Hey Tony, yeah our life got crazy. As you are fully aware. I am now editing film again that was taken over 2 years ago lol. Just want to finish this van build series. I got to catch up on your channel soon too!
@@DoubleAVaneries life has been crazy for me too this year. I ran out of film to edit early this month, and I’m currently on a break for a few months myself.
@ 11:05 I'm building an upper cabinet in my Sprinter. My brother says I should just build it in my basement and install it when it's done. He doesn't seem to get the whole "everything is sloped, angled..." thing. 15 trips later from of the basement might do it if you're lucky. Great video. I paused for this comment. Now back to the video!
I did my subfloor by myself using 2 x 2's and an inch of Poly ISO and 3/4 in plywood and it took me two week after work a few hours a night I sealed and painted the plywood and screwed down the plywood to the 2 x 2's using the cargo anchor bolts as additional support to hold the floor down without making any new holes in the floor. I'm now ready to tackle insulation. Yeah! Great video it show you don't need to have experience to do this.
I’m presently working on plans for a bed in a ram pro master 1500. How much Distance did you have from the top of your bed to the ceiling after installing your mattress ?
WOW! I didn't know how to finish around my bunk windows over my bed. You two have inspired me so much with the way you're building out your campervan. I'm learning so much!
You probably got this question already. Can you put links to the components you used. Wire - Fuses - Distribution Panel Bus Bars Etc. I'm going to have to revamp my electronics as well, they are rather slapped together now. Since I'm introducing a generator and then an AC unit, I've got to formalize the work. I have put it off probably because of indecision as to where to install things. Since real estate is limited, having to commit space for certain things means there is no way back and/or a waste of initial work if that location didn't work well. In any case, I've realized there are various phases you go through when venturing into van builds, and redesign seems to come no matter what unless you contract it out and pay big bucks. So, yea, gathering the components is part of the process, and I've seen many of those you used in other vids. As an incentive, you can create affiliate links to the items on Amazon, if they are there. Nonetheless, thanks for the vid and taking the time to edit it and upload it.
Nice build, will the AC shore power back feed into the inverter when its not being used and damage it as you are using a common AC ring main? Im not sure if i would need a transfer switch to isolate the two AC feeds from each other......inverters aren`t cheap!!
My man, thank you so much for posting this! I love how you break down the reason you use each piece and the function they have for your conversion! Wishing you and your van fam well <3
We have had only 1 night in all our travels and nights where the batteries got too cold to charge. We were plugged into shore power and using an electric heater too but luckly they only stopped charging in the very early morning and I was able to wake up and catch the issue before we drained the battery. Personally we built this to chase the sun so I don't worry about them falling below freezing often.
Wow that's an awful lot of wires! I was thinking of going off grid too.But...Is all that just to power a few lights and...what else?? Doesn't seem like it's worth all that work and money for components, wires, etc. Must've costed a fortune!
Great videos!! Curious if you guys got your Alurack from American Van? If so, did you consider the steel ladder rack instead of aluminum? It is roughly the same weight but half the cost. Trying to decide between the two?
Didn't it come with the instruction manual? I'm sure there is one on their website. We just followed the depictions which admittedly was difficult even with the visual aid but we got through it
So glad it was helpful. The company sent us a replacement PC board and it resolved our fan issues. We have had it working and running basically non stop for almost a year now
I don't know about anyone else but having Upper Cabinets in your van is a GAME CHANGER. No more storing everything in boxes on the floor taking up valuable space. What was your favorite part of your build?
So sorry for our long delay in posting videos. Life got very crazy and tragic as you may know if you follow our instagram. We appreciate everyone who stuck through with us. We plan to post videos frequently now as we have nearly completed the build and can't wait to answer questions and help others!
Your video is very informative and it's better than most well viewed videos. Yours trumps most of them and yet you only have less than 3k views after ten months. I have been watching similar videos for almost 5 months while converting my cargo trailer but I have never come across your detailed video. I think your careful selection of your titles would be a game changer. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for the feedback on the titles. We are not good at RU-vid but are SO GRATEFUL that our video has helped you. We took a bit of a break from social media but plan to be releasing more videos very soon!
Great video! Kind of a silly question but I plan on only having a twin size bed placed side to side across the back. Do you think all that solar stuff and electrical will fit under it utilizing part of the wheel well like you did?? Thanks!!
Thank you for watching. We just recently finished our build and I am now editing the next video for this series. We took a break from the editing and posting to focus on a few other projects and finishing the van. New video will be out very soon!!!
What ladder did you all buy? Does it work if the rack hangs out over the back quite a bit? I guess I'm asking how far does the ladder stick out from the door?
We bought the aluminum ladder from Prime Design. Same company that made the Alurack we have. Depending how high the rack sits it would work. I'll try and get a measurement. I saw a van in Grand Canyon yesterday that had a rack and deck that hung about 2 feet over the back. Was wondering how he gets up there lol didn't see a ladder
I’m currently doing my van build and I’m seeing people recommended doing wiring before insulation.. I see you did it opposite.. this I what I want to do as well.. what are your thoughts on this? Did you run into any trouble doing it this way? Thanks :)
Sorry for the late response. I wouldn't change how I've done any of my wiring. We still have it all behind walls and hidden. I would saw you can easily do at least 90% of your insulation before wiring.
