I have followed at least 10 different ways to cook jasmine rice & failed terribly!! ....Until I found your video!!! My rice was perfect and did not even stick to the pot! I used 1:1 rice to water ratio. (I used the plastic cup that comes w rice bag to measure the rice. I used a regular measure cup to measure the water.) I washed rice until water ran clear, click rice button, seal valve, made sure the low pressure button was lighted, 12 min. Then NP for 10 min. Release valve and my rice was the most perfect ever! Thankyou so much for this video!!!
Hello Kim. I have been on WW since September and have benefitted from watching all your videos. I just want to say, I'm so thankful for the instant pot 101 series. It's so helpful. I have had my instant pot for over a year and never had the courage to try rice. I made jasmine rice today using your directions and it turned out perfectly!!! :) Thank you so much!
The IP works great with beef and pork roasts but for rice, even though it takes about 15 minutes longer, the good old fashion rice cooker is still the easiest was do cook rice. and get the same results. And, the rice cooker bowl and glass lid is easier to clean.
So, it didn't stick to the bottom of the pan at all???? No butter, no salt??? Interesting! I've not yet done rice in my IP but I'd like to. I'm making chicken with broccoli today & jasmine rice (my fav) would be the perfect accompaniment for it!
The starches and potential dirt n such that may be on your rice. It's really dampens the flavor of u don't rinse especially when it comes to long grain rice
I think it removes some of the starch and makes the rice cook better, but honestly I don’t know ....that’s just what I have always been told was to rinse the rice first.
@@PrepWhisperer certain rice requires to be rinsed due to dirt and debris and a bit of starch however jamine and basmati are visually pre rinsed similar to the brand minute rice. However you can still rinse if that's what you're accustom to
OMG! I just tried rice for the first time in my IP (Jasmine). I did the 1:1 rice to water ratio and also used the slow cook rice button (12 minutes + 10 min NPR). It was like restaurant rice! the best i've ever made! Jasmine rice was amazing!! (i also did not wash the rice..i've heard you do not have to do that. i'm not afraid of starch).
Thank you so much for doing this Kim. I still haven't pulled mine out but I bought some dried pinto beans at Kroger this week to try and do your refried beans. I'll let you know how it goes.
I agree, Leslie. I do 2cups rice and 2 cups + 2 Tbls of water or chicken broth. Set Manuel for 9 mins after time I set a timer for 5 mins then release pressure. Always perfect.
