@ChuckClaunch

This is definitely a petty comment but I'm curious why folks use a fancy brushless impact or drill and mash the button all the way down a bunch of times when the trigger is pressure sensitive to alter the speed of the drill. It feels so much easier to drive screws in and stay engaged with the screw head when you start it slowly then pull the trigger a little more to go faster.

Do used to be a show called monster garage Tom I was kind of a show where they had a crew come in and try to build some thing. And one of the episodes a guy called wee-man Watch around the whole episode and every time somebody started to do something he would just walk up to them and say “that ain’t gonna work“ to go to mess with them. He’s a comedian who is a short person. A lot of times when I watch your videos and you’re working and starting these projects, that pops into my head, him popping up and saying “that ain’t gonna work!” 😂 it would be hilarious. Serious question Andrew.... How long did it take you to be able to talk to the camera with no audience for feedback from people. You do have a really good teaching ability to your audience. How much editing do you go through before you post your RU-vid videos. You put a lot of hours into your home building then do you do video editing on top of all this or does your wife help you with this too? I could see how you could get burnt out overtime management. Just amazing!
@TKCL
@TKCL 2 года назад
Took probably 20-30 videos before I started getting comfortable. This is beyond a full-time job, recording makes jobs take several times longer and often I have to redo a job because it didn't record correctly. I am usually up between 5:30-6:30 am editing and responding to comments, work and record all day, then usually edit from 6pm to 10 all while responding to more comments. I usually work 6 days a week too and edit 7 days a week. I've never been more passionate about anything in my life and want nothing more than a RU-vid career, that's the only thing that's kept me from getting burnt out. Thanks for watching and the support.
@davidlancaster5189
@davidlancaster5189 2 года назад
Love your videos, as far as the door goes, are you going to be able to properly shim and but the spray foam in after drywalling. Since you can weld, could you make a platform(almost a Bridge) to sit right above the threshold with feet on either side that sit on the concrete?
@TKCL
@TKCL 2 года назад
Yes I will be able to, but I'll have to remove some sheet rock in those areas to drive the shims in. Won't be a problem because my door moldings will easily cover over those gaps. As for the ramp, I'm kicking around a idea, but room is very tight. The lift sits very low to the ground making things more difficult.

I give this bit of advice to every youtube or not who install finished doors this early in the construction. Protect them. Either wrap them in something like bubble wrap or foam padding until construction is done or go to the junk yard and grab like 2 craptastic "doors" and put them in place, storing the good doors out of the way. Dragging heavy equipment around through those doors, or supplies and so forth, much of which have sharp edges and points, and you can gouge or mark the door up beyond even a simple paint touch up.
@TKCL
@TKCL 2 года назад
I agree, but leaving doorways open for fog, rain and humidity is asking for trouble with foam insulation and sheet rock installed.
@thtadthtshldntbe
@thtadthtshldntbe 2 года назад

I'm surprised being in Florida you weren't required to have a hurricane proof door. (They open outward) we have a brand new house (well 3 years old next month) in Florida as was told it's now code on all new builds.
@digitaldan8223
@digitaldan8223 2 года назад
Hmmm... that must be a local building code near the coast. We have several friends that have moved into brand new builds the past 6 or 8 months and all the front doors opened inward.
@TKCL
@TKCL 2 года назад
Actually outward swing doors are far more dangerous in windy situations. The wind can catch them and rip them open. But for wind pushing force, outward might be stronger. We are not close enough to the coast to require impact rated Doors or windows and other requirements.

We changed the door swing last minute, we will have to live with the switch placement. I don't think it will be a problem. We were worried about the door swinging towards the washer and dryer.
@JCWren
@JCWren 2 года назад
Seems like you could still move it. Replace the switch box with a metal box, put a new box to the left of the door, run your wires over the door frame. Better now than before sheetrock!
@digitaldan8223
@digitaldan8223 2 года назад
I think installing and removing the door will turn out to be a "not-so-great" idea. I would install it permanently and make a "bridge" over the threshold so it doesn't get damaged. Surely you can weld yourself up a steel Evel Knievel ramp/bridge over it that will support the weight of the lift. Some carpet or foam on the bottom side to prevent scratching and once you're done; store it so you can get the lift inside should you ever need to get way high in the future...
@TKCL
@TKCL 2 года назад
The machine is so low to the ground you don't get the clearance you think. You have to have a long gradual slope so it doesn't drag. The porch is not long enough with the machine sitting outside the door.
@wklentzman
@wklentzman 2 года назад
@@TKCL Personally, I'd just get a sheet of plywood and cut out a temp. door with some hinges and put a padlock on it. Store you door out of the way to prevent damage. The little bit of moisture that would seep around the plywood wouldn't be too bad, but if it bothered you, you could put a small block of wood (which you would need anyway) for a stop and some cheap insulated tape around the opening until you are ready for final install. BTW I really like the doors.
@digitaldan8223
@digitaldan8223 2 года назад
