9:57 Actually, It is quite historically accurate at this point. Both the Archduke and his wife died in the second attempt after the driver took a wrong turn right in the street where the Serbian Asassin was. They actually just visited the hospital where the wounded officers, by the bomb, were stationed. The fact that there was a 'Kingsman' that slammed the bomb away from the car is not how it happened though. The bomb just missed the first car and blew up the second one.

Hey guys! Something that's actually kind of remarkable about this film is, despite what may be easy to assume (especially by Hollywood's standards), this film actually goes to great lengths to be historically accurate. Here are some incredible examples: - Archduke Ferdinand's assassination, from the bombing attempt on the road to the literal sheer luck that the car just happened to pass by the assassin again while he was having coffee. - Rasputin as a whole, from his bizarre personality and actions, to the fact that he did actually take poison in small doses to be immune. - Rasputin's death in the movie is actually kind of a quick compilation of all of the attempted ways to kill Rasputin, from being stabbed multiple times, to attempted poisoning, to be being shot to even being drowned. Hell, the actual circumstances around his death are actually kind of mythologized so much already that what this movie proposes is actually not too far off base. - The circumstances of the Great War (World War I) starting and the sort of "sibling rivalry" that it could boil down to - The Zimmermann Telegram was a very, VERY real thing that I was shocked to see referenced in this, and while the movie makes it to where our protagonists are the reason its eventually discovered/decoded, hilariously the real life reason it came about was practically by complete accident - The trench warfare scenes were all extremely accurate to various accounts from those front lines - The whole plotline with President Wilson not entering the war for quite some time - The aftermath of the Romanov family and the rise of Lenin and the Russian Revolution - Actually having a Hitler with a normal mustache before the whole tiny mustache thing, which he adopted from its popularity with Charlie Chaplin (and others) And I'm sure many other things I missed. But I absolutely love that just because this was a Kingsman movie set in the past, it didn't decide to go batshit insane with the history. Just thought I'd point some of the things out! Disclaimer: I'm not a historical expert by any means, if there's anything I'm incorrect about, or if there's even more great examples, feel free to let me know! Edit: Also wanted say, the tonal shift actually makes this one my favorite of the three films personally. I found The Golden Circle to push the craziness a bit too far for my tastes. This was a nice reigning in for me that I enjoyed a lot more and in my opinion, proves that these films can adopt many different genre types and not just "stay in its lane."
@awmperry

The circumstances of Kitchener’s disappearance are also remarkably accurate within the bounds of the plot.

the only thing that bugs me about the movie is when he says "what right did we have to kill those just defending their homeland" and then goes on to show a joint campaign between Britain and Egypt to put an end to slave trading through the Sudan. i feel they did their research surrounding WW1 but didn't do enough about the 2 conflicts that they referenced before WW1 (Anglo-Egyptian conquest of Sudan and the Boer wars). side note: the Zimmerman telegram wasn't as much an accident as the Germans used British communication lines to send the message, practically used Britain as the postman to deliver their plans to mexico.
@bigenglishmonkey

before i forget theres also the little nod to Alexei (tzar Nicholas's son) when Rasputin came to the palace he found the doctor treating Alexei's hemophilia with aspirin (a blood thinner) which is the opposite of what you want. Rasputin took him off aspirin then his chanting calmed Alexei down slowing his heart rate, the tzar put this down to magic since nobody knew at the time what the problem was. in the movie when Rasputin gives Alexei a drink with white powder (the aspirin), its actually Rasputin forcing Alexei to have a fit (that he knows he can cure later) to force the tzar to pull out of the war.

Rasputin is a super interesting character, historically as well, not just in the movie. He did actually take a bit of poison every morning to build up a resistance, so that he would survive if he was ever poisoned - clever man, albeit somewhat unorthodox to say the least. There's a movie simply titled Rasputin from 1996, Alan Rickman stars as Rasputin and Ian McKellen plays Tsar Nicholas II - it's actually a really good movie which I think you would enjoy.

This movie is actually more historically accurate than one might think LOL. From the assassination by Gavrillo Princip (who was in fact a member of a secret organization called Black Hand) to the depiction of Rasputin and what / how he did things o.O he had these absolutely crazy methods of healing, like licking wounds and stuff. He also refused to take a bath, and was smelly AF, and he did ... somehow ... heal the Tzar's son to manipulate the family. Even the fact that he was hard to kill is kinda real, I'm not sure if it's just a legend but as far as I know he survived 3 assassination attempts, poison, drowning and being shot. Yall are welcome to correct me, but tbh... in my personal opinion he remains one of the scariest men to have ever lived. FYI his healing did actually work most of times.......................... O.O oh... and.. khm. he was also a sex addict....

I remember I couldn't pick my jaw up off the floor after Conrad's death for like, 5 minutes, to survive the scene he just had and to be shot by friendly fire (I just realized while watching this reaction that the actor that shot him plays Elrond in Rings of power) was so upsetting to me. I really enjoyed the mix of history and fiction, my favourite was all the ways Rasputin was injured before dying, it's kind of insane how much it took to finish him off. BTW he was a really interesting case in regards to having "abilities" as I think the Tsar's son had hemophilia and he supposedly cured it, idk how, since it's a genetic disorder.

Ya’ll seemed unaware of some of the history of Ferdinand and Rasputin. The Archduke and his wife DID both die in the 2nd assassination attempt. From a young age Rasputin would always eat or drink a bit of poison everyday and his body built up a tolerance to it so when the people first tried to kill him with poison it was a failure. They then tried shooting him, but he kept living and ran away so they shot him again then tied him up and drowned him.😅He was scrappy. It CAN’T “feel” like a Kingsman movie because it’s taking place in the 1800’s so they won’t have equal martial arts nor tech. It’s being realistic a bit with showing the progression of their capabilities. Djimon Hounsou simply refuses to age! The darker we are the closer we are to “the first people” in our bloodlines. Hell, maybe he’ll get to live 200+ years at this rate. 🤣

I think one of the reasons I liked this movie so much is BECAUSE it wasn't like the other Kingsmen movies. So many franchises find a style that works for them and then never change from it, but this one at least experimented with a different kind of movie while still having elements of its predecessors. For example: The MCU found their style, being witty jokes filled with epic action and fantasy, but then they've never really tried anything seriously different (besides maybe the 2nd Dr.Strange). They've stuck to the same format for every movie since Phase 2, and it's started to become stale enough that I just don't enjoy their movies anymore (though I am pretty hyped for the Kang Dynasty saga, especially after watching the new ant-man).

Even though this movie is fiction, Archduke Ferdinad's death is historically accurate. The archduke just happen to pass by a cafe where his assassain happened to be at and he took advantage. I legitimately loved this movie. Matthew Vaughn has to be in my most underrated directors list with First Class and now these Kingsman movies have been so much fun to watch. I love history too and i love how much fun this was by using real historical figures like the Royal families and nearly every member of the Shephards Flock being a real person. Also come on,that Hitler Stinger had me rolling. The night time trench fight in this movie was awesome as well,but the Standout was the Rasputin boss fight with that Music. I love the eccentric Villians and his awesome secret Lair like they used to have the classic more Ridiculous James Bond Films.

Rasputin was the target of many assassination attempts. One (i believe a shooting) resulted in a significant portion of his stomach being surgically removed. And that later helped him survive stabbings (as they missed his now smaller stomach) and certain poisonings (there wasn't enough stomach acid to create a lethal reaction to the poison).

So for those who don't know, Grigori Rasputin famously gained the Tsars trust and gave him horrible military advice because why would a monk know Jack about war strategy. Russia kept losing millions and millions of soldiers because the Tsar kept listening to Rasputin. This is what eventually led to the Russian Revolution that overthrew the royal family where they were all massacred. And Rasputin famously survived Assasination where he was poisoned but the poison would not kill him so they tried shooting him.

For years fans had joked about how if mcu fans ever saw a movie about world war 1, they would be complaining about how there was no post credits scene teasing Hitler and world war 2...... And Matthew vaughnn actually did it with full sincerity lmao, I don't know how to feel about it. Like it completely took me out of the movie and was all I thought of, despite it havinf amazing performances and pretty cool fight scenes.

I would say though, I feel Orlando was, in a way, responsible for the death of his son. If he wasn't so protective of his son and ensured his son's service was in England, his son wouldn't have had to impersonate Archie, which was what led to his death. Which is funny, because his Orlando's excessive need to protect son was what led to his death in the end

U guys were expecting this movie to be similar to the first two that's why u guys gave lower scores.. After I saw the casts, I knew it would be a different vibe from the first two, so I didn't have any expectations when watching the movie.. I might consider this one a little better than the first kingsman movie

I actually love this movie MORE than the other two which were just silly fun. As opposed to this which was serious fun. Conrad’s death was brutal though which one would expect to have created lasting effects in the creation of the Kingsmen.

I enjoyed this one a bit more than Golden Circle, but I'll season that with some questions on the tone of this movie. The tonal shift from what was happening early in the movie to the complete spiral into darkness with the trench warfare scene is just wild. And I don't think i've been as startled in a character outcome than what happens with the son. That was flat out insane. The first movie for me is still clearly the best.
