👉👉Looking for Ultrasound units? Give Medcor Professionals a call (207-222-2828) This is a great company. Tell them you heard about it on the Ortho Eval Pal RU-vid Channel.
My apologies!!! I mixed up the BNR ratios. You want a LOW BNR not a high one. All new machines are pretty low so you don't need to worry much. Other than that, the rest of this video is accurate. Enjoy!
In this video, Therapeutic Ultrasound-How it works and when to use it, I cover a lot in a short time. I discuss the mechanism of how it works, I review how to make it a more effective modality, when to use it and when not to use it and much more.

I found your video very informative. Having watched many videos on the subject I thought to try a home application to help stimulate blood flow in my 55 year type 1 diabetic feet. I am 2nd year into neuropathy and find balance is being affected. I will speak to my endocrinologist about desire to treat with suggestions. Chosen unit is a US Pro 2nd edition. .08w pulsed on low 10%, .8w pulsed on medium 50% & 1.6w continuous on high @100%. Ratings are per cm squared. Treatment times can be set to 5, 10 & 15 minutes. Unit is a 1mhz frequency.

I'm just a person, no medical training whatsoever. However around 2003, I dislocated my right elbow while mountain biking and after it was reset at a hospital, I was referred to a physical therapist. I didn't know until recently that what she called deep heat, was actually ultrasound. Anyway, I'm very likely to buy one soon, so I want to learn as much about them as possible. Watching you rub that head around near your elbow is almost exactly what she did to me a couple times each week. Also, the gel she was using, she said was cortisone. As you said, and I even mentioned to her; I'm not feeling any heat. But seconds after she would stop, it's like I'd never injured my arm at all. However an hour or so after I'd get home from therapy, the pain was excruciating. Now I'm fairly old, and a lifetime of both, poor habits and beating my body up is showing itself, mostly in the form of arthritis. In 2018, just after moving to our new house here in the Midwest, I slipped on ice in the driveway after getting the mail. I broke my leg, right where the tibia and femur meet behind the knee. I wasn't even offered therapy that time,, but I've proven to be pretty hard-headed and at a certain point,, usually take over my own treatment using what I gleaned from a therapist. Still, I'm trying to get fully back to my old self, and I'm hoping this device can help with my damaged shoulder, my knee, maybe feet, as you mentioned Achilles tendon, etc. So I'm here and anywhere else to learn before I buy one.

Hi, thanks for this. I am going to be using this for self treatment of chronic tightness and soreness of leg muscles post spinal stenosis corrective surgery 3 years ago. May I ask a question? How many areas would it be ok to treat at one time? What distance should I keep between the sites? Would it appropriate to treat the tibialis of one leg and then the other in one session? If I treat sites at different times of the day, how should I pace it?

What about using a 1 mega Hertz ultrasound, set at .08W/cm2 so no increase in heat, to aid in healing bruised bones that are clear of any fractures? I have a bruised fibula malleolus from an ankle inversion injury and it is still slightly swollen, so id like to know if treating that ankle area for 4-5 minutes, with the above setting, would hasten the recuperation window? Excellent presentation. I think you may have the BNR info backward. The lower the BNR the better. At 1 w/cm2 and a BNR of 9:1 means there is a point in the ultrasound field that is getting 9w/cm2...that is where the potential for danger lies. Most manufacturers list the highest allowable BNR, as it is expensive and time consuming the test every single ultrasound crystal individually. So, the BNR written on the transducer is likely higher than the actual BNR.

I think you mention piriformis at 3:45? That was actually one of my questions... You say it only penetrates 4cm, so in areas that have a lot of subcutaneous fat (like the gluteal region), are the muscles even close enough to the surface of the skin to be reachable by the ultrasound waves? Does it depend on how overweight/in shape the person is? I pulled what I believe is my glute max and would like to try ultrasound at home. I'm not excessively overweight, but my butt is slightly chunky, so I'm wondering if ultrasound will work...

I have a clogged milk duct from breastfeeding which won't budge and this is one of the forms of treatmemt for it, but no one does it in my area. Also, the settings are low to high and 5, 10 or 15 mins, any recommendations? I started with med at 5 mins and I moved the head around the area the whole time, but feel some discomfort. Don't know if I pressed hard which I didn't think I did, but the area is sore anyway. Any thoughts? Usually it takes 3 consecutive sessions if you go to get it done.
