You could have sprinkled some of your stone in there to fine tune the height.

Or maybe a whiteboard drawing explanation of everything prior to this point (the tire tank install) as far as the water system, pond size/angle, clay, lines running out, making leakproof, trenching and installing lines etc. Im fascinated by all this as ill have to do it on my own...

I almost cried... $10 for a defective tire and there were 200 of them? Yup that's an incredible deal considering how much they cost !!

I thought you said that you always fill the entire bottom with concrete, otherwise it won't completely drain and water will lay in the sidewall. Still trying to figure out what seals it so it doesn't leak. Just trying to plan this all out so I can install some. Thanks for the video, can't wait to see the rest of the install.

You're not concerned about the tire leaching chemicals into the drinking water? That's why I don't use them

I wish there was video of the new pond build and water line install. Later using a trencher? to run the line out to the tire and how that comes up into the tire. I guess you have other lines running to other possible tiretank sites also? As always, thanks for the invaluable education. Water install is the #1 infrastructure that is hard to record the whole process, kinda leaving me in mental limbo on how best to accomplish this foremost important task best ✌️

I Use a heat gun to unglue pvc. 8 reuse fittings! Great tank!

I have a question: Is there any possibility of the water being contaminated by the "rubber" or other ingredients that make the tire?

You guys are doing just fine.

We use tires from mining equipment & cut them in half & bury them in the ground w/ 12" to 16 " exposed . Never have to bank them & small calves can drink as calving is in May/ June . Use a round bale feeder to keep cattle out of tanks . It takes 2 bags of bentonite & 14 bags concrete . Fill it up w/ 6" water over the center . There is a 3" overflow w/ pee valve . I also have a smaller tank w/ a heat chimney & drink holes w/ a top & have No problem w/ winter watering

Any chemical leaching from tire into water or from concrete into water over time?

It is very nice to see the kangal dog of my own country. Kangal was born in the Turkish city of Sivas and spread all over the country and the world.

Try not to put so much water in the mix, you will have much stronger cement.

A video to go with the book! makes it that more understandable! we don't really have these type tanks around here.. Would tractor tyres work aswell, or do you need the height?

In Brasil we do but with used tyre a new tyre like this one costs a fortune around here. All the best Greg

I have a couple of self loading motor scrapers that use tires about that size, those things new are a good $2500 on the cheap side, they basically paid you to take it, lol. That'll make a fine tank!

So maybe the concrete expands enough to seal the joint or doesn't it matter if it leaks a little?

How did you decide the level of the tank with respect to the pond depth?? I assume the pond level will vary greatly throughout the year, so is the tank going to have a ball valve type water level control set up?

I am assuming you got the tire for free. What was wrong with it? It looks brand new?

Next time have some clean rocks available to fill up that last bit, just make sure that they are pushed to the middle.

How did you level the tank? Did you put your level using the bead in the bottom of the tank, or top of the tank or did you put some water in the tank to see how level it was?

Tires have known toxic chemical in them, so lets use them to store water in them. Yeh thats a good idea...😮

Dry concrete is definitely easier and works just as well. Just tamp it a little.
