I’ve been working on cars for many years. I found out that when you change your air filter if you clean your mass airflow sensor and let it dry for about an hour you see your fuel economy improve I have serviced my transmission every 50,000 miles with the filter change every hundred thousand miles with a flush then a filter change I have 300,000 miles on my transmission with no slippage. I also do 50,000 miles on all my front and rear differentials of my vehicles, just a suggestion
How did you assume it’s the blower motor the issue, couldn’t it have been blown switches? Wouldn’t you check those first before changing the motor blower?
I checked for power and ground to the motor and it had both. If the switch was at fault then I wouldn’t have power to the motor. If I didn’t have power to the motor then I would work backwards to the resistor and then to the switch. No sense in pulling the dash apart to test the switch when the motor is so easily accessible.
Thanks Pete. We have a 2020 Honda Pilot 58,000 miles. Check Emission Problem light. I checked the code and it says catalytic problem bank 2. Where is the link showing the recall under warranty? The dealer wanted $1,350.00 plus tax. I put a large bottle of Techtron fuel cleaner and a tank of non ethanol gas and the light went away. After a week, it came back on but only for a couple of days. I just filled it back up and did the same. I just wanted the recall info that states 15 year/150,000 miles warranty. Thanks again!
IC, That means as per your Experience and Expertise , Transmission Filters are Useless right? Never Mind that it can get clogged from the materials that come off the Clutch Pack? Or.. Or.. Maybe People want to see if there are Metals that got caught in it and figure out if the transmission need to be fixed before the CATASTROPHIC Failure? Just wondering.... I use to work for dealerships for more than 15 year, SEALED Transmissions ARE a SCAM..... Technicians will always say everything is great until it breaks and need to be fixed..To drain and refill transmission fluid by a Technician is around $200.. but if the Trusted Technician have to replace your Transmission it is a whopping min $4k, right? Hmmmmmmmmm You are a Trusted Technician, How Come every time your Customers Sees you it always costs them Money?
You are correct for simple metal mesh filters, but some have a multi layers filter like post 2011 Mercedes 7 and 9gtronic. There is a paper like layer to catch thinner dust and I think for this type of filter it is better to change the fluid and the filter
Great video- I guess you can only hope that chips from the impeller don't circulate around then get stuck in the head ports somewhere and restrict the water flow..... I had that happen to me years ago on another vehicle causing a serious overheating issue....
That’s what I was a little worried about. But the only way to find out is to either run it and see or remove the heads. Pulling the heads on these coyote engines isn’t real easy so we opted to just run it and see. He has been driving it daily for a year after this repair and no issues. Thank goodness!
O yea...1 of those lifetime trans...i get it dont change nothing cause its meant to last a lifetime...yea thats why they started making sealed units so you could not even change fluid yourself ...i keep forgetting its a lifetime thans...that way it's life will definiately be a shorter life and can keep industry going by all those prematured wore out trans....or as they call them LIFETIME TRANSMISSION....so CHANGE YOUR FLUID AND FILTER either at regular intervalls;30,000 miles or so better yet change all fluid at REGULAR INTERVALS cause heat breaks down fluid which in turn tears up trannys...what will they come up with next a counter for crankshaft so oil will be changed based on rotations instead of miles that would be good for a few million more oil changes...wait they already do that with them LIFETIME TRANSMISSIONS...😂
If you’re talking cvt you can d😊 more damage trying to finagle w the filter and gasket. Frequent fluid change ONLY ! 2 cvt flushes at a recommendation 4:35 and it killed both. Nissan the worst.
My daughter’s 2007 Toyota Yaris was sold with 210K miles with the original transmission oil/filter. No issues. My other kid drove his Suby WRX to 190K with no transmission oil change and it shifted flawlessly and he drove it hard! My other daughter’s Nissan cube with CVT completely failed at 50K miles. Perhaps the real discussion is about the science behind the mechanicals. Heat kills CVT’s. After the dealer replaced the CVT, I had an external CVT oil cooler installed. The car was driven another 80K miles with zero transmission issues.
Hi Pete, I came across your FiTech video on the 69 Camaro looking for fixes for what I think is EMI issues. TRied almost everything to tame it. Runs best with the battery wire disconnected from the alternator. The RPM signal all over the map and stalls, disconnected the RPM's acts normal and stabilizes. Won't run long without the alt./ voltage. Tried direct alternator to battery ground, tried twisting the bat. power & ground...pulled the harness away from the intake toward the right fender. Put clip on noise suppressors ( I think called farrans ) I checked the TPS liked you showed, its fine. The coolant temp. is wacky ambient showed 66 degrees, started engine and jumped to 107, also it stops at 185 and doesn't get any higher...all readings are from the hand held controller. By the way, Chevy ZZ4, removed Holley 4bbl and put on the FiTech 36203 throttle body kit, less the hi pressure tank fuel pump, used the FiTech Fuel Force 50004 ( already had MSD dist. #8360 and Blaster 2 Ign. coil. I think EMI is the real issue 63amp single wire GM alt. ( already replaced it per FiTech guys. ) Thinking of dropping to a 37amp. Any thoughts??
I've 380,000km on original chains.. 11mm chains from the Holden Commodore zv 05 model aussy car, they don't get the stretch unlike the newer models where they used a 9mm chain set up Do the right maintenance and use full syn oil
Mutable timing system puts to much pressure. On the three chains. Cam adjusters are failing. Coursing this issue. Not the chain. Not oil pressure. Two cams on the wrong time. Pull and release. Stress on the chain. Just the cam chain. A beautiful engine. Tough power Bad timing system. And yes I have done all chains oil pump and fail not long. No not oil.
changing oil filter every time changing oil is money wasted, you can go 2 oils change on 1 filter no problems. Save at least $7 to 15 dollars a year on oil filter
Just spend the few dollars and little bit of time needed to change the filter at regular intervals. It is an inexpensive insurance policy. Plus if the trans does fail at some point, it won't be due to lack of maintenance. It is not fun to do and is kind of dirty but a failed trans is way more inconvenient. Even if it were not really necessary, we all spend a lot more time and money on even less necessary things in our lives.
I know you posted this 2 years ago but you are a livesaver! you quite literally went on to describe every problem I've been having and say the exact code that came up on my car. I didn't know it would be this simple of a fix
You don’t need to change the engine oil filter every change. Every other is perfectly fine if you use a decent filter. Trans filter. I do my fluid every year because I plow and tow with my truck I change the trans filter every other change.
His logic sounds reasonable. However, he omits that the transmission fluid is like any other fluid in that it breaks down and in time, no longer has the redeeming (special) lubricating qualities when it was new. This can assist in transmission failure.
Hello. I'm having the same problem and some people are telling me not to buy "fake asian" reproduction mounts from Amazon or eBay but only use original ones from the dealer (more expensive). How was your experience with those Amazon mounts?
