Packing cubes are absolutely the only way we pack you should give them ago especially if you travel a lot & roll your clothes as this also helps with reducing wrinkles. Another tip if you don’t want to use packing cubes put your underwear & socks in the bottom of ur bag to fill in around the handle areas the it flat to put clothes on top. Happy travels ✈️
So glad to see another Away packing video! Especially in the Bigger Carry-On! I'm going on a 10-day trip to Hawaii so the video gave me a good idea how much could fit for 10 days.
Instead of using Target bags for shoes, I prefer the clear fruit & veggie bags (if clean). It allows you to see what is in them and it takes up less space.
I think my comment on asking you to compare the large carry-on and the normal carry-on bag, would fit here on this video :) I would love it if you would compare the two, and of the two which on you recommend! Love you!
Yes! I actually have a half way edited version of that video right now! I wasn’t totally pleased with all the footage I got, so I’m trying to figure out how to improve it before posting!
Which Airline did you take for your trip to Italy? I want to buy the larger Carry-on but I am nervous that they will make me check it? Were you able to actually carry it on and onto the over head compartment?
We flew United, and it was no problem at all! I’ve also flown Delta and Southwest with the same suitcase, and I’ve never had any issues. You should be good domestically, but you would likely have to check if you fly smaller planes in other countries.
Were you able to bring back souvenirs from Italy ? I’m going away for ten days as well but I want space to be able to bring stuff back with me so I was going back and forth with the bigger carry on or the medium carry on which one you recommend?!
The medium size isn’t a carry on, so if you’re looking for a carry on size the largest you could go is the bigger carry on style. I didn’t bring back much from Italy (a bag, water bottle, and a few other little things), and I didn’t have a lot of excess space. If you do want to pick up a good number of souvenirs I would recommend getting the Medium and checking it!
I am impressed! But I have to ask how much did that all weigh. I have to weight mine it’s way too easy to go over the limits. Another suggestion that has worked well for me are the space bags. I get a little uncomfortable think there might be bugs so the bags are also nice in that way. I really like the dirty close bag idea too. I just used a trash bag because it doesn’t take up much space. Have a great adventure!
I honestly didn’t weigh the bag, so I’m not entirely sure. I was able to manage it by myself, lifting it and taking it out of overhead compartments, with no problems. It couldn’t have been more than 20 pounds or so! The dirty clothes bag included with AWAY bags is a huge help, I agree!
That suitcase looks to big for carry on, What are it's dimensions? Also, Aren't there some liquids in your toiletry bag that aren't in a see-through 1 qt zip lock?
22 x 14 x 9 are the dimensions for the Bigger Carry On! I have TSA precheck, so I am never asked to remove anything from my bags when going through security.
Honestly just personal preference! But It depends on the trip! The packing cubes that I have are not compression cubes, so they don't really do anything to help save space while packing. They are more of just an organizing method. Because I'm typically able to fit everything I need without cubes, I haven't been in the market for them, but everyone has their travel preferences!!
How did you fold your clothes into those neat little “rolls.” (Not sure if you call them rolls). I am taking a 7 day domestic trip next week and I was wanting to implement your methods. Could you post a folding video? I know that sounds strange but I would love to know how to pack like that with minimum wrinkles.
Oh I wouldn't say that packing method leads to minimum wrinkles! haha But, I used a similar method to the Marie Kondo Method when folding those clothes, and I think there are several videos out there already, if that helps at all!
We didn’t have any issues! On some international airlines they have been known to be too big. Often times, though, international airlines only allow suitcases of a certain weight in the overhead compartments, so you end up having to check the bag regardless if its dimensions. Hope this helps!
Somewhere around the 13.5kg mark! I would have had to check it on that particular Quantas flight due to the weight limit, but it was fine for United which is what I flew for this particular trip!
I have not, but I have flown Lufthansa in the past, and they have some of the biggest model planes for overseas flights. I know their larger series planes would fit the bigger carry-on nicely, if the smaller southwest planes that I frequently fly fit it with no problem!
I promise it did! Many, many times throughout the trip with the moving around that we did. I'm planning another trip now, so maybe we'll have an updated video where I'll be sure to show that little tidbit.
