Eldritch horror has always been my favorite type of monster and I usually eat up anything associated with it. This looks no different

part of me is questioning how they just throw you onto another boat to go out fishing right AFTER you wash ashore after an accident. but i also remember fishermen are very stubborn, they never give up.

Man. Was waiting for someone in chat to tell him that when he pressed y to get to the logs you can see in the cabin and it has ur map and a bunch of other stuff he missed. Can't wait for the full game to come out.

I already love the look of this game and can't wait to get my hands on it. I've never really delved into eldritch horror genre, but always had an interest from a distance. This is absolutely something I want. A "comfort" fishing game mixed with the eldritch horror element works SO WELL

Seems like a promising game, one of my favorite artstyles as well!

I fished when I was a kid, so I get the body horror aspect of it. I never got back into it after I had kids (and moved to a desert) but now they make special hooks for catch and release that does less damage. The spike is shorter and there is no barb.

I wish all games had the audio filter from LOTRO. Can literally have it listen to current sounds, then you can go through those sound files and if there are any you cannot stand you can silence them. This works for ALL sound effects in the game. Just a shame the mmo is not as fun as it was a decade ago.

The art style kinda reminds me of Oh Sir: The Insult Simulator, which coincidentally also had H.P. Lovecraft as one of the playable characters.

this isnt the type of game id want to play, but I'd 110% watch a series when this comes out

I'm not sure how exactly I'd describe the game. It's narrative focused in a way, with it seems the main "plot" being to find the relics, or at least that's the first part. The journey is more what you're supposed to be hooked by with the moment to moment gameplay being something that just keeps your engagement as you're going from point to point in the plot (and paying attention to and engaging in the minigames means you do things faster which means more you can get done in the day because things are more dangerous at night). Lovecraftian stories tend to be slow burn types. You're fishing and dredging to earn money and improve your vessel, but everything has undertones of "there's more going on below the surface around here", which is classic Lovecraft. It seems overall that the higher your panic level, the greater the chance of negative events popping up, or at least they start occurring when it hits red. Like you say, this game is more about atmosphere and "experience" than any moment to moment activity, which really fits in with the themes they're drawing from.

The animations on the flies, why does it stand out so much? like it is legitimately good

This one is great. Genuinely. Extremely polished and (somewhat ironically) smooth sailing. Seems bug-free and the visuals, storytelling, and the like are excellent, with a lot of attention to detail. Only complaint is that the minigames are a little too simple (and really, the balance of the economy is also a bit wonky and oversimplified without the upgrades to gauge overall costs against), but the rest is incredible so far. May the rest of the game be just as much of a stunner in 2023.

poor fisherman having to deal with crunch time thanks to wander, no pizza party whatsoever , just work and no sleep at all. Wander is gonna get a gameover soon thanks to this, isnt he? or i wonder what ingame consequence will be had for not sleeping or taking any break at all.

This makes me wish the tumblr group for Lure didn't disband. This is a neat concept but that idea was both more cute less drab looking and more intriguing than what this seems to be getting at.

A game that is marketed as your standard fishing game and for the first 20 minutes or so you catch normal fish like bluegill and bass and what have you. But the further you go into the lake you start to catch fish with mutations and it gets more and more intense until you’re pulling in Eldritch horror monsters and sometimes severed human limbs. You realize you don’t recall how you got to this lake in the first place and the objective becomes to find your way back to shore. You have no real weapons but you can throw the creatures you’ve caught far away from the boat as a means to distract whatever is underneath you, bumping into the boat sometimes. Additional items for the game. A fishing pole with a radar that starts out with just beeps but later includes noises with hidden messages. A GPS that displays texts and story elements. You meet other boaters, all from various backgrounds, countries, and time periods. Some are friendly, others want to sacrifice you to the lake monsters. You can also take the route of sacrificing others to the lake monster. Or you can assemble a party and work to keep them safe. The more fucked up looking the fish you catch, the closer you’re getting to a boss fight, which is usually running from something you can only see part of in the water. ????
