From Torq Locker website:
The TORQ Locker is the most advanced, strongest, highest quality automatic locking differential on the planet, proven in the most extreme vehicles-from hard-core Rock Crawling, racing the King of the Hammers and Rock Bouncing, to Sand Dunes and Mud Drags. To back this all up, Torq-Masters Industries offers an unprecedented 4 year warranty on the TORQ Locker with no tire size, horsepower limits or loopholes. Torq-Masters Industries is committed to building the highest quality locking differentials possible. To be the best, we build with the best. The TORQ Locker is 100 percent Made in the USA with 100 percent USA raw materials.
Keep it simple. No air-lines to leak, compressors to fail, cables to adjust or electrical gremlins. The TORQ Locker gives you piece of mind as a reliable, 100% mechanical automatic locker that can handle any terrain.
The innovative design features of the TORQ Locker give you three game-changing benefits:
1. Strongest drop-in automatic locker design on the market. The machined keyway design of the cam gears can't shear, ever.
2. Easiest locker on the market to install because it has no spacers, no dowel pins, no cables, no air or electrical lines.
3. Best On-Road manners of any automatic locker; by eliminating the ‘spacer’ found in all other drop-in lockers, the TORQ Locker eliminated the occasional loud pop associated with this style of locker.
To build the TORQ Locker, Torq-Masters Industries demands the highest quality control standards, protocol and materials. The TORQ Locker is CNC machined from USA made 9310 steel alloy for maximum durability and long life, using proprietary manufacturing processes in an ISO 9001 certified facility. TORQ Locker components are then heat treated with proprietary procedures in a TS16949 certified facility with 100 percent quality audits utilizing electron microscopy testing. Quality control of this caliber is rare in the aftermarket off-road industry, but Torq-Masters goes the extra mile to build the best because you deserve the best.

Probably a good idea to tap the 1/4 inch hole for the breather before you put the diff cover on. That way no metal shavings get into the diff. Thanks for the video!

Ran into an issue: Needed to take the provided circlips out of the locker and put them in my axle ends. This wasn’t in the video but I’ve seen other people run into as well. It’s in small text in the installation guide. I’ll be doing a full breakdown video for my 02 outback h6 hopefully soon

My Forester is a 2011. I thought to replace the seals on each side just because they old, although not leaking. Any insight on this? Additionally my Forester has about 175000 miles with original CV axles. Perhaps replace since I am this far into disassembly?

I've heard diff bushings should be replaced if doing this, anything else recommend to replace that's not failing at the time, also is an alignment needed with what has to be loosened on the the control arms? Have one waiting to be installed! Thanks
@aint_onmyrocker
@aint_onmyrocker 2 года назад
You can replace the bushings while your down there. I didn’t because it didn’t look bad. Just visually inspect it. Not sure about an alignment. I didn’t not need one. If you do replace anything else while your down here, absolutely do your clutch pack in your transmission. You will have already had to take the parts off needed to across that

No it does not. Now does your locker click when your turn? Yes it does. But I drove 12k miles this summer bouncing around going coast to coast and had zero issues so far.

I did a 4.44 swap in my 92 SVX and didn't know these existed till now. I ended up loading the LSD carrier into the new 4.44 donor instead. I guess for streetability, the LSD provides for a smoother action and these lockers are meant for more offroad use. I'll definitely keep them in mind when I EJ swap my Justy. I did notice a difference between how I load the pumpkin vs how you did. I leave the lateral links alone and remove/install the axles as I'm lowering/raising the pumpkin in and out. It takes less time and I don't have to worry about possibly snapping the long bolts that are notorious for corrosion. That being said, I live in the desert, so corrosion isn't an issue, I just prefer the ease of removal/installation. What are your thoughts on this method vs the way you depicted in your video?
@aint_onmyrocker
@aint_onmyrocker 3 года назад
That’s a great swap! I would love to swap a 3.3 SVX motor into my forester. I definitely agree on the smoother action with the LSD. I have buddies who switch their locker off when on the street. I don’t, I run my all the time. Have to be careful of turning fast/ sharp. I also live in the desert and have no corrosion issues. It’s nice. I believe both ways are appropriate. Really comes down to how a person was taught, and their preference. John preferred to do it this way, so we did. I think the important part is making sure things go back together properly, and snug.

Don't you have to change the other differential as well?
@B1GDaddyFatStax
@B1GDaddyFatStax 2 года назад
@@donovanbonner7111 not unless you change gear ratios. Take the SVX for instance. It originally comes stock with an LSD in the rear, but open diff in the front. This makes the car very streetable. Putting a locker in the rear will make it bind noticeably more on the street, but still tolerable. Put it in the front also....then kiss street driving goodbye.
