How did you cool this? I have a 3671... The power supply is supposed to have the fan UP, since there is nothing to vent on the bottom, no holes for venting or anything. How have you handled this over time??? Without venting, and adding a good video card I'm imagining the case got extremely hot!

Sorry, looks like I never answered this. Easiest would be to point fan up towards motherboard. This PC has poor air flow/venting..so potentially not a good idea if you want to keep the LH access panel on. If you had access to a drill press, creating a hole pattern that looks professional in the bottom, possibly adding a filter over and adding some legs to get this further off the ground would be best case. The PSU would be mounted with the fan facing down.

I would expect all ATX to work..but I only use EVGA in my videos. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which ones might not work.

Tempted to try this upgrade (with a hole cut out of the case to vent the PSU), do you think this setup will require additional fans for cooling or should it manage ok? Also thanks for all the vids, have been really useful in upgrading my pc!

I am thousands of miles from my 3670....but assuming it has feet and air can escape...probably good idea. Adding fans is tough...you would need to customize openings for them...and use Molex connectors.Fun project...why have I not done it yet?

Try the SFX PSU with the panel kit, that might solve the the fan cooling issue.

I tried to upgrade my psu for vostro 3670 but after plugging everything the computer will not turn on and is blinking orange light, so i am thinking that the 24 pin to 8 pin adapter is not working its a generic brand, and i was hoping if you know how to know if the adapter is the problem or something else. Edit: after more test turns out it may be the power supply; because doing the paperclip test(Jmping the PSU) the psu fan turns on for a second and switch off, but when i connect it to the adapter to motherboard it turns fully on. So i will change the power supply and see if it's the problem or not.

Is this recommended? I've heard the 1650 is bad so I want to install the 1660, but you need a better power supply... I need to know if this is safe...

David Noble I bought the CX 450M and Gigabyte GTX 1650 Super a few weeks ago after doing tons of research. Last minute, I found out my PSU wont correctly fit in the Inspiron. I need the fan mounted up, since theres no bottom ventilation in the case so I will have to use a few standoffs or unfortunately have the PSU not completely fastened in. Either way, I would have never expected standoffs to work in the situation so thanks for that fix.

Hello, in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8Q4K_KcHMf0.html around 6 min mark, I take a measurement of a Gigabyte RX -570 that I installed. It appears to be longer than the card you are referring to. I would not go any longer than the card I show as it was really difficult to get out. As for the PSU, the bolt pattern will bold up...fan will point into the case...which is not where you want it to exhaust. It doesn't seem to be a problem though. Beyond that, I can tell you if the rubber around where the AC plug goes will interfere. As you may have noticed...I used 6-32 standoffs to resolve it without modifying case or plug. Somewhere I have another video of a 850BQ by EVGA that fit with no problems. That said, I could only go off the picture...if the plug is more centered...you will be ok. If it is right on the perimeter, might be some headaches.

You are potentially right on the border and might get away with it. I have ran a GTX 1050TI, RX 460 in a HP desktop with similar wattage. If you find it rebooting at the heat of the action, you know you need more power. The main issue will be not hooking up additional peripherals and you might never need to upgrade the PSU. For about the same price you could also try for a GTX 1650. I would not make the purchase unless you know you can upgrade the PSU as a contingency plan.

There are lots of PSU's you can use...I have made a few videos with different PSU's...none of them are a perfect fit, but they will allow you to upgrade to a good GPU.

Could you please send me a link to the standoffs you purchased, along with the 1660ti? Also, would installing the evga 600/650 watt power supply you purchased and the 1660ti work on the Inspiron 3668?

Sorry for the delay. They are just the standoffs that you would get with a motherboard. Not all PSU's will have the issue of the receptacle interfering with the case structure, but as you can see for this one it was a work around.

UPDATE: I WAS USING A NEW PSU, AFTER PLUGGING IN AN OLDER ONE THERE SEEMS TO BE NO ISSUES. NEW PSU WAS A 500W BRONZE OLD PSU WAS A 600W GOLD. GPU IS A 1660S

Hello, considering i have installed a few different ones.....they all required a 24pin to 8pin adapter, may or may not have interference with the power cords receptacle on the PSU....I have used standoffs to work around this issue in one of my videos. PC should be 240/120V compatible.

Is the 550 watt just as good as 600 watt? Edit: will the corsair RM550 fit in the dell inspiron 3670? And will a RTX 2070 fit in the pc?

That extra 50W can be important. You have to know how much power you need for overall system power..and you want to have a buffer in there. In a custom build, I give myself about 100W. For this PC...100W is too much since it doesn't have all the peripherals...RGB, fans, extra drives...etc. I put in a 600W as it gave me more flexibility for GPU's. You are probably new to the channel...but at any one time, I have over 12 GPU's...and at least that number of CPU's. Here is video where I talk about the issues of putting in a large GPU: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8Q4K_KcHMf0.html When I had a RTX 2070...it was way too big to even think about fitting in there. You would need to find a 2070 mini. In the video I believe I discuss how long the card that I did put in was...and how much clearance there is to go bigger.

In a couple of them, I use 6-32 standoffs so the plug doesn't interfere with the case. What GPU are wanting to install? I believe there is a 400, 430, 500, 600, 650..etc version of this PSU. @@spearjuan8397 Hello, it depends on the model...some PSU's have the plug more centered and do interfere with the case. The standoffs screw into the 4 threaded holes on the PSU. You then line those up with the case and fasten them with 6-32 screws. In the case of the 600W EVGA white shown in this video...it was just enough to provide clearance to plug into the PSU. If you buy the 550W EVGA White...you may have same issue. In another video, I use a EVGA 850W GQ semi modular...I did not have to use the standoffs in that video.

Just get at hec HP485D 485W ATX12V Power Supply if you want to upgrade your Dell 3670 to a 485W PSU without any modifications to the case or airflow issues.

Hello, thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I have tried another OEM power supply. It was only 365W, but had same issues this one will have...need 24 pin to 8 pin ATX adapter, need adapter for 2x SATA or 2x Molex to 8 pin..difficult to do cable management...etc. I do like the price range of some of the HP PSU...and potentially, you are on to something to find an almost perfect PSU. I say almost perfect because of the adapter (s)...and still not enough power to put in a RTX 2060S or RTX 2070S mini. :) Did you have any issues with the Receptacle interference with the frame?

@@PC_HardwareTechUnboxing_1 Maybe a gold rated modular PSU 600w should do the trick for RTX cards. No need for creating vents at the bottom of the case (gold rated, taking a chance). And there should be better air flow and may look neater since it is modular (fewer loose cables). I have a cooler master 525w extreme 2 (its old, second hand) powering my zotac 2060 twin fan 6GB OC (am considering upgrading the PSU some time, just to be safe)

You will need a PSU upgrade and a a 24pin to 8 pin PSU adapter. I did install a GTX 1660 in mine with a SATA to 6 pin PCIE connector in my 3670 Inspiron, but it really was not a good idea.

@@3li9p37I have installed RX-550, 560 570 5500 xt/ GTX 750 1050 1050-TI 1060 1650 1650S 1660/ RTX 2060S . I have never had an issue I couldn't fix and you can see most of those videos on YT. That said, there are plenty of folks that I have heard comments that they got black screen. I can't tell you that you won't have any problems though I would say it is about 90% possible it will work just fine. Sorry, I can't give you the 100%...but in computers anything's possible. I could install 10 different GTX 1660's and one of them might not work.

It would be rather difficult and when I get back to Virginia in a couple of months, I might look into it further. The issues that I can see: 1) Front panel connectors don't have connectors on the Dell motherboard. 2) The On/Off button is directly tied into the motherboard (if I remember correctly) 3) Screw pattern is most likely not the same. 4) Potentially, it won't line up with the I/O shield opening of a regular mid tower or smaller. Best bet for making this a gaming computer is really to leave the upgraded PSU out of the case for proper cooling...if you go with a big graphics card, get a ribbon extender.

dell have the worst case ever if you want to change gpu normally you need to change 5 more things for 200 $

You really only need a 5 00 watt power supply for a 1650 super or 1660 TI once you put the power supply in a 1660 TI is about all you're going to get into that computer so you might as well put a GTX 1650 super because it actually is a stronger card than the 1660ti on paper or you might as well somehow Grandma GTX 1660 super they're in the $200 range now you're not going to be able to put any extra fans on the side for an exhaust fan to get the heat out got to add two fans to get air in and then you have to have an exhaust fan on the side then you've got yourself enough cooling and it keeps nice and cool a GTX 1660 TI enemies a waste when you got a GTX 1650 super that outperforms it and then you go into a GTX 1660 super then it's a completely different leg that's better than a RTX 350 and just under performs at RTX 360 so I think all the 20 cards are worthless but none of those will fit anyhow so you have to go with a GTX 1660 TI single fan blower if they make one I'm not sure I'm sure they do you need the card as short as you can get to stay out of the way of all the wires and the power supply almost virtually impossible to wrap them all up in that little tiny space between the power supply and the front of the computer
