At first, I thought the "cousins" part of the leaders of Britain, Germany, and Russia was an exaggeration. It's not. They are all first cousins. Wilhelm's mother and George's father are siblings. George's mother and Nicholas's mother are siblings.

I love history. Much of my time is occupied with learning as much as I can. When I first saw this movie I laughed at the “cousins” bit because I thought it was a clever bit of fiction. On a hunch I started looking into it and was legitimately surprised to find it true. It really makes you think about history and how much one really understands and how much has been twisted by those in the background pulling strings.

Best summary of how WW1 started is to me, found in Black Adder Goes Forth... Captain Blackadder : You see, Baldrick, in order to prevent war in Europe, two superblocs developed: us, the French and the Russians on one side, and the Germans and Austro-Hungary on the other. The idea was to have two vast opposing armies, each acting as the other's deterrent. That way there could never be a war. Private Baldrick : But, this is a sort of a war, isn't it, sir? Captain Blackadder : Yes, that's right. You see, there was a tiny flaw in the plan. Private Baldrick : What was that, sir? Captain Blackadder : It was bollocks.

My fave thing about Rasputin is that if you have to be known and remembered through history, might as well be known as an important sex wizard. 😂😂😂😂 I LOVED this movie. The switch up and death of the son after setting him up to be the Kingsman/Lancelot etc was sooo good and unexpected. Also the Nanny gets me every time. Yeah the world leaders in Europe were pretty much part of an Alabamaian family treee: one trunk no branches.

8:45 - FRANZ FERDINAND'S ASSASSINATION. World War 1 was sparked when Duke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by gunfire shortly after an attempt to blow up his vehicle motorcade had failed. Having lost his opportunity, the assassin escaped the scene and later found himself at a cafe when, by sheer coincidence, the Duke's vehicle drove past that same cafe. And the rest IS... history. *The scenes in the movie depicting this event are accurate.

According to stories Rasputin really was that hard to kill. Supposedly he was poisoned, stabbed, and drowned, yet came back. A riveting performance by Rhys Ifans. Didn't recognize him until I read the credits. They skipped a few historical details. There hadn't been a full scale war in Europe since Napoleon, and military leaders hadn't learned the lessons of automatic weapons, indirect fire artillery, and effectiveness of reservists. The American Civil War, which bore many historical lessons worth learning, was mostly dismissed as a common brawl. The Russian Empire was knocked out, but mainly because its leaders were incompetent noblemen. Also, there were _two_ Russian revolutions; the first overthrew the Tsars, and set up a democratic government. The Communists quickly subverted & overthrew that government. It is true that the Germans gave Lenin his own train back to Russia in the hope of removing Russia from the war.

This one was actually my favorite of the 3 Kingsmen movies, particularly because it leaned a bit more on the dramatic side. I was quite surprised when I looked up reviews after watching and lots of folks didn't like it, perhaps because it was not as they expected as the tone is so different from the other two movies. I wouldn't mind a prequel follow-up with much of the same cast set before WW2. Then they could complete the prequel trilogy with one set during the Cold War featuring younger actors playing the parts of some of the older actors from the first Kingsmen movie.

Queen Victoria married of daughters to many of europe's royals, so all three were indeed family, Wilhelm was jealous of the British Fleet. Also the next generation Prince Philip of Greece and later Queen Elizabeth got married despite being first cousins, both grand children of Victoria and Albert. Albert's health problems was passed on as well leading to some of Rasputin's power over the Tsar. As both a mystic healer and priest he treated the children. His real death includes poison that should have killed three men being shot and finally he drowned.

A lot of what I remember about WW1 is from that video, including how it was basically a family dispute. I think it's called "The cause of WW1." One thing I find crazy is how Duke Ferdinand survived multiple assassination attempts and he only died because the first guy who tried to kill him stayed at the restaurant for a sandwich. His car doubled back that road and the assassin took the shot.

I really like this movie as a depiction of WWI, I think they did the Kaiser a little dirty portraying him as the warmonger little shit, Wilhelm wasn't a good leader but he wasn't the driving force for war. I think the best fight was the trench raid. The western front got very medieval with soldiers using maces, axes, and improvised armor.

The first thing I always think of when seeing or hearing the name Rasputin is that disco song Rasputin (A couple samples: "Ra Ra Rasputeen lover of the Russian queen. There was a cat that really was gone. Ra Ra Rasputeen Russia's greatest love machine. It was a shame how he carried on." and "Ra Ra Rasputeen lover of the Russian queen. They put some poison into his wine. Ra Ra Rasputeen Russia's greatest love machine. He drank it all and said 'I feel fine.'") Haven't read up on much actual history around him so outside of that song I mostly only know of him from this movie and more recently from watching the show The Great. The portrayal in The King's Man makes him a lot more of a warrior than The Great does. The Great has him as a morally bankrupt head of the Russian church. He can get manipulative when trying to push his own agenda but it has him as the kind of man that doesn't get his own hands dirty. The King's Man plays up his sexual side a lot more than The Great does as well. He has his vices in The Great but he tries to be pious and reject his base impulses. Never saw Anastasia so I can't compare his portrayal there to the others.

The First World War started in August 1914. It would last for more than four years, and kill about nine million people in uniform. In the same time period the war and other violent conflicts would kill an estimated twenty million civilians. The world would never be the same. Tensions in Europe The major powers in Europe had been preparing for war for years. The situation was so tense before the war that many called Europe a powder keg waiting to explode. Key factors in the build-up to war included: Arms races to build bigger and more powerful armies and navies; Growing disputes over trade and land; Dissatisfaction with the balance of power in Europe; Resentment from the legacy of past grievances. Alliances and Treaties Divided Europe Complicated military alliances and treaties between the European powers divided much of Europe. The consequence of these alliances and treaties meant that if one country or power bloc went to war, the others would likely go to war too. The two opposing sides in Europe were: The Central Powers: Germany Austria-Hungary The Ottoman Empire (Turkey) The Triple Entente or Allies: France Russia Great Britain Italy, initially allied to the Central Powers, refused to be drawn into what it viewed as their war of aggression. In May 1915, Italy joined the Entente hoping to acquire territory from Austria-Hungary and new colonial possessions, mainly in Africa. Smaller European powers picked sides during the war, dominions and colonies contributed soldiers to their mother countries, and powerful non-European powers such as Japan and the United States would later enter the war on the Allied side. I'm not a movie reviewer however it does take alot for me to not like a movie. I loved the action and fight scenes just like the previous two movies though. I loved your reaction guys.

This isn't a 'bad' film. It just doesn't really measure up to the first two.

Imo the movie went downhill the moment Rasputin died. Not sure what happened with this one but I personally think it missed the mark and just feels off.

The infamous septum mustache was due to WWI. Despite the horrible, exciting moments, trench warfare also featured soul-crushing boredom. So much so that some soldiers grew facial hair as a sort of hobby, as elaborate as they could manage. Then came poison gas and gas masks. Facial hair broke the seal, so they pared down the facial hair to something which wouldn’t get in the way of the mask, those who didn’t just give up.

The final scene is wrong with hitler, he already had the tiny moustache by that point in history. At the biginning of WW1 german soldiers prided themselves on their staches, but gas started to be used they soon realized the stache didn't fit inside the mask so many shaved off the stache hilter decided to shaved off enough to make it fit inside. After the war he kept it as a reminder that he served

He was also f'ing nuts. So it would be unlikely for him to be obeying orders at the time. Unless it's meant to be like joker from dark Knight, if he actually was crazy or a ruze for a planned outcome.

@@nightwingjosh8491 the only order german high command gave was for the men to be sure the mask fit snuggly to their face.

The sequel sucked. The prequel isn't bad.

another reaction video that I've watched and give a thumbs up. also, if you haven't seen it yet, may I suggest the Artifice Girl. for those going through the comments, I've got good news. God is good because He gives His blessings to everyone, whether they be good or bad. but everyone has at least, told a lie, or stolen something in their life. and that makes them sinners, and God will not allow sinners in heaven; in His presence, because He is holy. so, God has to punish the sinners in hell, because God is severe and just. but God is also love and He made a way for some to be saved from His wrath. here are the steps: 1. admit that you're a sinner and are lost. 2. realize that the penalty of sin is death (hell). 3. believe that Jesus (who is God) died on the cross, was buried, then rose from the grave, to pay the penalty for man's past, present, and future sins. 4. trust Christ alone as your Savior, and not on your own good deeds to get you to heaven (nor a combination of your faith and self-righteous works). 5. pray to God NOW that you're accepting Christ's free gift of salvation because if you die before making this decision, it's too late, and you'll 🔥🥵😈 6. and to be a disciple, tell people about Jesus, read the KJV bible, go to a bible believing church, regularly to know God's will for your life.

kind of a bad movie imo. It pokes a lot at the politics of the time which can be funny, but over all I found just the whole thing dull and uninteresting.
