Intense Fire at Auto Body Shop Early Arrival

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn - A fire broke out at an auto body shop. This happened just after midnight around 12:05 am Wednesday, at 845 Dean St, within the confines of the 77th Precinct. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke upon arrival. Multiple saws were in operation to saw open multiple garage doors to gain access into the building. Searches for victims yielded negative results. Cause of the fire pending fire marshall investigation.

I must have missed the "intense fire." I saw a lot of sparks. The lack of eye protection by the guys with the saws got my attention, too. No eye protection -- that's just stupid.

Well the "I hope they're insured." is just about a cliche that can used for anything. The rest of the argument, I make my own decisions. It get filed under "unverified info for later use"

I suspect that the place is heavily locked up being in the area it is in. When doing internal attack, it's important to make sure you have at least one (preferably more) escape routes in case the fire re-ignites behind your back and blocks your exit. So they likely not only cut the roll-up door but also broke the man door(s), etc...

I can't speak for every door, but most industrial type roll-up doors have the locking mechanism on the inside to keep someone from running up with a pair of bolt cutters to get inside in a matter of seconds. Unfortunately, many autorepair shops are in a lower rent neighborhood to keep the rent down. Thus, the heavy doors.

Some of these members need to use their facemasks or at the least put your damn Bourkes down when using the saw.Those sparks can do a lot of damage to the eyes.And it's not just FDNY,either.A lot of guys don't bother with eye protection.Rant over.Great video.

why dont some of the smaller vehicles have a portable ram to knocked in those doors attach it and push or punch either way those doors will come down i doubt it would hurt the structural integrity concidering the place is burning down to start with.

They are done running hoses and waiting access, and done with doors. The first in truck probably caught the fire and all these others are the ones who would be saving the neighborhood if it "Went Big" I would rather have a few standing around ready to go than none and help coming from 15 minutes out. One of the inefficiencies of emergencies they are by nature as messy as a portapotty at a chili convention where some slipped exlax in the koolaid.
