These few games have felt like competitive games. The Ecuador vs Argentina friendly was tense like a knockout game. The US vs Brazil also had a tense and suspenseful vibe like a tournament game.

I think the two players that suffer the most when Tyler Adams doesnt start are Weston McKennie and Gio Reyna. They are forced to play more defensively, cover more space without Tyler out there. I actually thought Weston played a good defensive mid type role against Brazil, even if that isnt his natural role when everybody's healthy and available

@@RDSports5 Reyna plays horrible with Adams on the field. I think hes like the mls players that only can play against weak teams. His time at Dortmund he only played well against the weak teams.

@@RDSports5 form the last two friendly's Gio was the worst player on the field. In this sport you're only as good as your weakest player. He is the reason usa lost to Brazil. honestly think about kicking him off the squad if Sargent is healthy.

I don't think Columbia will even make it out of the group. I think usa will make it to the semi against Brazil or Argentina and lose. the final will be Argentina vs Brazil. usa will be in third place. I honestly wouldn't be surprised is usa ends up wining the whole thing. Messi just playing for fun so hes not going to want to win as badly. I think we have the ability to beat Argentina or Brazil

From the games I’ve seen of USA vs Brazil to me personally the best one was the 2009 confederation cup final when USA was up 2-0 but eventually lost 3-2 . That same USA team led by Dempsey and Donovan took down the mighty Spain 2-0 in the semis

I was at the match. Geo Reyna is the man. It's hard to look good vs Brazil but he has the type of passing, technical and control game that actually works against teams like that. They usually confound our team with the passing game but Reyna is able to do the exact same thing to them. We don't have anyone else that is like this player. To Berhalters credit...he has been starting Reyna and giving him a full chance and Reyna has come through "aces" up to now.

Pulisic was the standout man for the team. He showed zero respect for Brazil and was only lacking finesse in the finishing that could have won the game for US.

I am Brazilian, my first cup that i remeber was the 1994 Cup that was amazing, but today i sleep seeing the brazil matches. Vini Jr need pass more the ball, Eua played very well with Pulisic... the EUA goalkeeper is good too. To lines in defense of EUA, working in counter atack.. Modern Soccer is horrible. Here, our hope is the Endrick. Congratulations to EUA, because the real game is 2X1 to EUA. Alysson saved us.

Argentinian here, sometimes they makes silly mistakes in defense, if they correct that, they could compete against any top team. The USA team should look for difficult games to prepare for the World Cup. It is surprising that they have reached this level in a short time.

Great game very entertaining but let me be clear Brazil proved to be a vulnerable team when it was attacked. USMNT improved from the catastrophic previous game but still a long way to go to become a true competitor.

@@radielkill I didn’t say we were good defensively as a team did I? I said one specific player, who doesn’t usually do a ton of work defensively, actually did a good job defensively that game. Nobody mentioned anything about the other 10 players on the field or whether or not Brazil was aggressive

Not to take anything away from the result but this Brazil team isn't so impressive to me. Vinicius is a terrific player but I hesitate to say he's at the level of Neymar or quite that tier. And in competitive games thus far for qualifying, they are winless in their last 4 games and sit SIXTH in the 10 team table.

Richards shows little confidence or building from the back quality( had one good tackle) I disagree about Musah a bit. Musah had a good start, but clearly quit on a couple plays, 1 leading to a goal & 1 lead to a good counter. Richards worries me the most. We need to build from the back and who do we have coming up that can do that? Scally did show up👏

Musah has a very low motor and had poor first touches multiple times. Cannot overrate him because of one shot (that didn’t even go in)

USA is stronger than most people think. I think our problem is that Berhalter is so adamant on playing a possession oriented style and playing out of the back when our strength is transitions and overlapping on the flanks when we have numerical advantages. Specifically against Brazil in the 2nd half, Brazil was focused on playing a mid block and winning the ball in the midfield and going on the transition.

Good job defending against an onslaught from Brazil. Granted this isnt the same Brazil from before. But its still Brazil. So we showed we don't have to be mousy against a world superpower. It probably helps that we have so many good players at top level in Europe. It's encouraging that we have a history of good goalkeepers. Keller, Friedel, Howard, and now Turner.

I agree! Matt can stop balls, but he absolutely sucks with his feet. We pass back to him way to much and every time we do, I shudder. Westin is a consistent disappointment...highly skilled but takes cheap shots and little-to-none, in-your-face aggressive play. Westin loves to jog around and watch opponents set up plays. SMH. Will we EVER break the wall to the next level?

The US had their forwards on top of their own box. The strategy was to counterattack and set plays. 39% ball possession. If you are happy with defensive soccer that’s fine, but it showed me Brazil was way superior.

The problem is when the USMNT loose to a big team we bounce back every time but the usmnt need to play like they want to win every game especially when playing big teams. Berhalter isn’t the answer, a different coaching system can bring the best out of our players, the quality is there.

It's not about being fair lAexis, we are not easily beguiled by a decent performance. Ever since Berhalter was rehired, you have become more of a GGG apologist. You simply don't have the guts (for whatever reason) to admit Berhalter is not the level of coach these kids need. Of course. it's not GGG's fault, as McBride stated in Golazo podcast, we're stuck with him (GGG) as the USSF wokeness has and is directly affecting the USMNT's potential with that stupid equal pay for both coaches. As McBride stated, USSF doesn't have the financial resources to pay for 2 coaches.

Alexi smh, smh… ofc it is not easy to get scored on when you are playing with 10 defensive players the second half. Meanwhile the opposing team is attacking with 4 players and still generating shots on goal. USMNT got plenty to worry about. And lets not forget. Brazil just came off a thrilling match against Mexico. Which surely left them gassed. Lets be fair 🤔

"Gassed" with a tournament around the corner and swapped lineups - the BETTER lineup facing the US? "Thrilling" 3-2- LOSS for Mexico featuring easily one of the worst Mexican AND Brazil sides I've seen in my lifetime? 2:26 This is one of the biggest knocks against Greg. Historicly he has always liked playing from the back so I think that is what he wants to do. However Matt is terrible with his feet Matt either needs to use his hands or kick the ball as hard as he can down field and the USMT plan would be to press in tradition not slow development from the back and greg is either telling them to play that way or he is not telling Matt he needs to stop playing that way.

These boys shook off that L, and turned their entire game up some notches...and it showed the entire match, from start to finish. The US men looked rested, faster, focused, and locked in! I feel great as an American fan going into COPA; and mark it Alexi...I called it a year ago; after their 3rd straight Nations League...US and this special generation of players, will be in a semi in Copa...and will get their revenge when IT COUNTS...against Colombia!" I'm an American, so I will always cheer and go to bat for our team...win or lose. But I've been a die-hard Brazilian fan; since I was 16...and I'm 45 now, so I hate I hate I hate...when they play each other. But in this case, the US NEEDED this, Brazil didn't...and they know them and a world-class roster; will be just fine. So for that reason, I was happy to see US draw and not get absolutely decimated!"

lol if you’re really Brazil fan than you should know that this is the weakest collective Brazilian team in a long time. They’re mid table in qualifiers losing to everybody and even tying against Venezuela. Tone it down a bit. You should make it out of the group stage because you’re in a terrible group but that’s as far as you go since there’s no shot you’re getting past Brazil or Colombia in the next round. Semis for USA? My views and opinions are based on now and today's AWESOME performance. Using that, and how this group has performed and dug deep to pull out wins in the last four years...I feel confident with my verdict. Could I be wrong, of course...but so what🤷🏽‍♂ Right now though, for me...I see Colombia putting Brazil out in the quarters, the US putting Colombia out in the semis in a much needed revenge game, and the US losing to Argentina in the final or......or, the US getting that revenge in front of that ruckus home crowd and energy, and knocking out Argentina and rewriting that drubbing the US took by Argentina in the last Copa America.

Alexi - Get off the Berhalter train. You know this team doesn't have a chance of doing anything worthwhile with him as coach. He is in over his skis against top international teams and those are the teams we need to be competing against at the world cup. Very disappointing to me to have the most talented squad in our history being led by a schlock.

We played well overall, much more connected than against Columbia. That said, its in games like these against the powerhouse teams that you really miss Adams and Dest. We missed Tyler's ability to run all day and cover up for any mistakes and any gaps in the middle, and you miss Dest's offensive support and pure talent. I thought Jedi continued to show that he's good to a certain point, against certain teams, but against the best in the world, I'd rather have a healthy Dest on the left and Scally stays on the right

Misspelled. It's COLOMBIA not Columbia.

The 3 CONCACAF teams probably aren't as bad as they were in their first friendly game. However, once Copa America begins, in the absolute best of circumstances, i.e, with lots of luck favouring them, I still can't see any of them being able to make the Copa America final. Now all that said, what are my MINIMUM expectations for my team, Canada? 1. Be competitive against Chile and Peru. 2. Don't lose to Argentina by more than 3 goals. 3. Score a goal in the tournament. 4. Get at least 1 draw after the 3 group stage matches. If any of one of those conditions are broken I will likely walk away feeling disappointed with CanMT's overall achievements at Copa America 2024. What are my MINIMUM expectations for the 5 other CONCACAF teams? - MEXICO: (i) Looking competitive in ALL their 3 group matches - if they don't advance, OR, (ii) Advancing to QFs. - US: (i) Must advance to QFs otherwise it's a disappointment -JAMAICA: Same expectations as MEXICO. - PANAMA: (i) Look competitive against Bolivia and look competitive in either one of their Uruguay & US group matches. COSTA RICA: (i) Look competitive against Paraguay and look competitive in either one of their Brazil & Colombia group matches.

Berhalter has to put together a string of games where they look good before we start giving him any kudos. What is that now, two games out of 5 1/2 years? Cmon, BJ was apart of more good games than this coach! Stop rewarding Berhalter for less than mediocre coaching

It was a good game for the USA after giving up with Columbia 5-1 .It could easily have been Brazil 4-2 except the US Goalie had a great night .

This Brazil team is weak. There is a reason they are number 6 in Conmebol qualifying for the World Cup at the moment. They’ve lost against Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay and tied against Venezuela. They have amazing players but for some reason they don’t play well together.

In the 1998 USMNT vs Brazil victory 1-0 I don't think Steve Sampson or the Team went into that game "Oh my God if we win.. it's impossible because Brazil is Elite" kind of talk. It's question of respecting all opponents, but never more than you respect yourself. I'm afraid some of the current USMNT players when they hear Media talk about Elite adversaries, that will affect some of them negatively. You have to basically remind the players that if you want it bad enough you can beat any team. Then progress from there game after game. Since that year in 1998, the old concept that there are Elite Teams, stopped existing. Croatia in 1998 was not expected, and again in 2018 For the USMNT to be like Croatia or Morocco, they have to respect everybody, but never more than they respect themselves. Again it depends on what Berhalter is cooking.. Does Gregg want the other teams to think his team is weak? This is the time to set that up. Or, maybe he is having difficulties!!? Bottom line, some of the principles don't change regardless who the coach is, one of them is the Respect issue. You have to be a Proud group of players all while respecting all adversaries.

The VAR was a couple of usmnt fans. There's no way you can call that foul on one side the brazil player got the ball and pulishit kicked him after he got the ball then turn around and go to VAR on the other side and take back the yellow card that was clearly a foul. Denial of a goal

Win a World Cup is the goal? How about put 2 solid performances together in a row? This team takes every opportunity it gets to play poorly, if they don’t sense urgency they play lazy and get smacked. Winning a World Cup requires 7 or so games in a row playing at a level better than last night. SEVEN! This team has no sense of urgency and thinks they can stroll at times. Until they string together many solid performances together in a row they are a bad team. Look everywhere in this sport, nearly any team club or country can play well for one game at a time. Get better, become winners! Not just good players. Only winners win.

I never wanted GGG hired, did no want him rehired and the only thing to change my mind would wins vs Uraguay and a knockout stage win. Columbia nor Brazil is barometer to keep him or not. We have to eventually turn a corner to playing a better brand of soccer, we have to eventually stop the kids are young excuse and that has to happen before 2026. These pacified and scripted questions in press conferences has to stop. Treat Greg with same energy you treated Klinsmann and yeah I would have fired him after CR as well. I thought team played much better vs Brazil.

You have to give Coach Berhalter the benefit of the doubt and stick with him through Copa America. It's not the 1-1 Result against Brazil but it's the fact that the players do show enough quality to think better of them. They can win a Cup, they have enough talent. The problem with changing coaches at this point is you take a bigger risk without knowing what is going to happen. With Gregg you have a good idea about the team as a whole, if you trust him with the Copa America you may win or you may lose but you are not going to start from zero. He can win. You have to allow your coach a lost like what happen against Columbia so he can look at his players and try to convince them to give more. It's helping the coach and his staff. That's it, one competition and then you need to reassess everything. If he wins Copa America he continues as head coach of the USMNT, if he loses you make the change you need to.

That foul or should i say dive that lead to pulisic freekick couldn't be reviewed because it was outside the box but somehow a similar foul that favored Brazil outside the box was reviewed AFTER being called and overturned which refs are not allowed to do but it was obvious the ref didn't want usmnt to lose... not to mention how they parked the bus after that 1-1.*

Alexi, you are relentlessly forgiving of Berhalter. He is consistently out coached and inflexible in tactics. He - and all of us - need to be very realistic about the players we have and how to play against different teams. We need to be less predictable and more creative. And it seems like players are scared under Berhalter to take risks. We are not tier 1 and sometimes not even tier 2. And that should be our near term goal with this group - to be a top tier 2 team.
