Again really helpful mate - Nearly time to do my own kitchen and using this video as a brush up. Can I ask with these sorta splashbacks behind a cooker - is the Glass panel enough to prevent it warping? None of the laminate manufacturers want to say yes though I can understand why. Just wanted to see if it's safe as I love the idea of one of these full height upstands but don't wanna set it on fire seeing as 99% of them are MDF or fibreboard xD
@LTWCarpentry

Cheers for the comment buddy, I would say yes they are, especially as they screw through the board, I get what you mean…. And it is frustrating when they manufacturers cover there own arses isn’t it ! But this one has been here well over a year now and is fine. Hope that helps buddy 👍🏻

@@RollCorruption I would go with something like stick like or even a decent silicon over pink grip mate, in my experience pink grip isn’t the best stuff in the world l, there’s loads of better adhesives out there. What’s your nearest shop ? I.e screwfix/ tool station or something similar ? I would be happy to recommend something if you would like ?

@LTWCarpentry yeah I thought that, I tried 12mm trim and it was 2mm too narrow even though splashback was 12mm too. I'll try again on the next one, don't want go through all that contact adhesive shenanigans again 😁

Do you cut the trim on a mitre saw mate or did you use scotia shears? My saw is a 12 inch blade so not sure if it’s a bit much for the job
@LTWCarpentry
@LTWCarpentry 2 года назад
I used my mitre saw buddy, I’m not sure if scotia trim would cut this as it’s ally, to be fair you could always cut it with a hack saw and run a file over it, alternatively you could buy the plastic trim and cut the with scotia shears, your saw will do it but only do it if you feel comfortable msg

Nice work. Was wondering what work top joint you used for this job. With the square profile did you butt and clamp? If so what’s your method for removing the lam strip? Appreciate the Chanel,keep the vids coming! 👍🏻
@LTWCarpentry
@LTWCarpentry 3 года назад
Hi, thanks for the comment ! I cut the lam strip where it meets the other top then use a chisel to peel the lam strip off, this is the best method I’ve found so far but still very awkward to get off ! I’m trying to find a better method myself ! I use worktop bolts to connect the worktops together

@@LTWCarpentry I bet! I’ve just brought a new trend jig (the red one) which does smaller profile masons mitres. Suppose to be great with smaller profiles and square edges compared to the standard hockey stick. Was going to try this method if the jig didn’t turn up. Was concerned how well the edging comes off.
