Very smart man where I learned most of my construction experience is in Florida Sarasota, Bradenton area, and that experience still puts food on the table here in New York today

Snap ties hold spacing on plywood cement forms.Old school would require horizontal walers alongside wood forms.Fort Myers is a beautiful area.Nice job on banjo w Rockytop.

Nice informative video as usual. During the video it was obvious that you were down there for a long period of time. I retire in May and hope to be down there soon myself. I have done four winters there already to determine if it’s for me. Enjoy those palm trees, there make me feel like it’s living on vacation.

Maybe I am being naive but putting wooden forms up and rebar to make lintels seems like a lot of work when you can just buy them to order. You also need the balance of a cat to stand on a wall like that with a concrete pouring hose. Interesting stuff though Mike.

How does anyone get home insurance in Florida with that kind of wind? In Seattle, concrete blocks aren't used much for anything, it's all solid poured walls in forms because of earthquakes. Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike, I'm a recently relocated NY classical architect here in Sarasota. I would love to collaborate on something with you. It involves increasing wall thickness to avoid rebar. I feel rebar is planned obsolescence in concrete. I look forward to speaking with you....

I would think that the air is salty down there and the rebar was already rusty looking. Do you think that the buildings are not meant to be up for more then 20 years or so? Won’t it still rust apart and then blow down?

Mike , Do they use the ICF blocks down in Florida seems like a good alternative 🤔? I know there expensive maybe that's why there not used as much.

How much more would it add to the cost of construction to require galvanized, epoxy coated or stainless rebar especially in high moisture, saline conditions. My best guess is that much of the thinking is based on two points: that the rebar is hidden so it's out of sight, and that rebuilding is more profitable for industry than repairs and maintenance

Large stucco panels need the relief dividers. I think my architects limit stucco panels to 400 sq-ft. We saw many cases where stucco cracked do to no relief over too many sq-ft of surfaces on schools and commercial buildings.

How do they handle the OSHA requirement for fall protection if more than six feet off the ground?

How do you frame floor joist for 2nd story all block wall home? Do you use a ledger bolted to the block wall and use hangers on the ledger?
