That muscle car pan hangs too low. People use the autokraft pan and say it fits perfectly. But that’s another $500. I got the f-body pan to fit though. Thank God!
I looked this again since today I was test fitting the LS1 with 4L60E to the chassis and ran into problem with sway bar room. It's colliding with the belhousing. In this video you dont have the sway bar installed. How did you go around that?
I used factory e39 mounts and made by own stands. Sorry, they are hand made and I don’t have a fixture to mass produce them. There was a guy by the name “Jesusfreak” who made an entire kit with headers and mounts. But I’m not sure if he still does.
Do you mind if I become your friend? lol. If you think that maybe I can put the drive train from a complete donor e60 car 6 cylinder twin turbo into my e39 540i with blown up motor?
That would be pretty badass. The v8 e39 cars have a front sump oil pan so you might have to change out the front subframe with an i6 one. But that’s pretty easy.
The speedometer gets its signal from the ABS module and one of the rear wheel speed sensors. So nothing changed there. For the tach, I’m running the tach output wire from the ls pcm to the cluster. Then using NCS to code the cluster to use the analog input instead of the CAN input. For AC I’m going to buy a CAN bus module to trick the hvac module into thinking the DME is still there and turning on the AC. At least that’s the plan LOL.
Honestly, I have so many hours into this swap that I would have to charge at least $10k in labor. Now if I were to have spent the money for off the shelf mounts and headers, it would’ve cut weeks of time off of the job.
