough, give it a preheat of a few hundred degrees with whatever torch, and itll give it that little extra it needs.

Just found your videos the other day. I am in the process of restoring my 66 c10. Doing pretty much all the work myself except some rust patching (I don't weld!) The hubby has been doing some teaching with things that I am not familiar with but much I am just watching videos and jumping in and learning!

Can’t say I’ve ever seen you do anything I disagree with, but one of my favorite things you did on your red truck is how you left the gas cap on the side of the cab for looks. It just belongs there. Preserves the original look and it makes the young’ans ask questions...and you can get young’ans to believe just about anything these days. 😜 “Yeah, son, back in the day, if you were low on fuel, a Boeing KC-135 could fly in and put its refueling nozzle right in there as you were goin’ down the road!”

No worries with the tank in the cab. In my 61 I didn't like smelling the fumes. Also it will give you some extra legroom, you can slide the seat back further.

I have a 60 Apache. Do you ever have the issue with the hose clamp on the rubber filler neck hose leaking? I try tightening it but it seems like the hose collects gasoline in the bottom pocket and it makes my truck smell like gas. Can’t figure out how to fix it
@weaton25
@weaton25 3 года назад
I may be wrong but I always thought that the safest place to have the fuel tank was behind the seat like this some old cars used to have it behind the rear passenger seat over the rear axle also a good place I have a Jeep WJ with the tank at the back not a safe place in my mind as with yours if you put it at the back someone goes into the back of you and it bursts in to flames.

JKImpala66 did not sand between coats, 3 coats of red and 3 coats of clear. then colorsand and buff

Always enjoy your vedios. I have a 70 C/10 stepside I want to restore. I notice you go about projects in a way that is very easy to follow. What kind of / model welder do you use? I want to get one and don't want to waste money on too much power and don't want to be cheap and not be able to produce good sheet metal welds.

I’m curious to know whether any accommodation is needed when installing the auxiliary fuel tank for chassis flexion. Is the custom tank bolted on in such a way to allow for some frame movement, so the tank won’t be flexed? Or maybe this is not a true concern...
@Gibson63.
@Gibson63. 5 лет назад
asmith515151 I guess it’s not a big concern everyone else is moving the tank to the rear of these trucks nowadays
@mafosa8519

Gibson63 Really fun watching! On my rear tank ( which is aluminum). The welds started to crack. I think because of that bottom rail isn’t perfectly flat and frame shift. I just bought a universal strap kit and “ cut it to length “ I think it looks better too. Thanks for sharing your build by the way! Larry

lifestylemodification The Cab tank will be removed after I install the rear tank, this is just to get me going for the spring
@kgroombr

You are definitely meticulous. Curious why you bolted and welded the fuel tank brackets? One or the other would be adequate, and both is overkill.
@Gibson63.
@Gibson63. 5 лет назад
Kenton Groombridge I only welded the bracket the bolts were to hold them in place so I can weld them. then the bolts were removed to later go through the fuel tank brackets

Never Understood Why The Engineers Would Put A Gas Bomb,Right Behind Where People Are Smoking.
@dustinsirrine227
@dustinsirrine227 5 лет назад
scbnrh; Maybe people shouldn't be smoking in these old truck Cabs unless they want to go to there own BBQ... GM did alot of testing with the strangth of the Cab for side enpacks and it's most likely safer being mounted inside the Cab then being exposed in the open rear area hanging down under the frame making it more dangerous if you have someone rearend you. If the system is sealed up properly you shouldn't have any problems. It's much safer then say riding a motorcycle with a three to five gallon bomb next to your manhood and alot of people have no problem doing that LOL... If you have a leak somewhere "Fix It" otherwise your just making the odds in your favor much higher of going to your own BBQ... Keep On Trucking Brother C10 owner's...
