how would you find out where a leak is underground under the grass I cant find the leak but I loose so much water. it was working for a year and the grass was thick and green. So now it is hard to get to the drip line. Thank you if you can help
It may not be ideal, but you might try running the system a bit longer than normal until you find a "squishy" place in your lawn, then try to find the center of that area and dig strategically to search for the leak. Be sure to make clean cuts under the roots of your lawn though so you minimize the damage to it. Just my two cents. I'm not a professional and I don't have an underground system, but I am a serious DIYer and considering installing one.
You can't. I've been doing this for 26 years since I was 15 and every time someone says "why is my grass dying" I say "cause you put under ground watering system." You cant account for roots clogging the holes or for under ground critters and what's worse you can't evenly water the corners with out overwatering the center of the lines.
You lost me at 25 years. Sounds good for an appliance but even at 25 years if my grass is beautiful and its growing and doing what its supposed to, if the system breaks in 25 year I'm not going to want to tear up the whole lawn remove and replace dirt and start over? It would have to last a lifetime and nothing does that. Love this idea though.
Horrible idea. I had to rip out an entire yard just because my customer had their yard aerated destroying everything underneath. Also, in thicker lawns it is very difficult to pinpoint small leaks. Garbage of an idea!
