I like how the shelf combines more modern looking elements like the drawer faces, semi-classical elements like the top moulding and the more traditional looking counter top. The result is surprisingly harmonic and really quite unique.

My first viewing of your videos, what a simple yet elegant structure. I'm going back through them to see the complete build. Beautiful counter top, and I like how you brought light on both sides of the unit, so that it is the main focus --whether deliberate or not, it was a good effect. Wonderful work, I'm glad I found you.

Looks good, and it's nice how you took the time to explain everything clearer so that someone else can reproduce this or come up with their own design using the same methods. You also gave some good tips on getting a seamless look. The only thing I noticed which is a slight let-down in the drawer installation video and this one is that the middle drawer sits lower than the others surrounding it and I think this is apparent in this video at 6:07. At the end of the day, I'm not the one who has to look at this built-in on a daily basis. It's a good project and the overall finish is good.

Nice work! Really like the finished product. Now you need to build yourself a matching desk that takes advantage of the corner area on the left. That would really tie it all together. Thanks for sharing.

Nice job. You can also use shims under the counter top to close that space if you don't want to add that little molding. Just drive a few in and your done.

Congratulations! Your project turned out beautifully! I really enjoy seeing your techniques in woodworking and I have made note of some of them to use in my projects. I am currently making a built-in for a niche that was designed for smaller TV's. Since my TV is much larger, I mounted it over the fireplace but I"m left with an empty space the size of a VERY large refrigerator! The top (like you top) is 3/4" plywood wrapped with copper sheeting. I purchased some copper nails 1" long and pre-drilled holes to prevent the nails from bending to form an "aircraft skin" pattern. The doors are going to be 2 1/2" fixed louvers (kit from Rockler) both on the bottom and top units. I"ll send you photos when finished if you like.

I love the channel and have stopped the video many times just to get a better perspective of the finer points of this build. You are definitely a professional, I've wondered how you got your start. Was this something you went to school for or was it something you picked up as a hobby and then later developed with work and practice. This is essentially a Welsh Dresser - very popularly used in cottages, yours has a more modern take to it which I really like, most Welsh dressers that i've seen are too old fashioned looking for my taste. Great price too.

+homesteadonomics Thanks Joe! I love the copper cups too. They're old kitchen storage jars I picked up somewhere a long time ago, and I love storing pens and other things in them. I think I'd need a new set though for the adult beverages :)
