I install Camso UTV Tracks. Then Swamp Test them. First Impressions GOOD & BAD about UTV tracks, how the quality compares to Mattracks and how the Pro's install tracks.
Nice Stan! I also had my fair share of Fun in the mud this last few days. I started my first pod extension in the 200el. Got 58 hours on it so far. Have a good one man!
So fun , Thank You . several years ago my dad and I went for a ride with my uncle in his tracked Ranger . I was really surprised at what we went through
Great video. I have those tracks on my Honda Pioneer 1000 I take them off in the spring and put them back on after hunting season. The machine will go through very deep snow as it rides on top well. Knock on wood I have had no issues, very important to have them adjusted properly. I ride 10 miles into my camp on mostly unpacked snow with a bunch of gear and towing a sled or ice shack. Machine has no problems. Good luck with yours. Remember the saying. Take care of your equipment and your equipment will take care of you!
When you were playing with the "Stick Dozer" I miss read Infinity as Insanity for the music title. Definitely need to put some hydraulic ram limiter spacers come winter to keep the plow from hitting your track while working so if you catch something while pushing snow it wont kill the "toy"
@@Dirtmonkey smile.amazon.com/dp/B000UVQTI6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_AT6HFDTGKXPBRJAGFJFC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Found these on amazon to give you an idea
By far, the main reason why tracks tear up turn is that with only one exception (the Polaris 'turf mode' option), the two rear tracks ALWAYS turn at the same speed. The result is that turning is achieved via. skid steering. Even the front tracks have to fight the rear's attempt to continue in a straight line. The Polaris turf mode is a bastard 'solution'. First, you have to select 2 wheel drive. When you select turf mode, it DISENGAGES one of the rear axles (either left or right, forget which) from the driveline. So while you have all the wheels able to rotate at whatever speed eases your attempt to turn, you are limited to ONE WHEEL DRIVE. All 'utility' ATVs and UTVs have a differential in the front. But all of them, including the few Polaris models with turf mode, do NOT have a differential in the rear (although many people erroneously call it one). Instead, what they have is a spool (i.e. a ring and pinion gear), with both axles directly coupled to the ring gear. By definition, a DIFFERENTial allows the left and right wheels to travel a DIFFERENT speeds. This is usually achieved via. a set of spider gears acting as an intermediary between the ring gear and the output shafts going to the left and right wheels. Hopefully someday, ATVs and UTVs will follow standard practice in cars and trucks by having differentials in the rear, and include a selector button for a locking differential. By choosing the locking differential, its function will emulate the spool that people currently always encounter when driving ATVs and UTVs. But for now, both for cost and size savings, as well as safety on a short wheelbase, primarily off road driven vehicle, they stick with a spool at the rear. P.S. I have both Camoplast (acquired by Camso) and Mattracks for use on ATVs (not UTVs). The Mattracks are much beefier. But they also weigh almost twice as much. The Camoplast have worked fine and collectively weigh about 240 pounds less, which is a big deal.
So, the guy who invented Mattracks, it's been a long time but I've met his brother and sister in law who own Central Boiler. Super nice people. Mattracks exists because of a kids drawing. The Central Boiler guy bought like the whole company Mattracks remote control trucks when RadioShack came out with them. I took the order! Mattracks are awesome.
I've thought about a set of tracks too. If I can be honest with myself though, it's 90% aesthetics for me. Love how they look! Keep us posted through snow season.
Hey Stan day was great we are had a great day here in Jersey and now I just got done dinner we had leftovers today and I had the leftover steak and chicken and we picked up some sides from Boston market pretty good I do have to say I don’t know three lawns tomorrow and then I’m off for the weekend and the next week that I go back and mow either Thursday or Friday my clients away on business so I have to take pictures to make sure I didn’t get paid taking pictures is very important in our line of work to make sure that we do get paid. I was at Walmart today, they have the hart version of the extendable ratchet, it looked really nice, and had a big grip to. And it really felt good and light balanced in the hand.it was like 15 bucks but if it felt quality like that then I don’t mind getting it. Oh and for this upcoming fathers day, we got my dad this really nice mug and its able to clip to his belt so when he is out working, he just has to clip it to his belt and he has water on the go. The good year compressor he loved. The first thing he used it on was his run, making sure all the pressure in the tires met the norm. I do so find love reading your posts on Instagram. They are truly amazing. Anyways Stan, great chatting, you have a great night. Finish the week out strong. God bless and go get em. You’re pal and good friend, Alexander costa
Thats pretty cool that your dad liked that air compressor. I know you gave it to him early-sounds like that was a good call. We are having a heat wave here in Minnesota. In the 90's. I actually like it. Those Hart tools are good for the money. Seems like an affordable option. If you buy it let me know what you think of them. Stay cool and safe on your lawns next week! have a great night Alexander. Your pal Stan.
Nice setup Stan. Better be careful with that swamp, the DNR may not like that. We had a few cases here in my county that the owner were fined for muddy in their swamp, one guy had to restore all the damage he did
Been running casmo or as I know them as camoplast 4s tracks for about 13 years on my previous quad bike a Polaris sportsman 800 with no problems at all pushing snow, mountains of it. You will be able to keep piling the snow up as high as you want. I now have a sportsman xp 1000 and got the install kit for the same tracks to go on. I had the tracks gone through and a few bearings were replaced needed to be replaced but have many many hours on them.
i like this mechanic. dude tells you no bullshit the way it is. not trying to sell you on something or blow smoke up your skirt. dudes a straight shooter. i dig it.
Hey Stan you will greatly enjoy these tracks I own a set they are ten years old I have been running them on my ranger 800 crew and I put them through tough work from mud to snow ice dirt and dry pavement I have only had to replace the drive sprockets once this last year. Mine are the flat track pattern they don’t have the curved center as yours do, mine have roughly 1500 hours on them and the treads are sill in good condition
Very interesting the tracks made that machine a beast in the muck but a monster on regular lawn if your not careful. Overall a good upgrade if you actually need them.
I’m starting a go fund me for you to get you a small tractor lol. I use my snow plow in the summer to move dirt with my garden tractor great video keep them coming
Well Stan, what you will find is that by adding the tracks, you will be able to get it stuck in even a worse place than before. At least that is what I have found every time I upgrade my rides, I just end up getting into even worse stuff😉😏
@@Hi-Tech-Ray if you only want to go the same distance yes. If you want to go farther than no. You'll get farther. Hence getting stuck in worse. Because the vehicle is better and more capable.
I have these on a RZR 570 and love them in the snow. Usually just stick with tires in the summer. Should work well in swamp, I just prefer not to lose the speed and turning radius during summer.
He's right on. Loose 10 mph, fatter foot print so they float higher, big appetite for fuel and awesome in snow. Be sure to keep moving if you go into a creek or anything wet so you don't freeze them up. Good video!
Hay great video again stan, but maybe in the end of the videos were you do the thanks and thumbs up bits maybe one day you could say thanks to us guys in the uk who watch all your videos and some of us really wish we could live in the good old USA. Thanks again stan.
Get an extension kit for your plow. They have them designed for when you put tracks on a UTV or ATV. It extends it out so you can get your full angle without hitting the tracks. And I see you have a Polaris plow, so shouldn't be a problem.
We use a Ranger on Camso tracks for grooming trails. Wheels could never go were tracks can. We use them in winter only. We also have a Nissan on Mattracks. Those were 4 times the cost of the Camso tracks, not twice.
Wow can't wait to see how it does in snow and ice also 2 questions do you have to take all extra parts off when you switch back and forth tires and tracks also did your camera that fell off the plow survive or did you lose it the brush lol
Put a Bercomac blower on that beast! I’ve been running Camsos for seven years. It is stunning where they’ll go, super steel climbs and sidehills where a wheeled vehicle can’t even think of going. A few choice spare parts and tools, along with your choice of a way to lift the rig for repairs, you’re good to go anywhere. I suggest a few spare bogey wheels and four spare heim anti rotation bar ends.
We use that brand of tracks on Polaris sportsman 850 and now on our new sportsman 1000 up here in Saskatchewan Canada for pullin floating pumps into sloughs every spring never any trouble as long as you keep up on the track tension and in the cold Canadian winters never broke an idler but have worn them out
The benefits of having tracks are traction, good look and maybe a lower center of gravity. The bad points are steering, speed, fuel consumption, weight. I had to put an oil cooler on my quad. I also broke a-arm mount.
i have the same tracks on my 2015 Sportman 570. They go everywhere, the wheels are durable i have never broke one. i have driven over logs stumps etc at -20. Don’t let frankie drive it in a muddy swamp. We have hunting land up in your neck of the woods, they logged off a ash forest and it now a big cattail swamp. Last winter i drove around it the cattails where higher than my waste and snow. ground was frozen it went thru it like nothing was there. i forgot to video it. watch out for logs the front tracks will typically climb over the rears are not up turned as much and may try to go under the log not good.
those tracks do great in snow not so great with ice under the snow though, they can be studded. I had them on a RZR for plowing did great and they can climb up the snow bank to push the snow back further making a ramp.
Interested how they hold up. The Kenso’s are more of a recreational track, while the Mattracks are a utility track. I have the Mattracks on my Ranger, they’re awesome.
Hi Stan I think you should do a burn off get rid of that dead long grass and those sticks etc too. Will be good clears out all the crap and allows new stuff to come through and grow.
We have the same track system on our Search and Rescue Side x Side. The plastic rollers do not last. These tracks are designed for Snow only. Never take them into mud and don't get a rock in the rollers or your walking home instantly as it breaks the rollers and bends the tensioning system. The steering tie rods bend very easily with tracks on the front end.
How do you think it would work with tracks on just the rear for plowing? Still have 4 wheel drive, good turning radius, Plow wouldn't hit. Only thing would be the different ratios front to back. Could you run that unit in 2wd only. If so would it still do the job?
Have you watched Andrew camaratas video on the same topic? Enjoyed watching your video looking forward to seeing it in the snow at the cabin this winter
We’ve ran these 4 years now in the harshest environments you can imagine been solid both on the UTV and ATV mattracks not impressed with our big quad trac 620 uses camso tracks there’s a reason they are the best !!
Stan, you should be able to get a plow extentions. warn moose etc most of the 3rd party plows have track plow extention pieces. i dont know if the oem polaris plows will have plow extentions for use with tracks
@@Dirtmonkey yeah no problem dude, like warns normal plow say it like yours, then they make an extention for those with tracks, adds like 2- 3 feet in length to the plow. bolts to there the pivot is, then extends it out and relocates the pivot
@@Dirtmonkey also Matt tracks for full size trucks last I checked years ago started at like 50 grand..... so I wouldn't be aupprised if the UTV ones were 12-18k
so polaris does make one@@Dirtmonkey , I havent checked the fitment on this one. but they should have one to fit yours atv.polaris.com/en-us/shop/accessories/plows/2879719/
You have to be pretty committed to using it for work with a $5k price tag. Most ATV Trail systems won't let you run tracks do to damaging ground. Sure looks like fun though.
Oh and for plotting snow you will need an extended set mount for your okie to get your angle back, and at least 1’ wider pole on each side of the track to avoid driving over the swale of snow when you plow at an angle. For sidewalks and driveways you will love it. Though the atv/ITV plows don’t backdrag well.
