Interestingly I noticed at 36:20 a shadow of a shipwreck appears below the lighthouse, one that isn't there during daylight hours and isn't visible later. I think you noticed it mid-musing and were immediately distracted by an ambushing rock.

"Nerd"-Talk (as you asked if Lighthouses are still relevant at 22:10): Lighthouses are still relevant (but mostly automatic nowadays). When sailing you rely on different ways to find your Position. Like GPS, Radar, buoys and Landmarks (for example Churches, Lighthouses). And at night you need illuminated aids like buoys and, again, lighthouses. Especially lighthouses can also aid in finding the right angle for a tight approach as they are stationary and can use different colored light to indicate the optimal angle. And not to forget: All electronics on a ship can fail and some ships aren't equipped with electronics at all. So a reliable help on land is very valuable.

If you keep playing this, which I hope you do, don't forget to equip books to read, they are passive upgrades that take time to learn essentially, and they work in the background while you putt around

Hint, you can use the eyeglass to find out what type of fish is in a location.

It's a timing based mini-game for the fishing. You can see it coming well in advance which is why its timing based and not reflex based.

Lighthouses are still very relevant even today. Navigation is still performed visually and they make for exceptional landmarks.

I get the feeling you need to actually use/read the books you receive to get the (presumably) benefits from them. You have three books that say "Read to unlock" which the "!" seem to indicate you haven't. I guess from context clues that reading them either will improve your stats in some manner or otherwise unlock something for you.

This reminds me of that one post somewhere describing a fishing sim that slowly turned into a survival roguelike or something as the game time progresses. You start by catching regular fish but as it goes on, you start to get weirder and weirder and larger fish until they start attacking your boat as well.

Is this gonna become a series here's hoping🤞🏻

fun trick i learned while playing the demo... store your inventory say a full deck full of fish in your storage at one island and pull it out at home not sure if it pauses the freshness of the fish but it will allow u to sell a ton more fish at once as the islands off the main one both let you access your storage and itll save time... anyways dude enjoy the tip

I'm curious, did you use the Envoy Horn weapons in Elden Ring? Apparently the middle one (Envoys Long Horn) is actually a pretty insane weapon. Also that moment at 33:49 reminded me of that INFAMOUS slave Tetris mini game from that game on slavery that really only got attention because of that now-removed mini game, and that's probably scarier than anything in this game.

Ah yes, the black grouper, a fish you were told only comes out at night, is clearly just in different waters. It’s not that you absolutely refuse to go out at night, it’s the waters! You’re fun to watch but nighttime travel’s risks/rewards is a big part of this game.

Nice fish tetris game, I’m interested in most eldritch theme game too. It’s just that the localised pricing here is just a little way too high.

So long as this game doesn't have a hard time limit (it's hard to tell whenever a game is obviously tracking days and notes "things take time"), this looks like a very enjoyable game. But if there's a hard time limit... then it just turns it into an optimization rush so to speak, which kind of kills off a lot of the enjoyability from this sort of game design.

wasnt the full release a few days ago? please tell me how its a cult classic. i would accept instant classic eventually depending on the spread of the game maybe a cult classic. i do believe this game will have to many fans to be considered a cult classic at any point

Can you edit these slightly? Great channel, content and commentary, but it is a little tiring siting through more than an hour of content. Try cutting the backtracking, or repetitive missions or quests.

Lol, the whole point is fishing, so why would there be a setting to make it easier.
