Bio -
Phil Daru is the Head trainer for some of the top athletes in the world and creator of Daru Strong Training Systems and founder of Daru Strong Performance Center. Daru has degrees in sports medicine and exercise science from Alabama State University where he played division 1 football. Holding certifications with Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC) Functional Range Movement Specialist (FRCms) and Kabuki Movement Specialist (NSCA-KMS).
Daru then began a career in MMA and turned professional at 21 years old where he then developed his own systems for training fighters. Daru has also competed in strongman, bodybuilding, and Bjj Gi and No Gi and currently competes in powerlifting. He has worked with well over 200 plus fighters including world champions like Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Dustin Poirier, Edson Barboza, Junior Dos Santos, Frankie Edgar, Tecia Torres, King Mo Lawal, Andrei Arlovski and many others. Coach Daru is a two time award winning Trainer of the Year for the Florida MMA Awards and Nominated for the Trainer of the Year for the World MMA Awards. He has been globally recognized for his contributions in combat sports performance and has traveled to over 10 countries teaching and mentoring. This is what I love about Muay Thai padwork. Focused on strength, technique and functional. Not flash, or unrealistic 20 punch combos.

That was a good session. I always choose shadow boxing as the warm up with or without skipping rather than something non specific like the bike but it’s all done to preference. I find shadow boxing is the closest thing to sparring that you can do.

This was awesome! Since I do more Muay Thai than any other combat sport ( with a background primarily in bodybuilding / powerlifting) It's always good to see others going through the fundamentals. Thar guy's are great pad holder 👊😎

I loved the sequence of doing the power work at your freshest. I've found when people hold pads for me they want power shots near the end of the session when I'm running on fumes. Excellent work!

I felt that frustration at the end. It wasn't much. Good control, good composure, good movement, good discipline in general. But when I get tired after a good session, I sometimes get a but frustrated. Especially cuz it seemed like the more technical stuff that requires a little bit of thought, or patience, was put at the end of the session just before the heavy bag. That's something I'm not really used to. Looks like it's time to go back to work.

Traditional MT workout? Start with an expensive electronic stationary bike? Anyway-MT is awesome. We used to start some rounds with 10 fast kicks either side-just to make sure you are really fucked.
