Here’s a pro tip for those floors. Use a scrap piece to tap them together so you don’t damage the tongue

J you're doing a great job on that floor, I'd like to give some advice. I don't know if it'll work or not but for your wife's back. I have one of these chairs called a Teeter. And it really helps stretch. You can hang up side down. Or add a somewhat of an angle, but anyway, it'll. Relieve her. I don't know what's wrong. If it'll damage her or not, but you might think about it. But I've had this for several years and it's really good for my bad back. That I have Is from working on cars and stuff all my life. But it does pull your back and relieve all your strain And it would be Good for you too.Great For You also.

A lot of it I think is the cold plunge! I cold plunge every morning for 3 to 5 minutes. Been tightening up my diet and then try to workout 3 to 5 times a week. Don’t do any cardio just weight training.

jay for that door edge fit, instead of pounding the edge take a handcloth and set it on the surface, then beat it into place with a rubber mallet

17:23 I thought your idea was to start at the fireplace with a full sheet. What happened? I see you had to mitre it in at least 1 inch. 19:25 I cant believe you didnt use a scrap piece to lock into good tongue and hit the scrap piece on the opposite scrap tongue. If you want your scrap piece to last the whole job, cut the tongue off and screw a 2 by 1 hardwood along the cut off tongue line and use that for the bashing place.

That’s a great question! I wanted the boards to run long ways when walking in the front door so that it looked more elongated. But that meant that nana and pop pops tv room the boards would go sideways as you’re looking into the room which I thought would look weird and make the room look shorter. So I just made that room go elongated as you’re looking in the door and the rest of the house the other way. Hope this makes sense! Lol thanks for watching.

You’re likely all done putting in the floors…..for tight spots, put painter tape on board. Glue a piece of wood to tape. Tap on the wood glued to tape. When done, remove the tape off the good piece of wood. It’s on RU-vid somewhere. Google it. I’m likely explaining it horribly.

I think for the basement stair tread you could pull the tread and shim it on the bottom the 1/4 inch to make it flush. Unless you really want to make a new one.

Take a bit of scrap that has the other side of the tongue and groove. Slot them together and hammer on the scrap piece. It has contact with the entire tongue and groove and won't damage it.

Maybe it doesnt work with this type of thinner flooring, but why couldnt you make a new tongue on the plank where you want to change directions of your flooring.? (instead of trying to install the flooring backways)

You have to change the wax ring or the bowl won't seal, you're raising the bowl by the thickness of the new flooring. I are a retired plumber

Did you know that you can find freshly roasted nuts on the beach on a sunny day? The main takeaway from this informative video is that it is really hard to plan it out. It would be nice if you could always go in one direction, but going the other way is unavoidable. There are going to be closets and half walls and even dogs in the way. I started in a half bath at the east side of the house and worked all the way to the west wall. My orthopedic surgeon said I should never do that again.

Hey Jay, here’s another pro tip. Take the plastic plate protector off your jig saw and it will cut more straighter as the blade will be more closer to your piece 😊

For you transition to put the floor together from you family room to your kitchen, I have found that if you use like a 5 inch scrap piece with the correct edge. I use that to engage fully and then use it to punch the two pieces together by pounding on the back side of it. this way I ruin a piece I am not using and do not chance breaking the tabs on the pieces.

Get yourself a brasscraft angle stop and spin the cartridge out. And then swap it on your toilet. Quick way to not have to solder etc for that leaking stop.

You should have added 2mm foam underlay carpet between old and new floor. If the old floor is slightly sunk into a pit in places new floor starts to make noise when you step on it.

Yeah, there’s like one or two spots that have a little creek in them but for the most part it’s pretty sound. These floors do have a little bit of foam already built-in on the bottom which I think is helping a lot.

Question, I have tile floors also and there old and the grout lines are huge. I want to go over them Like your doing , But won’t the floors squeak are move going over tiles and wide grout lines?

These planks that I’m using the floors are 9 inches wide so they cover any type of imperfections or gaps pretty well. If you’re using a smaller plank, you may run into some issues?
