My fireplace is a Heatilator, and the blower is a GFK4A. I got the blower from www.fireplaceblowersonline.com, and they have a really good video on how to install it here: • GFK4 GFK4A Fireplace B...
We just added a blower to our Heatalator unit. There is a gap under the box that draws cool air that is heated and radiates out of the vent along the top. With our ceiling fan on reverse it would warm the room several degrees, although below about 2 feet it would also draw cool air across the floor. Anyone seated in the room can feel the uncomfortable chill. The blower certainly helps expel the heated air, but at even its lowest speed setting it just exacerbates the situation with a stronger draw of cool air. The answer, of course, is to draw the air from outside. Hopefully a modification can be made without having to replace the whole thing.
Hi Brian, does the fireplace blower pull air from the fire fumes? Gas fireplaces emit carbon monoxide among other pollutants. Would this not push those exhaust fumes into the living room?
Worthless video as far as replacement-installation value. Doesn’t show how blower is removed or reinstalled, or where it even is located. Plus, no one removes - rebooks wiring that fast.
