My man, thank you so much for posting this! I love how you break down the reason you use each piece and the function they have for your conversion! Wishing you and your van fam well
Your video is very informative and it's better than most well viewed videos. Yours trumps most of them and yet you only have less than 3k views after ten months. I have been watching similar videos for almost 5 months while converting my cargo trailer but I have never come across your detailed video. I think your careful selection of your titles would be a game changer. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for the feedback on the titles. We are not good at RU-vid but are SO GRATEFUL that our video has helped you. We took a bit of a break from social media but plan to be releasing more videos very soon!
Omg I hope we meet you someday so we can give you a huge hug for making this detailed video. We are just starting our build and solar/electric is the most intimidating part! ✌🏼 You are amazing.
Yay I'm so glad it helps you! We were also intimidated but in reality so glad we did it ourselves. Feel free to reach out with any questions and best of luck!!!
Great video! I am still glad we aren't going to do a DIY system and are opting for a Goal Zero. I didn't know about the fork connectors for the outlets, I may have to go back and add one of those for our ground. I bought outlets that have a bar that snugs down for the hot and neutral wires so I think they should be good but the ground is still a screw. Rather be safe than sorry. Otherwise we are battling the same thing lately. Thunderstorm warnings constant that last few weeks. I never know if I can be outside working on the van. I am still so freaking jealous of your tent! I am still doing the pack everything into the van and take it back out currently, haha! Great job you two! Pumped for your progress!
Lol yeah it was a TON of work. I will heavily consider a goal zero all-in-one type of solution in the future but glad I learned and practiced this all though. Yeah I had a hell of a time trying to bend the stranded wires around the screw before I got the fork connector.
Yeah the tent had made a ton of difference but still doesn't allow us to work in bad weather very much because it's mostly storage for our tools and materials lol. But much better than fitting it all on the van/house.
Nice build, will the AC shore power back feed into the inverter when its not being used and damage it as you are using a common AC ring main? Im not sure if i would need a transfer switch to isolate the two AC feeds from each other......inverters aren`t cheap!!
You probably got this question already. Can you put links to the components you used. Wire - Fuses - Distribution Panel Bus Bars Etc. I'm going to have to revamp my electronics as well, they are rather slapped together now. Since I'm introducing a generator and then an AC unit, I've got to formalize the work. I have put it off probably because of indecision as to where to install things. Since real estate is limited, having to commit space for certain things means there is no way back and/or a waste of initial work if that location didn't work well. In any case, I've realized there are various phases you go through when venturing into van builds, and redesign seems to come no matter what unless you contract it out and pay big bucks. So, yea, gathering the components is part of the process, and I've seen many of those you used in other vids. As an incentive, you can create affiliate links to the items on Amazon, if they are there. Nonetheless, thanks for the vid and taking the time to edit it and upload it.
So glad it was helpful. The company sent us a replacement PC board and it resolved our fan issues. We have had it working and running basically non stop for almost a year now
Thanks for your video. That was a lot of work. Do you have a wiring diagram of how you put it together? It is difficult to apply this to another build.
We have had only 1 night in all our travels and nights where the batteries got too cold to charge. We were plugged into shore power and using an electric heater too but luckly they only stopped charging in the very early morning and I was able to wake up and catch the issue before we drained the battery. Personally we built this to chase the sun so I don't worry about them falling below freezing often.
Great video! Kind of a silly question but I plan on only having a twin size bed placed side to side across the back. Do you think all that solar stuff and electrical will fit under it utilizing part of the wheel well like you did?? Thanks!!
Wow that's an awful lot of wires! I was thinking of going off grid too.But...Is all that just to power a few lights and...what else?? Doesn't seem like it's worth all that work and money for components, wires, etc. Must've costed a fortune!
