Hello Doctors! Thank you soo much for putting in very concise and apt information for us IMGs❤ I also had a question- Can we give plab 1 at the time of internship, presenting final year pass result as proof? Because in setups like India we dont actually graduate till end of internship and the only option that remains is to take 1 year off to prepare for exams and visa.
My question: is it necessary to specialise further after internal medicine? Can we work as a hospitalist as an internal medicine specialist like in USA? Please reply
Hi. Thank you so much for the video. I have a doubt. Can we include research we did while we were in medical univeristy for imt application scoring ? and also posters/conference presentations ? Or does everything have to be after you graduate from medschool?
Assalamualaikum apu.. First of all thank you so much for making us believe in ourselves through the journey of road to uk. I'm very much anxious after seeing the recent events about getting a slot for plab 1. As i couldn't complete my OET yet, would u you please make an assumption about when GMC will announce the next slot for plab 1 for later half of the year.. I know its kind of impossible to assume such things..but if u give any idea / suggestion that will be a great help..
At what level can you apply for Internal medicine training if you have completed MRCP, have 2 year experience in your home country, and currently undertaking the FY2 Training? Kindly advice. And as always, thank you for the wonderful video.
When u finish medical school. U go 2 foundation year 1 and 2 which is the same as internship. Then u can go 2 internal medicine training U start earning from foundation year 1. Then your salary increases in foundation year 2 then it also increases in your internal medicine training. Yes u will be in training and that doesn't exactly mean u are only studying because your training will be based in hospitals. So u will be paid well I suppose.
Very credible information..and not near to even being boring..one query : I am stuck to decide btw mrcs and mrcp only due to confusion that they say getting training in cardiology in Uk is almost impossible ..the day I come to know there is some chance of it, I will choose to do mrcp at the very day..so plss, no one better than you guys can guide me if there is chance of getting cardioogy training out there ..would be grateful 🙏
There is more than enough chance. You will be judged on your application and interview and nothing more. Our hospital has mainly IMG cardiology consultants.
@@RoadToUK i am sorry i should have been more clearer. i was asking how easier will it get to get into cst since fmg will be on par with non British eu people. or will it still continue to remain difficult to get into surgery like it is now.
I graduated in the year 2018, did my housejob in 2019, passed my fcps exam part 1 in 2020 and started training. I took 9 months training and due to some reasons i left it. Right now i am not working in any hospital. Can i work in UK? Do they ask about what did u do in that time? Is that a problem that i have gap from work?
Hello Ibrahim & Ibreez, Would it be more difficult to get into a group 1 subspecialty after a 3-year IM training in your home country? Or to ask this same question differently- would my home country's 3 year internal medicine training make things easier or more difficult if i desire to undertake group 1 subspecialties in the UK? (Taking into consideration that it may not comprehensively include geriatrics & critical care that is required for subspecialty training into group 1 subspecialties)? Would be grateful also if you expound on this in a new video
Depends on your competencies and what you've accomplished in that time. Please see: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-J0L3WVm_wJA.htmlsi=iYjeWtXik5xCkDkp
Thank you for the video, please correct me if i got it wrong, so if i finish 3 years of core training for IMT but dont want to continue with specialty training, will i have a cct for general practice or pcp ( family medicine ) ? You mentioned that one can take a break before specialty training, what can they do and what will their title be meanwhile ?
Hi. I have a question. I have done MRCEM Primary. And I plan on completing MRCEM before getting GMC Reg. I would like to know if there’s a pathway that would accept MRCEM instead of MRCP after I try getting into IMT or ACCS AM?
I've come across one of the foreign medical grauduate, a youtuber of india who did his mbbs from russia or ukraine , am nut sure. He did mrcp 1 right after mbbs without even an internship. He said that for mrcp 1 u just need to have a degree,. And for mrcp 2, 12 months of practice, and 18 months of practice for mrcp 3 after clearing mrcp 2. Is that correct? Now am planning for mrcp after my graduation instead of plab, as this will save my time. And also if i wont get a pg seat in india. I will continue to practice to meet the required month of practice for mrcp.
The official MRCP website clearly states that in order to appear in Part 1, you must have one year of experience post graduation. The rest of the exams don't have hard and fast stipulations, rather just suggested experience before attempting.
How safe and sensible is it to go to the MMed masters in medicine for 2yrs in buckingham is it IMT or CCT or ...plZ enlighten ...also how safe is it to approch the educational consultancies and agents who promise to get us into the GMC sponsorship programmes .. what would you recommend.?
What's the benefit of doing the IMT in England compared to wales or Scotland? Was your decision something which is personal? Or anything academic and career related?
Hi mam...I am in the idea of taking PLAB exams...I finished my residency in India...I need one info mam..I only have a single mom...I would like to take her with me after PLAB 2...kindly suggest how should i proceed..Elderly dependent visa possible? Is it possible to take her with within a year after plab 2?
one thing i dont get is: who are you interviewing with? i always thought doctors do interviews with some kind of basic hospital. but as i understand, we actually make interview in order to work in whole deanery, not a specific hospital right? and in those deanery do we try to prefer basic hospital or our rotations or something like that?
For training posts there is a panel you interview with that will assess you. Based on this assessment along with your application, you are awarded points. These points are then used to rank your score against those of others, and you then choose your preference of hospitals from a list. Your preference is then weighed against your score and the score of others to determine where you are selected.
Hello doc !….internal medicine training in uk which is of three years after completing this training will they give me (CCT) certificate of completion of training OR first I will have to complete specialist training to be eligible for this CCT certificate…..??
Thank you so much for making ishc detailed and helpful videos. I have a question. Is there any exam we need to give in order to get into internal medicine training in the UK? What is that exam called?
I'm talking specifically about London here. I've heard that as a Junior Doctor, you have to change hospitals every 6 months or so and it can be in different locations. So, for those junior doctors, who have a family, do they change rented houses every year based on the hospitals location or is it possible to stay at the same house throughout your training?
It is dependent on the program and deanery, and even if there is some amount of rotation, most doctors find a middle ground to live in as it is never from one end of the country to the other.
Hello sir..thanks for this video.i have a question. I passed mrcp part 1 and looking forward to complete mrcp.after passing mrcp do i need more experience to apply for non training job or mrcp alone will be enough to apply? Thank you.
Another very useful video, thanks. Can you please tell me, after completing FY2 do we have to sit for MRCP exams to be able to enter any core training programs or some of them, if so which ones ? For instance, I want to do internal medicine core training like you or pediatrics. Can you please explain, thanks in advance.
does an IMG have to do a non training job for 1 year in order to get into IMT or is there any other alternate route to get into IMT? thank you for the all the information you guys share with us and help us keep up the good work
After I take OET/IELTS do I have to finish both PLAB 1 & 2 in two years, that is within the validity of IELTS/OET ? or Is the validity only for registering with GMC, and we can have more leeway with booking exam dates ?
Hi there!! I'm also interested in internal medicine training in the UK. I have a question, after internal medicine training can we take a few months break (3-4months) before joining our desired speciality/fellowship (like cardiology, hematology, neurology) or is it that only British citizens can take a break of a few months after internal medicine training?
Yes you can, but that break would have to be in some form of employment if you want to stay in the UK. The only way around that would be if you have indefinite leave to remain (ILR). You can obtain that after 5 years in the UK.
Hello Sir and ma'am, I wanted to ask whether it is possible to shift between run through and uncoupled training? For example, if one starts with OBGYN, is it possible to shift to IMT without loosing the level or years?
www.rcplondon.ac.uk/fellowship All the related information is there. It's an accolade, not an exam based title like MRCP is. I think the fastest way will be to get nominated by a fellow.
thank you so much for this video ! I have one question , I have completed MRCGP South-Asia as well as MCPS in the subject of Family medicine . I am 50 now practicing in Pakistan and I want to peruse my career in the UK Does Ageism exist in that setup in terms of getting a training ?
You're welcome! You won't get any sort of degree or certificate, but successful completion would allow you to then apply for specialty training in the UK.
@@mirrorimage3606 no. There is no Internal Medicine Specialist in the UK. You have to join further higher specialty training in any specific medical specialty in which you can get dual accreditation on general medicine and that specialty as well. The closest to general medicine is acute medicine which is also 4 years after completing 3 years of IMT.
@@RoadToUK Thank you for your response. I completely had the wrong idea and thought I could finish IMT and be done with training and be a specialist. What happens if I just don’t choose to pursue further specialty training? What would the disadvantages of that be? What would my ‘rank’ be, (What would I be considered overseas?) Is there anything I can do instead of further specialty training? Is there any medical specialty that would take less than four years? Sorry for all the questions, if there is anything you know about this particular situation I’d be grateful if you could let me know
Now am studying in RILA Medicine institute Plymouth university (Dermatology )blended learning , on line topics with expert tutors with workshops each month in Dubai ، ((is this certificate after finishing accredited and recognized in the uk for working ??🧐))
Hello, could you please tell me about Internal Medicine stage 1 training for Group 1 specialities vs Group 2 specialities? the JRCPTB website shows that Group 2 specialities require only 2 years of IM stage 1 training whereas Group 1 specialities require 3 years. It would be wonderful if you could tell me how one applies for the 2 years IM stage 1 training vs the 3 years? thank you :)
Thank you guys for the info 😀 I am currently pursuing MD General Medicine in India...I wanna move to UK after my postgraduate completion by undertaking plab/ukmla exams and getting gmc registration...Can i skip imt by getting alternate core competency form getting signed and pursue the specialty training or is mrcp necessary to get my alternate core competency form to get signed...Thanks in advance guys☺️
While applying for a non training job what are the criterias we have to take into consideration to get our CREST forms signed by a consultant in the hospital we work in if we want to enter a training pathway?
What about ST3/ST4 Would both partners choosing a competitive specialty like cardiology, gastro etc be possible? Or would one of em need to choose a less competitive one like AIM so they could end up in the same place.
The rules are still the same. Choose the same hospitals or hospitals nearby each other when you choose your preferences. If there are less seats in an area for one specialty versus another, the person applying for the least competitive of the two would be more assured a spot versus the one applying for the more competitive one.
Assalau alaikum. BhaiYa.,.. how are you. Please convey my regards to her . I came in UK for month. Any clinical attachment for this period. I have been continuing practicing medicine and cardio in king abdullah hospital KSA for 25 years. With best regards. Dr.Mohammad Chittagong BD
Hello guys. I am applying for IMT round 1 and have been kept in shortlist reserve at the moment as i score poorly. Is there any chance i can get an interview invite or should i just start focusing on round 2. I am very disappointed with myself. Please help. Thank you
Assalamu Alaikum. I am a regular student but I got supple in my 1st and 2nd professional examination. Now I am a 4th year student. Does it affect my future degrees or plab, amc or other licensing examination??
@@RoadToUK No im newly graduated : ) trying to decide the best suitable country for me to specialize in Internal medicine, Trying to get some honest oponions from people who have done internal medicine in the UK since the work load can differ alot between specialties. Thank you
Parents currently are restricted to visit visas. After you obtain British citizenship, you may be able to lobby to bring them, but it is not a guarantee.
