To cap off Formula 3000 Series Friday, we save the best for last with a flashback to the 2000 season's championship decider at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. It was a showdown between Brazil and France, Petrobras Junior and D2 Playlife Super Nova, Bruno Junqueira versus Nicolas Minassian. Junqueira, coming off a crucial win in Budapest, knew a top-three finish would clinch the title. However, if he finished fourth or lower, Minassian was poised to snatch the crown, but only with a victory. Meanwhile, a potential upset loomed with Astromega and a rising rookie, Fernando Alonso, who had shown steady improvement all season. Dave Beckett and Simon Taylor are set to guide you through this thrilling finale.

What an incredible drive from Alonso. Pole position, fastest lap, leading every single lap, and winning the race. The only Grand Chelem in this season F3000. Sadly also the only time when he won in Spa-Francorchamps in a single seater. Hope he could win it with Alpine soon.

Doesn't get any better than that in fact it was a Team Astromega masterclass with Marc Goosens backing him up as Sam Boyle said pre race spa was a happy hunting ground for Astromega with the much missed Gonzalo Rodriguez finishing 1st and 2nd on his 2 visits there before his tragic death

Chip Ganassi picked both Junqueira & MInassian for the 2001 CART season but it wasn't quite a Montoya-like home run. Junqueira got it together with Newman Haas later on but Minassian was booted after a few races and never got another chance in single seaters.

Actually he did. He raced for Brand Motorsport in the 2003 Formula 3000 championship. I doubt he’s too bothered about not getting back into single seaters after that though, he had a good career in sportscar racing, racing for the factory Peugeot team in the FIA WEC and Le Mans.
