Perfect ... Thanks Thas .. thought it would be too soft 20 mins plus more for rice. I did 20 mins on my IP meat setting then slow release 9 minutes, added rice more water salt coriander leaves.. then 4 min on rice setting followed by 4 minutes slow release. Used Bombay biriani masala but Thas method and timing

Thank you for the video. Thanks to you and your clear instructions my 1st biryani was successful. 🤩 only thing, probably not to use all 4 onions from the beginning. 2 for stir fry then keep other 2 for frying for later I guess. I put all 4 from the beginning but still good.

Glad to know you enjoyed this biryani :) I've added 4 medium sized onions, if you have large onions 2 should be good enough.

Excellent recipe! Even impressed my Desi friends (I'm not Desi), though I did bump the heat up a little for them, since they like things pretty spicy. To quote my boss - J's gonna be sharing cooking tips with the aunties at work now. 😆

The whole spices give the biryani it’s real aroma and flavor. Biryani is eaten with fingers so any whole spice you encounter while eating is put aside on your plate.

Bake it in the oven for 15 minutes. It will be even better.

Looks like a great recipe to try. Having trouble with getting it to print out on my printer ☹. Is it in your cookbook sold on Amazon?

What is the maximum amount of rice and beef ratio I can add to a 6 qt IP? And how much water should I add? Btw I love your recipes! So simple and tasty. I also love how you try to use no oil or coconut oil as healthier options but your flavor isn’t compromised.
@thasneen
@thasneen Год назад
In 6qt IP, 4 cups rice can be added, just double the recipe. For 4 cups rice 4 1/4 cups liquid is required while pressure cooking. Glad to know you love my recipes, thanks for your feedback :)

I dont have an instant pot. What would you suggest for the time required for cooking the same quantity of meat and rice in a good steel pot? I love that you avoid the use of artificial red colour. Thank you for recipe!
@thasneen
@thasneen 3 месяца назад
Over stove top, you can cook beef masala & rice separately. Beef has to be cooked for 30 to 40 minutes till it turns soft, let the liquid in the beef masala dry out and then add the cooked rice & combine well. Cooking basmati rice over stove top: for 2 cups basmati rice 3 1/2 cups water has to be added. Hope this helps, enjoy :)

Looks awesome. Have to try it out It looks like you had space to spare in your instant pot. Can you double everything and follow the same recipe or it doesn't scale up well....? Also the cups measurement you mention here are we talking metric? 250ml?
@thasneen
@thasneen 9 месяцев назад
Absolutely you can double the recipe. Ensure the amount of liquid is accurate: for 4 cups rice there should be total 4 1/4 cups liquid (beef broth left after pressure cooking + additional water we add) & rice pressure cook for only 6 minutes even for 4 cups. Yup, cup measurement is 250ml. This is a delicious biryani, hope you’ll enjoy 😊

Hi I made this today in my instant pot with double quantity. It came out perfectly! I did a small change and slow cooked the meat, then added rice into the same pot and pressure cooked. Thank you for the recipe.

Thas .. I plan to try making a beef roast, how long would it take to cut large chunks of beefs about 1 cup size chunks, as I plan to cut into slices and fry ... Sukka .. do you have a similar IP recipe?
@thasneen
@thasneen 4 месяца назад
Large beef chunks I would go with high pressure for 30 minutes. Enjoy.

I tried this and 2 times had the burnt food error. Once during the pressure cooking of beef, had to stop and add some water, and 2nd time after rice even after adding 1 extra cup of water. Managed to get some kind of final dish but didn't go as smoothly. Not sure where I went wrong
@thasneen
@thasneen Год назад
While pressure cooking beef water is not required, liquid will ooze out of the onions & beef & there will be enough liquid in the pot. Hope you’ve added onions as well. Is the burn happening every time you pressure cook? If that’s the case, Instant Pot might be over heating- some have reported this issue, you can contact the IP support & they will send you a new IP. Another option is add 1/2 cup water while pressure cooking beef. To cook rice, for 2 cups rice only 2 1/4 cups liquid is required- more liquid will make the rice mushy. Do measure the liquid to cook rice. Hope this helps.

In the Instant Pot, 8 cups of white basmati rice you have to add 8 1/4 cups water. Hope you are using 8 quart IP. Enjoy this biryani, do let me know your feedback :)
