This tutorial (for a different door to the one I have purchased) was more helpful than a recent tutorial from Bunnings for the exact door I purchased. Thank you!
Need to link a tutorial on how to install the lock option. This is very important! COuld be the difference in keeping the door or returning the door in exchange for another brand.
I bought this for my cat a couple of weeks ago when we moved into an apartment. She’s used to having free reign to go outside. We’re on the second floor now with a big balcony and feel perfectly safe with this door in place. I didn’t like the density of the weather stripping they provided. It was a little firm and left gaps around the screws on the sides.. so I purchased a thicker softer weather strip and it works perfectly. Also, my box didn’t come with the draft flap so I got a roll off Amazon and that’s working great as well. As far as locking; we have a jerry bar (I cut it down with a hacksaw to fit the new smaller space between the sliding door and the door frame), and pin locks for both the slider and pet door, although that pet door isn’t sliding at all if it’s installed correctly. Our set up is no less secure (and maybe more so) than your regular sliding patio door.
I came on here for the same thing regarding locking it! WTF? Me and my dog's safety is compromised! How could you not show a video showing how to install something so important?
Doesn't work. Can't get it over the bottom part of the sliding glass door frame. Inside measurements where it WOULD fit is 78 1/2". I guess I might need the next size down.
You can remove the top piece and just flip it over and screw if back , since it’s a shorter side. However for me it still didn’t fit so I just put the pet door in without the top piece then tilted it to the side and slid the top piece on with the shorter side and then diy screwed it on to the pet door frame from the outside so it wouldn’t look ugly with the screws facing in. Also had to purchase a thicker weather strip bc the one it comes with is too thin. Lots of extra work i would advice to get a diff brand that fits easily if you can return instead
HelLOOoo(is anybody home?) How do you resecure your door's latch #1, how do you secure this to the door frame #2 at JUST the right angle so it seals when closed which leads to #3, how do you get it just right so it seals completely? Thanks!
the top channel on the pet door seems to be open at the end. That black foam tape therefore has nothing to stick to, and that looks like an obvious air leak area. They should have provided a foam plug for the channel.

+Douglas Kottraba Yep. Just bought it and came here. Very first comment is exactly my problem. The door DOES NOT FIT A 93 3/4 opening. The only way it's going to happen is if you cut the adjustable metal piece about 3/8" of an inch. Or just return it.
+Karr Schleiermacher The engineers botched this. Yes, the minimum height for my door is 93 3/4" , and when the pet door is fully depressed it measures 93 3/4". Well, what's the problem you say? It doesn't account for the 1" lip you have to slide it over. A simple manufacturing fix for this would be to move up the middle plate inside the adjustable piece about 1 1/2". I think I'm going to just hack saw the top off about that much. I don't see any other product out there. Sucks I have to do that. But buyers who have my door height be aware of this.
+Karr Schleiermacher Update. Yes, had to cut like 3" from the top of the adjustable piece. Either they didn't think this through or there is some other way to make it fit. I've installed entire HVAC systems so I not a complete dummy. If they figure out this one issue it would be a great product. I dis-agree with some of the comments that it's flimsy, it's very well made and the glass is good quality. Even-though I installed it and it looks great, I don't expect the general public to do the modification I had to do. For that reason it's a product fail for my configuration using it in a 93 3/4 door.
Yep, same problem as you fellas. Door panel is 3/8 inch too tall at full compression. Time to put the metal cutting blade in my circular saw. Having to do this suck when the manufacturer could have added a shorter replacement as well as a screw on guide for the top door frame slot to provide a better air seal!

Wanted to buy this, your complete gloss over on how to install the lock makes me think that either the lock is a piece of garbage or it's really hard to install. Will be going with a different product
I measured from the deepest part of the channel on top to the deepest part of the track on the bottom which suggested this should fit but I could not lift it up over the lip of the bottom track, the top bit didn't compress quite enough. It's excellent quality and I really wish it would have fit, but I'll be sending it back.
Don’t buy this unless your willing to get creative... first the top section has to be drilled into the frame because if not it just wobbles back and forth. There is no track on the top section of sliding doors. Second it is impossible to get a perfect seal... I have followed many tutorials online and called... basically good luck. Third is the lock, they say detailed instructions but the instructions are crap... my lock doesn’t even extend long enough to drill a hole for it to go into and second the placement of where to attach is exactly right where the screws on the sliding glass door are located.
I’ve done everything as directed and even went as far as taking out the current screws for the lock so it will be flush. With everything out and the weatherstripping adhered it is no where close to being flush! What a joke this is! Returning and hope I can get a refund since the weatherstripping is already on! 😡
+roxy bear With keeping in mind that no 2 door frames are the same, the materials are cheap and fragile (Not good against burglary), it cannot be adjusted to your frame properly, the flimsy latch that comes with it, isn't enough to prevent the door from opening from the outside, No mater how many adjustments you'll do, you won't be able to eliminate the gap between the door and the unit. I got more, but I'm running out of patience just thinking about it.
Complete trash. Does not compress down far enough to get over the outer lower lip of the tracks. Literally about 1/2 inch to go and there’s no way it’s getting forced in there. My door frame measured at the tracks is exactly 77 5/8 but it’s not possible to get the door inside the tracks unless I cut some of the metal on top.
Why the fuck are there no 83" dog doors? 77-80", and 90"-93", but ZERO for 83" WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY? I have a cookie-cutter home in a neighborhood with 10,000+ homes with the same fucking doors. I GUARANTEE that this is as VERY FUCKING COMMON SIZE, but NO ONE CARRIES IT WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??????????????????
