I've got a 2000 GTi with fmic bigger td06 turbo pops and bangs wisent a fan of the golfs but am a convert now a bang always puts a smile on my face 230bhp at the wheels

I bought these coilovers from Raceland for my Mac for GLI. I ended up using this rear springs from my old coilovers and Old Spring perches just on the rear. This leveled it out and mystified me completely

I'm in the process of intalling coilovers on my mk4. The passenger side axle hits and won't allow me to drop the old shocks. I see you used your food to press the whole piece down but did you have to loosen any of the axle bolts?

Yeah especially when lowering more than 35mil, mate of mine has a mk4 anniversary on air ride and its the one thing he needs as when hes fully aired out and its on its arse the rear wheels look as tho there 6 inch off centre

How did you do up the nut after the top mount before the the nut after the top hat?

I had the issue of the driveshaft rubbing on my antiroll bar on my polo 6r, I installed smaller drop links, that fixed it for me. Im pretty sure they say anything lower than 40mm it will rub. :)

You can get modded drop links (dog bones) on the arb to help avoid the knocking

When your lowering coilovers remember that on opposite sides you have to turn the collar the opposite way!

Nice work, been following you since before so seen the evolution of your golf. I love my daily MK4 211k and counting. Recently upgraded my suspension to bilstein b12 and eibach springs. Handling is alot better. Now the DP is blowing though, so upgrading that next 😁 #moneypit

Hi guy, on a mk4 golf, the rear axle is shifted 4 mm to one side, it's like that on a lot of golf 4

Put both rear sides on max low and go take a ride and see if it make any difference, because with the old suspension you didn't have that problem! Cheers from Portugal man! :)

Possibly loosen off rear axle nut with spanner or mole grips,bounce up n down in back with loads of weight for ten mins to align axle..but most definitely cut dwn bumps to a couple of inches first. Failing that try ya old rear shock to see 👍

Best thing to get with coils is socks for them because if you don't they will be unajustable once the weather gets to them went through a set in 2 months of shit weather I also used a white line Arab under the shafts but to be perfectly honest the thing that totally transformed the handling was when I fitted a TT strut brace then in was like on rails no dipping in corners when the front dips and the opposite rear wheel lifts done a lot to my mk 4 but being honest the TT strut brace was a great handling tweek

BWTV it's funny you mention about the problem on the rear suspension as I have a MK1 Leon cupra which is based on the MK4 golf platform and my O/S/R always sits lower then my N/S/R no matter how much I raise it and lower it I can't understand why either 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s essential to use corner scales to tune coil overs. If you haven’t it, before installation, unscrew coil adjuster to get zero preload. After install the four coil overs, check that the car is not resting in the bump stop. Then, begin to adjust the threads at the front, one measure at a time. until you get the height you want. (It can be 5mm or 3 threads at a time) Do the same with the rear suspension. Don’t forget to move the car, after every adjustment, back and forth to allow the suspension to settle. If you get scales, look for the same weight when you add FL to RR and FR to RL.

Your problem is caused by the bump stop. One may have more damage. Or it s missing ;) When you lower the car at that level it usualy sits on the bump stops!

Petrol tank sits further to the right hand side, shouldnt make a huge difference but it will a little. Need to get in the boot and bounce around in there to settle them

Ray mine was fine I had no issues at the height I was at but I know some people do get knocking, but if all else fails you can just remove it but the handling will probably be a bit shite

Couple of questions. How did you torque the strut top nut and did you reuse the stretch both for the front coils?

Tried to torque up the top mount nut but didn't have the right tools to stop the piston from spinning. And I did re use the bolts, they were new from when I had the old springs installed 2 years ago if that makes a difference or not though 😂

8-8,5 x 18 offset 33-38 is great, tyres 225/40 spot on.

After seeing on the gram how much better the read up on them is and being the same price as fk’s (original decision as I had them on my old mk5 for two years - plus one year my mate had them before) and especially the lifetime warranty + the better anti rust protection! If you end up having another set at some point (I have the Bora 1.8t) send them my way😂

Dude you need to bed them in for 500 miles or so and then set your ride height. You'll never get your desired height from new out the box til you've worn them in abit. Sick video btw bro🤙

Ever since I've installed mine, I wanted to weight-balance the car. I'm guessing that the driver rear is very low and the near side front is the highest of them all. That would explain the gap and the fact that it doesn't adjust. You are way off...

There is a special... lets say 'device', much like the alignment machine, that weighs the car on each corner. Idea is to have the weight equally distributed, then the car should level.
