Gosh, I cannot express how pleasing, and refreshing it is to see real men, with real work ethics, working with some of the best built, toughest equipment made, even by today`s standards. Doing a job that if done today, would take four times as long or even longer due to less than perfect working conditions, heat, insects, no work ethic, oppressive regulations, extreme cost, and poorer quality of men, weaker, sicker, no stamina, no determination, very low tolerance to anything uncomfortable. I remember those days even though I was just a kid and remember enough to know thing have really gone downhill since then. Today, I am as old as dirt, and almost as smart as a box of rocks but one thing I do know is men back in the thirties, forties, and fifties, were the greatest generation, at least in my eyes.

Absolutely enjoying your posts. Australia in the Have A Go development era. Wish we could see that attitude return. Cheers Adrian

Love these old videos where it was about “getting it done”! Those IH dozers and other equipment must have been quite the machines in their day. Keep up the good videos!

This kind of things still happen in South East Asia and Amazon forests today

Probably couldn't do this today back then they needed access i guess and this was the only way to do it .

And our good friends, the tiddly winks, are doing exactly the same today only at a ten times faster rate. The only plus is that the resulting floods and droughts will do in millions of them.

I’m sure it has. Not too long ago I saw an interview with a young farmer from Australia with thousands of acres

I’m sure all of the people that eat what these farms produce believe it’s worth it. Do you eat?

@@JRBUISEXCAVATING Of course but mostly locally produced animals and crops . My area was settled in the 1870s , about the opposite effect on the terrain they planted tens of thousands of trees and continue to. they didn't flatten the hills , in most cases they are still as they were . Over all I d say there is more wildlife now then before. You can look up the man planted forest in Nebraska

You kill a tree that took decades to grow when you clear land that you use for your home or farming. That tree produces beneficial weather patterns that favor humans, produces oxygen for humans, animals, and other species. Clearcutting should be banned, even when you clear some land for a home.

Clearcutting in itself is not entirely a bad thing. There are benefits to the practice. In forestry the practice is used to increase biodiversity, among other things. The problem lies with those who will clear land and then leave the lot vacant.
