this is EXTREMELY helpful. I’m a physical therapy assistant student & I have a skills check on this exact machine today. Thank you so much for the in depth explanation!!
Dr Proctor! You were my Grad Professor in 2007-2009! Came on here for a new machine that I just bought and was very pleased to see you giving the instruction here. Thanks for a great explanation!
Would using these settings in a portable unit sold in online stores for personal use be appropriate as well when using the Interferential protocol? I am looking for the BEST home use options to avoid an implanted pain pump or spinal cord stimulator surgery being pushed on me after having 6 spinal fusions that have left me with failed back syndrome, and MORE (don't ask). I also have doubts that ANY brand of OTC Interferential devices are of any real therapeutic value but living in horrific pain makes for desperation when seeking relief.
"Opiate" Release Protocol? As in Oxycodone Pills are an "opiate" or am I hearing that wrong? Does that machine have the same effect(s) on the neurotransmitters that opiate pain medications are supposed to have? My pain clinic has never even tried that on me-I guess big-pharma prefers to keep them a secret. Can I get one of those for my home or is that a professional medical office only machine?
I did a check out today and used IFC on lumbar with 25% vector. I passed so it must be okay. lol. Of course our machines are old and may not even be relevant when we get to clinicals in January.
Rachel Lamb thats why you must keep the sweep option on, that way the current forma a circular effect, so it doesnt get concentrate in the same spot, in this case the Spine, or at least thats What i was thaught
Gate control e stim is used more in the inflammatory phase days 1-9 and does not activate muscle fibers therefore is safer to use earlier. Once muscle contraction is tolerated and movement wont worsen condition or cause pain, endorphine (low rate) tens can be used to relieve pain up to 4 hours after the treatment has been removed. Low rate tens causes visible muscle twitching
