More fun with the smallest Fujifilm X-Trans interchangeable lens body - the X-M1. This time with the 7Artisans 18mm f6.3 lens. I've already covered this lens, but this is really where it shines. The X-M1 is near the same height and only a little wider than the Fujifilm X70 compact camera from a few years back. A camera with an 18.5mm lens on an APS-C X-Trans II Sensor. Those can still go for a good price these days. So what if you wanted a Fujifilm camera with that focal length (shared with the likes of the Ricoh GR series)? And pocketable? Well, one way to do it is with the old X-M1 body - an entry level body with an X-Trans I sensor, same as the X-Pro1 and X-E1. But much cheaper and smaller! And if you put the 7artisans 18mm f6.3 'UFO' lens on it - you effectively have a simple point and shoot camera for every day carry where a larger camera might not venture.
Now, this lens is simple - pan focus (everything is effectively in focus), fixed aperture. It's not much thicker than a Fujifilm body cap. You can easily slip this into most pockets. And it's more fun in most cases than a phone. The pictures have their own unique quality to them. They're not bad at all! Just a bit different sometimes. But this is a great lens to have when out and about in daylight.
And then unlike an X70 or other compact camera, you are not stuck with this lens.
