To fellow big-legs sufferers: go one step up, go carnivore (its keto but without plant foods) and intermittent fasting. I was losing weight slowly on a standard keto diet which includes vegetables, nuts, avocado etc. It was good, but I found something better. I kept encountering carnivore diet videos and while initially very resistant of the idea of cutting out plant foods (a lifetime of indoctrination that plants are good and necessary), I decided to look closer and listen to what they were saying: "eliminating plant foods fixes many auto-immune and inflammation diseases in some people". So, I decided to try it for 30 days, see for myself. I was already keto-adapted so the transition was very quick. I have now passed 60 days in carnivore and won't be stopping because it was like I put my foot on the accelerator and took off!!! Going from standard keto to carnivore gave me a huge boost in fat loss, energy, mental clarity, sleep, mood, motivation. Also I want to stress that I dramatically increased my fat intake too, I add cream, butter, suet to my daily meal of meat/fish. This is important. I let go of the decades of "saturated fat = bad" indoctrination. I eat once per day without feeling hungry in between, i have no cravings, it's so, so EASY. I don't count calories or weigh food, just eat until i have had enough, which turns out to be about 500g of meat/fish for me. I have added one day per week of complete fasting (tea/coffee are ok). I did this to boost the benefits of autophagy, it has added to the healing and well-being I am feeling. The hard fat in my legs, hips and bum is now soft and squishy, it's a weird feeling, it's melting. I can cross my legs over when I sit now, I haven't been able to do that for a decade because my thighs got so large. I can walk normally again instead of waddle, and I can take long strides again, which i was unable to do due to hard fat restricting mobility. I am still rather shocked that to cure myself of fatness I have to eat extra fat - it's so counter-intuitive, but it works!! - not through deliberate calorie restriction (the bad old days) but through hormones, biochemistry magic, satiety, pain-free fasting. Its such a paradigm flip, its mind blowing. I have been going 6 months in total, (4 months standard keto, then 2 months carnivore so far) 30kg down, 20kg to go, no plateau, acceleration when I switched to carnivore. So it turns out I am one of those people who do better without plant food. I am still getting my head around that! I highly recommend trying it, putting aside ingrained prejudice you may have from a lifetime of believing that plants are required for good health, and just try something that seems radical. It might be as good for you as it has been for me and many, many others. Won't know unless you try.

Pain goes away with carnivore at least 50% of it by day 3rd or 4th but the gastro issues with Carnivore is something else😅

Omg I love this comment. I fast and am doing carnivore now because I can't eat nightshade etc. I've actually lost loads of weight fasting and I'm hoping carnivore can help with a reset and inflammation caused by food.

@marysimonThanks! I wrote that 4 months ago, I was so happy and excited and mind-blown, ... and still am. I've lost another 10kg. Getting closer to my goal now so I finally hit a bit of a plateau a few weeks ago. I am working through it, trying some things. But hey, that's still amazing: 10 months before a plateau compared to every 3 weeks back when I would try a typical calorie restriction torture diet. It's still easy, I am not even thinking of quitting for a second. I. Love. Carnivore. Rarrr!

@@Cari777Yeh I had the runs when I first started, maybe first week only, but that cleared up quickly and since then it's been great. My Dr asked me to consider taking a fibre supplement but I said no way, since giving up plants and fibre actually cured the (at times severe) constipation and back-door bleeding. Poops are smaller and fewer and I can't remember when I last farted. Sorry to be rather forthright about it.

@@tatianatitus8485Thanks, yes I too discovered I can't eat nightshades a few years back when i finally twigged that I would get gut pain next day after eating tomatoes. I hope carnivore clears up your inflammation and pain as it has for me. There's a really good chance it will work for you too.

I have done keto since 2018 and lost 25 lbs. Dec 2019 I started Carnivore almost a year later I have lost no more weight. But I have either been keto or carnivore since then simply to try and not gain. I also have some cystic fibrosis variations. 40-50 % of people with cystic fibrosis become diabetic. A few months ago I did some food testing. I found out I have an intolerance to dairy and eggs. So depressing to not lose and have all these self imposed food restrictions just trying to maintain .

Thank you for this video. I tried every possible diet to lose weight and to help with lipedema, even keto. I have not been having sugar, carbs for many years and for last 1 months off veg and fruit now. Still no weight loss. I have lipedema, fibromyalgia, flat feet and varicose vein’s operated on but have swelling and pain now, diabetes 2(which is amazingly under control with meds and change of eating for first time in years) NAFLD reversed. I take tons of supplements, find compression garments so difficult to use as I enjoy loose clothing, I have compression machine, massage gun and not so faithful with brushing nd home self care. I wish there was an easier way to help this condition. Top it all our medical aids doesn’t cover treatment .

The problem is, keto is really hard to keep up with, especially with us middle easterners since our cuisines are mostly made of carbs(our main meal is rice), i'd say lipo is the way to go if it can be afforded.

I'm for sure that is what is on my left leg. When I eat too many carbs it hurts like crazy. Today I started low carb. It seems to feel better. Trying to gradually do let. My last doctor I had. He looked at my leg. I don't think he knew really what it was. But I have read that carbs can cause swelling and high inflammation.

Thank you so much for your video. I am 64 years old and hve struggled with lymphodema for many years. I have tried all the diets out there and I am very over weight too. For the last month i have started implementing keto into my life and I must say that my leg swelling is almost gone and I have lost 13 pounds. I also noticed that I am not as hungry and dont want to eat sugary and salty junk foods either. I need to get hip replacement but need to get my BMI under 40. The pain has decreased but I need to do more exercise. What exercises can I do to help lose more weight?

it can affect the lower belly nd breast as well. After my first child my breast kept growing, feeling the same lumps inside as in my legs. Doctors called it out of ordinary breast growing lol. Of course no one spoke about lipedema 35 years ago. I waterfasted for 2 month before and gained weight. Anyone else would die

The people in this small study did lose weight but this does not necessarily mean that it resolved lipodema. Were any of the patients actually diagnosed with this condition or simply overweight/obese?

There is a lipodema Facebook group many of those women are having great success with keto . I myself have not been diagnosed but my sister has recently . I believe I have it also as I have round fat nodules under my skin and bruise very easily . My ob thought I had low platelets since I had a lot of bruises on my legs but I’ve bruised easily since my teens she checked that and a couple other things all was fine . I get pain in legs with just my 5 year old pushing slightly on me used to think my husband was tickling very hard but going keto I’ve lost so much inflammation the pain is much less down 65 lbs . It’s normal to be skeptical. I don’t believe anything without proof but it probably wouldn’t hurt to try for yourself .

Resolved as in vastly improved: yes, 40kg down, the hard fat that restricted movement became soft and squishy, the lumpy nodules shrank, fluid retention gone, systemic inflammation and pain gone, mental function vastly improved. Still have some fat loss to go, i have loose skin left over but that can't be helped at my age. Cured? Doubt it, have to remain very low carb for the rest of my life I suspect. It's a hormonal thing this lipo, and keto is a hormonal therapy, its not just a calorie deficit thing. Or, as some say, it's how humans evolved and our natural state - not eating grains and sugar from the recent agricultural age.

If the weak connective tissue is not cured, lipidema is not cured. These people that think that carnivore and keto cure everything are insufferable.

Good morning, does it neet to be like a strict keto diet ? Or just a low carb diet ?
@Selfcaretherapy
@Selfcaretherapy Год назад
In our course, we recommend aiming at as low as 20 g of carbohydrates per day if your doctor approves. However, there are so many individual differences that it is not known exactly how strict it will need to be to get the benefits. Experiment and track the results to find out what works. Hope to see you in our next live webinar. self-care-therapy.mykajabi.com/Lymphaticlifestylesolutions

I'm a long term vegan with lipedema who stopped eating animals in childhood. I manage very well on a plantbased diet. All other chronic conditions were gone 100% by eating plant-based. I noticed that people who eat a lot of meat and dairy have a strange body odor (no offence to anyone). I believe it is the keto effect that gives "results" - not the flesh they are eating. I had a lot of progress eating raw fruits and vegetables (in phases of about 6 months). Without stinking. Check out Dr. Brooke Goldner (her focus is on auto immune diseases and an anti-inflammatory diet)
