Captain Mark Henderson with the Liquid Fire Fishing Team and Captain Danny Avila with Hammertime Sportfishing install new Vinyl Rub Rail using a TACO Marine Rub Rail Kit. The boat, which is 36 years old, has had its Rub Rail replaced a few times before. Capt. Mark explains what you can do to avoid damaged areas and shows other tricks to make the process fun and easy.

I am repairing my rub rail today on a 277 Baha. Good information I am going to use the tape and mark and seal it when I'm done. Thanks! 👍

@@TACOMarine should you 4200 under the cap before you install new?
@TACOMarine
@TACOMarine Год назад
@@joncrook3602 Hi Jon. Thanks for your question. Captain Mark Henderson said not necessarily. You can put it under the Rub Rail or you could wait until the Rub Rail is installed and finish off any gaps with a bead of marine-grade silicone on the top and bottom of the Rub Rail instead.

Great video; Question to everyone. I have a 2005 BW 305 Conquest. Whenever it rains hard, I get water (about 1 gal) in my middle bilge area. It's not coming from my escape hatch or my anchor box, so I'm now wondering if the old, weathered and hard rub rail is responsible? I would assume that once they lose their compression, the waterproof capability is reduced. Any thoughts?

Hey Sam, thanks for the feedback! We definitely recommend placing a bead of marine-grade silicone along the top and bottom of the rub rail after the installation is complete. why not use fiberglass putty and fill all the holes?

Thanks for your question. Captain Mark says you can use fiberglass putty. That is a matter of preference. Please let us know how it goes! ~ Dana K

does a semi rigid rub rail come in a rolled up kit? How about the inserts for a semi- rigid kit..are they rolled up or will there be a seam?
@TACOMarine
@TACOMarine 3 года назад
Hi Paul. Most semi-rigid profiles and inserts for semi-rigid come coiled. If they are coiled, there is no seam. Here are two links to the Flexible Rub Rail and Inserts we sell direct on our site that are not part of kits. tacomarine.com/flexible-vinyl-2 and tacomarine.com/vinyl-inserts-3 We also do offer rigid profiles that are cut into specific lengths, but these require special shipping beyond UPS and are subject to a shipping fee. Our universal Rub Rail Kits are designed to fit most boats, and these include the hardware and end caps. tacomarine.com/rub-rail-kits Our new SuproFlex Rub Rail is super easy to bend and install. Please let us know if you have any other Rub Rail questions we can answer.

Is the process the same for "semi-rigid" rub rails sold by Taco Marine? This video is actually on the Taco Marine website for the semi-rigid product. Just want to confirm.

Hi USFmarine. Thanks for your question. Yes, this would be the same process for all of our Rub Rail Kits. If you have product-specific comments, please do e-mail us anytime at info@tacomarine.com.

I never see you guys seal the screw holes ?
@TACOMarine
@TACOMarine 3 года назад
Hi Bull. We recommend using marine-grade sealant. Some prefer to fill individually the old holes, while others prefer to skip this step and place a bead on the top and bottom of the new Rub Rail after the install is complete. This is a personal preference. To be safe, we recommending filling the old holes and placing a bead of sealant on the top and bottom of the new Rub Rail. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

witch part of the rail goes up and witch goes down ? ahhh never show it
@TACOMarine
@TACOMarine 4 года назад
Hi Alberto. Thanks for your question. Generally, the leg is underneath the hull/cap joint. There are couple of manufacturers that put the leg on top, such as Scout. However, most of the time the configuration is leg down, and that is what we did in this video. ~ Team TACO
