as well as the death of Herbert Kitchener, while in the movie it was seen as a U-boat piloted by The Shepard, IRL he died to a sea mine on a bad sea trip to Russia. World War 1 was a family war. The amount of alliances made between the European Royal families with basically cousins and third cousins was insane. As a Dane I've always been fascinated by it as the Danish King Christian the 9th was called Europe's father in law. His two eldest daughters were married off to England and Russia, becoming Queen and Zarina of the two largest empires, and who ultimately gave birth to George and Nikolai.

As most say here: Conrad's death was a real shocker. They're Oxford's, not rogues. The real Mata Hari was sentenced as a spy but she maintained innocence. The actor who played the big lad at the elevator is Dutch. And of course: Manners maketh man. So many callbacks and shoutouts to the earlier films (or is it future films?).

Honestly looking back on it, it’s the most unbelievable part of the movie. The odds of a soldier being _that_ trigger happy when they’d likely be sentenced to death for their rashness…
@PyroOfZen
@PyroOfZen Год назад
@@mr.stuffdoer8483 Nah, that's bullshit. It's easy to cry "But the soldier was wrong" because we already knew he was wrong, but as far as that soldier was concerned, a German soldier had killed his friend, taken his uniform, and was trying to fall into their ranks. That is far from the craziest thing spies pulled throughout the war. Then when you consider the aggression and fear soldiers were constantly having to process, or subsequent numbness, not to mention the adrenaline dump from the firefight they'd just had not even a minute prior, it's no wonder he didn't hesitate to shoot. Should he have held off until more information was revealed? Definitely. Was it right that he took a shot on what was effectively just a hunch? Absolutely not. None of that makes it unbelievable. Oh, and unless everyone present hated his guts before this exchange, it's likely he wasn't sentenced to death for his rashness. The other soldiers were all there and saw all the same things, and were likely just as suspicious. A lot of wrongdoings were swept under the rug. Even after determining that Conrad wasn't a spy, it's easy for everyone there to claim he was struck by a German bullet. That's far from the worst thing they'd have to live with due to the war.

Can't say I was surprised Conrad died. Harry spoiled that in that first movie. But how he died was so shocking. There were so many fakeouts that him dying just when he made it to "safety" was so much more unnerving than him heroically dying on the battlefield. For Aaron to think Archie was Arthur in the first Kingsman, he does realize that's 100 years time difference? Also, didn't notice it the first time in theaters but Hitler was in the film much more than just that credits tease.

I definitely think the post credit scene is sequel baiting, but I don’t think it is setting up another prequel sequel with Hitler and WWII. The important thing is that the Shepherd society survived past the death of Morton, and was carried on by Zemo, doing things behind the scenes, like an anti-Kingsman organisation. I think this film, in part, is setting up that bad group to be the main antagonist in the third modern Kingsman film.

No, it is setting up a sequel to The King's Man. Vaughn said himself that, if greenlit, it would focus on this cast dealing with the intervening years between the World Wars, and how this group sows the seeds for WW2. He did say however, that because of the problem of age, it wouldn't actually get into WW2 itself, as by the time that happens, Orlando, Polly and Shola would all be in their mid-late 70s.

After 24 years Ralph Fiennes got at last the long deserved "Action Hero" title what he failed to earn because of the failures of 'Strange Days' (a f***ing good movie) and 'Avengers' (a not so one though it has its unique vibe - and cool soundtrack) ✊😎

Check out the Hardcore History podcast series on Ww1 to hear an absolutely horrific description of no man’s land during this time. All of the craters were filled with rain water, that had turned acidic and poisonous from the nerve gas and dead bodies floating in them.

This was a great movie. I’m so happy that I made the time to see this movie in the theater. Seeing movies like this with amazing scenes,is so much better on the big screen and it can’t be truly recreated at home for the vast majority of us. I also love supporting the movie industry. If we stop going to the movie theaters we will be complicit in the potential death of amazing movies that will never be made available to us. Have a great day.

Thought this one was a major step down from 1, and a step down from 2. If this didn't have the Kingsman brand/name behind it I don't think anyone would remember it outside of the Rasputin scenes.

These movies just work better when they’re set in the modern day with the ridiculous Bond-esque gadgets. I didn’t care for the setting, characters or plot in this one. Disappointing prequel.

This movie was a blessing for a history nerd like me. The assassination of Franz Ferdinand happened almost exactly as it did. Only difference was Gavrilo Princip had accomplices who were the ones to threw the bomb. Franz Ferdinand went to the hospital to visit the injured soldiers on the other car. Gavrilo, failed in his mission, went for a coffee to clear his mind, and it was there Franz Ferdinand's car took a wrong turn and ended up at the cafe, right in front of Gavrilo. Gavrilo took the chance and shot Franz Ferdinand in the head.

This movie is not a blessing for history nerds at all haha the amount of stuff thats wrong or just plain made up is staggering, in the end its just a film and they were clever with the assasination scene to make the plot slide with a real event but most of the rest is ridiculous, fun thou.
@iquabakaner

I already liked the movie, but your reaction made me view it as more objectively better, as I realised that the acting, the choreography and the set-pieces/action sequences in particular were all really great. And to me, this movie is like an inverse of the first film, particular with Orlando and Conrad, the father-son roles are swapped with the son dying and the father taking his place (in essence), and even many of the scenes such as the no man's land fight, which in terms of narrative placement mirrors the first film because it directly precedes Conrad's sudden death but it is literally the inverse of the church fight, which was extremely bombastic and loud, mainly due to the music, but the fight in this film is literally in dead silence. Great film, easily better than the Golden Circle.

Also archy is played by aaron taylor johnson known from kickass and also play Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Also the huge giant man who fight son top of the elevator is "the Dutch Giant" he had a small role in Blackwidow. Rasputtin is played by the same actor who player the lizard/ Dr curt conners from The amazing spiderman

royal families are all intermarried, primarily because as a royal, you want to marry other royals. So, over a long enough time, the royal houses of Europe all get intermarried -- multiple times! it's kind of a weird social constraint, but it's generally true! (especially from before monarchs had a more limited ceremonial roles, but they live a long time "in office" so to speak, so in early 1900s it was way more true than today.)
