I don't have lipedema. I just stumbled across this video. I MUST commend you for actually caring about PEOPLE enough to go the extra mile for those suffering with the condition. Kudos, doc. You are a rarity these days.
Trying to get an official diagnosis, which is sadly prooving difficult in Western NY. I've been researching Surgeon's and you're on the TOP of my short list! I'm looking forward to a consult with you! However I currently have straight Medicare and Medicaid, and am looking to switch to Aetna or Humana hmo. 🙏🙏 This is great info. How do you find a Dr when Dr’s don’t know what it is? I went to a vascular surgeon on May 25th and he had no idea what I was talking about. He said I don’t have LYMPHEDEMA. I said, that’s not why I’m here. He then googled Lipedema and recommended I see a plastic surgeon. Talk about lack of concern.
I am a very poor single mom who had Gastric bypass surgery and I lost 100 lbs since the start of the process but my legs are still huge. My underarms hang so low that I burn them while cooking. They are thick underneath as well. I am struggling just to get diagnosed properly. I swim, am starting with compression soon. I know this is what I have but with medicaid it's so hard to get any treatment.
I have been diagnosed with stage 4 Lipedema and would love to get treatment so i can do normal daily activities without so much pain. How do I go about getting treatment? Please let me know. Thank you so much.
Dr Schwartz, I’m on Medicare and looking at new plans for 2023. I am on an advantage plan but considering straight Medicare with a Medigap plan. I have looked for lipedema providers in my area but so far the only one I found was 5.5 hrs away and she doesn’t accept Medicare plans. Can you recommend a medigap insurance plan you have found cooperative? I will likely have to go quite a distance for care. Thank you for your help.
