You demonstrated why there is a desire to live in Southern California. It is the lifestyle that you basically can be outside comfortable year round. No bugs, no humidity and there is something always interesting nearby. This design is something that is attainable and relatable.

I don't have much of a yard or a patio but this is the first yr, after living here for 5 yrs, that I feel like doing something with the space I do have. Nothing even close to being as beautiful as yours but better than it has been. Tyfs Mary

Your back patio is gorgeous as are all of your designs. That would be hard to move away from. Whoever moves into your home is very lucky indeed. I love how the blue flowers in the pots move your eye towards the blue in the striped patio chairs. I also love the lighting you have incorporated, how fun to sit out in the evenings.

Stunning Job Rebecca.... but then again, we would expect nothing less from a FABULOUS designer. I truly wish I could include before and after pictures of my yard. We have a hillside as well... we dug into the incline to create an elevated 12 x 16 ft patio, created two layers of retaining walls, added all fruit trees and plantings on the slope, added steps to get to the top, created travertine stepping stones that lead to the travertine elevated patio, planted two olive trees in the lawn on either side for balance. A fire table is the focal point for the elevation and we added two additional fire tables on the adjoining patio that is close to the house. Uplighting with solar lights give us a beautiful view during twilight and evening hours.

I love how you start your morning. Starting your day with a little me time before the chaos start is very important. I love everything that you have done.

My husband and I built an outdoor wood patio dining table for 10 people. So we can enjoy a nice meal with grandparents once this is over. 🥰our kids are waiting for it!

This space is beautiful what a peaceful place to social or just enjoy yourself. The solar lights are great. They add so much warmth and make such a cozy atmosphere. I hope wherever you move to you will be able to enjoy the outdoors at least a few months a year. Thank you for sharing.

Hello Rebecca Dawlinka!!! I am really enjoying your backyard. It makes me want to sit, drink some iced tea, and enjoy the view. I am working on my backyard little by little and I also am a “plant in pots and my flowerbeds” type of person. I will be refurbishing a coffee table, repaint my Adirondack chairs along with and old cast iron dining table my mother gave to me before her passing last year. My house is gray so I am adding a little navy blues, mid tone grays, as well as other pops of color. Also we will be building a new fence into the mix. I love sitting in my backyard that overlooks the mountains and hills which make sitting outside relaxing and enjoyable just in time for my figs tree to sprout it’s fruit. Rebecca you made me a fan of youtube! I couldnt stop watching your videos! You talent leaves me speechless! I have watched the Denver Loft 10 times and sent it to others to insist they watch it too! I stage homes for my clients when I list their home. It really helps. During that process I fell in love with interior design like your lady in Texas (or was it another state?) She remembered everything you taught. I fully intend to take your classes online but need a little lull first. You totally ROCK!!

This is the second backyard video of yours I’ve watched. In the last 3 months I’ve probably watched about 100 backyard videos and I just get excited when I see yours. Every foot has something to offer (beauty, comfort and excitement). My wife and I just did your backyard after 27 years in our home. It started with a white vinyl fence all around. We rebuilt the deck and added a lower level. Purchased furniture, flowers, pillows, lighting... I wish you could see it and give us some tips to take it to the next level. My husband and I bought an older home. We decided to retexture and paint it ourselves. We’ve been doing room by room. We texture, paint, then furnish. It’s so much fun! It’s taking us a while because we’re paying for everything in cash, but we think in the end it’s gonna be worth all the hard work!!

Beautiful! I need more lighting in my yard... it makes such a difference. This shelter-in-place gave me the opportunity to expand my vegetable garden. I removed some sod and added raised garden beds and set up a watering system for them. Yay! Nothing like an outdoor project to keep you busy!!

I must say you have a beautiful backyard area. Ready for guests, family and friends. I have managed to take an old patio bench and varnish it. Even applied spar-urethane on it to protect from the Arizona heat. New pillows and voila, looking nice on my porch area.

Your outdoor space is absolutely beautiful with tranquillity! A little piece of spring has arrived in the western North Carolina mountains! We had “ Tomato Day” at our local bank last week where they give away tomato plants to their customers (Minus the BBQ lunch this year due to the pandemic)to show their appreciation. I’ve planted “Better Boy” tomatoes on our bank and some in pots!

Rebecca, your backyard looks amazing! It's so cheery and inviting. That sage green palm tree is too die for. I'm so envious of everyone's time off and all the organization, decluttering, and checking off off their to-do list. My husband and I have remained open and extremely busy with our business (a blessing for sure) since we started a huge backyard project! Here in the Carolina's we have been getting so much rain, which is slowing down any progress in the backyard makeover. Hopefully there will be some summer left when it's all complete. What is more important than to feel more safe in our own home right!! The backyard makeover is beautiful and i have always loved your backyard as they contains greenery and other colourful natural creations (i mean those beautiful flowers). However in the end you asked for our fun and frustrating moments when doing our projects at home...so here we go!! Fun moments: i really had fun as we were all working together for my kitchen, laundry space, exterior doorway and the prayer room which is now separated from the house (the thing is that our culture which is Hinduism promotes vegetarianism, which we are not, so we had to do that out of respect). We had different ideas coming together and here is where the frustrating part starts (i don't know if you believe in zodiac signs but i do and my father and i we both are Taureans...so i hope you already got a glimpse of what is coming up). Frustrating moments: we wanted to create a design on the exterior doorway and we had different design but as i am the last member of the family, my ideas are always...what should i say...my ideas sucks (you know how older siblings can be sometimes right?). So i kept quiet and watched the show. My father did some rockwork which is very impressive but the thing is that the difference in our ideas was that his was common while mine was unique which you will not get to see in my country. I took my design from an indian ruin (ohh...how much i love ruins and old things..not only India but Greece, Egypt...you name it!!) which was difficult but not like his idea is and one day before the realisation of the idea, my father came to ask me about my idea and i refuses to give it to him (as i was angry...or should i say frustrated) and i waited for the result. The end result was beautiful but it it took more time and effort than mine would have. They ended up regretting it and i i made the walk of pride (by the way that was a fun moment). But the design is still very beautiful and my father did a great job. So i hope you got your answer and i am so sorry for writing an entire essay.

I love the concept of outdoor rooms. I've been slowly creating that idea over time in our back yard. This is lovely inspiration.

What a peaceful retreat to go to! We are finishing our kitchen. Just need one spot in the kitchen for flooring and one section of cabinets to be painted. Then our kitchen will be mostly done. We have bathrooms that need flooring and paint (have the paint, just not the flooring) then the master bedroom needs painted (have that waiting) and one of the kid's bedrooms, too. I'd also like to paint the front door.😆
