Thank you Kenny. I'm getting ready to overhaul an H4 mag on a friend's 1948 McCormick Deering . Your tutorial was very helpful. I also watched Rudy's video on installing and timing.
Nice work on the magneto! For all your magneto and carburetor needs, just call Rudy and Kenny! Thanks for sharing the process, I can tell you enjoy working on these and you take pride in your work. 🇺🇸🚜👍
Thanks, Hyatt! It's fun working on these little guys. It's also good to absorb the knowledge (that's the most important part - the KNOWLEDGE)! Well, that and that Rudy keeps money flowing to keep the shop running and food on his table!
I liked the video especially the part putting it together. One request instead of high speed on the tear down, do it at normal speed and explain what to lookout for on tear down and etc. thanks for doing this video! 👍
What an excellent video! Yeah, I like this. I just learned a lot. Thank you! That magneto is better than new. I like the apparatus for recharging the magnet.
Thank you, Bryan! These magnetos are very simple, and very reliable. But, you definitely need special tools to do them right, and special tools to deal with special issues!
Turn it up!! I'm not sure why that part of the video got so quiet. Strange. I even went and opened it back up in my editing software - and all of the settings were where they should've been.
Rudy does a first class job. He rebuilt my Wico C for my B Deere last summer. Took it on our first event this year today and it was a wet stormy drizzle most of the day. I covered my mag when I left and during the day it got soaking wet but never missed a spark. We got caught in a downpour during the two mile parade and it never missed. Yessir he does a first class job. Yep it was a miserable day but sometimes it is at these events. Hope he is well and you also. Looking forward to more...
Yes, Rudy is the magneto master!! I help him out in the shop when I can. There's actually a good chance I did the Wico C while working in the shop. I do a lot of Wico C's! Glad it's running strong for you!
I'll be saving this video. I have one of these laying in the shop. I know the coil went bad. I've been wanting to restore it 100% just incase I need it.
Glad you like it! If you run into issues - you know how to find me! There are little tiny nuances that can happen. The chances are rare but I have seen it!
Very cool video. It would be great to see a WICO and Fairbanks Morse. I am interested because I have tractors with both of those plus the H4. My Fairbanks Morse on my AC "B" quit working last year and I swapped in a WICO until I get the FM rebuilt. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍
I didn't want to show every step of the process simply because I didn't want to step on the toes of Rudy's business (the man I work in the shop for). I'm sure you'll understand that. I am more than willing to answer ANY questions you may have, though!
This makes me very angry. Sent my Mag to a veteran owned company for a mountain of money and got nothing like this. Your job was exponentially better in quality, parts and functionality. So wish I had known about this place sooner. Great video Kenny! Love it!
I'm sorry you had that happen. It really stinks to pay for quality work and get back something you were not happy with. The good news is, you know about Rudy's shop now.. And we're always willing to help! Glad you enjoyed
Restoring a 1941 H myself right now. I was working on my magneto rebuild. The oil seal retainer washers were damaged by corrosion, and need to be replaced. I came across your video here and was hoping you’d have part numbers. I can find the leather seal, but not the inner and outer retainer washers. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Squatch Sr over at Squatch253's channel has been restoring a couple of old mag testers with degree wheels and he doesn't have any info on it and isn't completely sure how it works. Maybe you could reach out to him if you know of anyone who may be helpful?
