A few things you haven't mentioned: -The trading cities will just use your own ideas as their own. So if you pick Exploration/Expansion (you dont need to fill out the ideas, just pick the groups), they'll start with Explo/Expansion -If you don't want to spend lots of Stab on declaring on your trade cities, just use 50 reform progress to change to another reform that doesn't have trade leagues. Your trade cities will automaticallly get independence.

hmm, it might work with the Pronoia subjects to inherit it on ruler death without using diplo relations

Doing this with byz might be interesting. They get the ability to create client states quite early, and their pronoia system results in them not taking up relation slots

I haven’t tested this but possibly found something. Open Livonian order form Latagia, take exploration and admin ideas. Colonize Canada and move that one monument to capital for promote culture cost. Now at 70% promote culture cost form Austria and take the reform for another 33% -100% promote culture cost. Then form Prussia and conquer Silesia for mission. Reward is to loose 3 aggressive expansion flat every time you promote culture. It’s essentially free AE if it works. I’m gonna try it my next game

If you have the thalassocracy reform you can make client states and trade cities into trade protectorates which will not take up a diplo relation slot and will give you global trade power and goods produced modifier, I was able to bully my friend by doing this strat as venice

One small thing that wasn't mentioned: you can't create infinite client states, you can only create a total of 100 over the course of the game. That should be more than enough even if doing this exploit but it might impact someone who likes to use a lot of client states in their games

I wonder what's the speedrun for colonising all uncolonized provinces is, could you actually do it fast enough to do it all before 1500?

Make trade cities, convert them to trade protectorate, repeat this for every province and enjoy million ducat income

9:26 You cant stay shogun and move your capital to the new world. Also for anyone interested in this keep in mind that there is a limit for 100 cleint states and 75 trade cities ( or vice versa?) meaning you wont be able to create more than them

You can also do this by having a vassal, grsnting them the province, then declaring war on them and taking all the provinces except that one so they auto colonise. Used to do that a lot under the pre Leviathan system

I'm literally in the middle of a Ryukyu Three Mountains where I'm exploiting the client states from Mercenary and Influence by becoming the Shogun. This is great

this is more practical than you think, you make a trading city (they start with explo or expansion) subsidize them so they colonize, then bc they get another province it kicks them out of the trade league with no truce, then just annex them and repeat

You could also play as Byz, this removes a few issues with the strategy: - you can create client states without the idea group choice (you just need a specific t2 gov reform, this also works by just culture shifting to Greek) - you can turn your client states into pronoia, which don't take diplo slots and can be annexed for free (though it does take a while to do so)

You dont have to stay on the menu the whole time. Clicking on the colony last day and then waiting one day will give you the menu. The change from colonist coming to colony started is what triggers the bugged menu. Also you could just release the client states as ashikaga and then revassalize 5 years later

its not viable imo. you create a client state and colonize a province instatnly but that province is of no use to you and you have to wait the standard 10 years to diplo annex them back. stacking serttler increase and chance modifiers still seem a better idea, or developing an economy strong enough to tank the maintainance of 8 colonies with just 2 colonists. one of the best way to expand quick is just maintain colonies without colonists. if you have the cha ching for that though

I think you should show exploits openly more often. They are a lot of fun and the only 2 reasons not to talk about them arent really valid. A) They actively hurt achievements as a skill measure -> Invalid because you can just cheat any achievement in steam AND can cheat in ironman with no complexion at all. B) For multiplayer. There you obviously would ban these exploits anyway and player could once again just cheat way more subtle than having a exploit. Talking about it will also make it harder for people to do exploits in multiplayer games. Also for the vast vast majority EU4 is essentially a Singleplayer game

No you can't get whole north america by 1500. First of all 3 Idea groups, second of all there is 100 client state per game limit and that's mean you can do it "only" at 100 provinces. I don't "hate" this video but you didn't talked about this limit and described impossible scenario.
