Installing The Apex Extended Mag Release for the FN 509 

Once again, the video is concise and easy to follow. It took longer to preview the video than it did to actually install the slide release.

Freakin awesome.! Worked like a charm! A little bit trickier as mine is a full size which makes it harder to get a better angle to press the spring down. Still got it and no scratches to the frame. Thanks guys

Good product! It is not a night and day difference from the stock release.. At $30 this would be a much better buy. But high quality product from apex as always.

I wanted to compete in a USPSA match with my 509 Midsize but with the stock mag release you can forget it. It takes too much time to reposition my hand to press the stock release. My extended mag release has been ordered and I can't wait to get it installed.

Nice upgrade. It was easy to install and solves the problem of the mushy mag release that comes with the 509.

Excellent video as usual. I need to get one of these. Just a quick question. I see on your RU-vid homepage a pic of the Longslide for the FN 509, however even though it's been almost a year since it's release you haven't made a video about it. Why is that? I'm quite puzzled. It's a fantastic product. The only videos that exist are the ones I did and the one Big Johnson Guns and Gear did. I'd love to see you guys do an in depth video on the 509 Longslide. 🔫 🇺🇸

I shoot USPSA and I thought this product would make the process of ejecting a mag easier and faster. I have to say I'm disappointed. It's barely higher than the stock item and that angle isn't really an advantage, it's a liability because a smaller portion of your thumb is making contact with the button. I don't push down, never have. I push inward on the release to drop a mag. I still have to break my grip to drop a mag with the Apex mag release. All Apex had to do was elevate the height of the stock button and make it unidirectional. The only reason I'm not sending it back is because it is unidirectional. I have bought and installed other Apex products with complete satisfaction, but this time they missed the mark. Just calling it like I see it.

I've got the 509 APEX 5" Slide for my 509. Could you put up a video showing you guys putting on a few of the compatible red dots (RMR/507C/508)? I would like to see it demonstrated before I purchase a red dot.

Have you ever heard of the magazine release spring ejecting itself under recoil? I’ve had this issue with my 545 after the second mag and reinstalled using this video only to have the issue repeat itself.

Is there a reason you guys chose to name make it ambidextrous? Or give an ambidextrous option.

Are we sure that the release spring doesnt need to click in? I keep having an issue where my spring is sliding out on its own when shooting. After about 2 mags my apex mag release will just fall right out on its own

Will the left handed mag release extension work for the fn 509 cc edge ?
