In spring 2019, I took a three-week trip to Greece. I fit everything I needed for those 21 days inside a regular sized AWAY carry-on suitcase and a personal bag. In this video, I'll show you what I packed for that trip and the way that I packed it in order to get the most out of my carry-on space. Keep in mind this is just what worked for ME, but I share it because it might help you too. :)
I value carry-on only travel because of the convenience it provides-- getting out of the airport quickly/not having to wait at baggage claim, having all my items with me at all times, and the simplicity that comes with only having to travel and move around with a small carry-on, rather than a big (checked) bag.
If you are comfortable re-wearing clothes and/or can buy laundry detergent once you get to your destination, it's easy to pack for any length trip in a carry-on.
FAQS:
HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO TRAVEL WITH SO MANY LIQUIDS?
I didn't think I had so many liquids. I understand that many times you're only allowed to bring as many liquids that can fit into a quart-sized bag; however, I was living in Yangon, Myanmar at the time and thus flying through Yangon International Airport and Athens and had no issues getting through security at either airports with the amount of liquids I packed. Perhaps they're just more lax with the liquids at these airports. All my liquids were under the 3 oz carry-on limit though. If you're concerned about the amount of liquids you can pack and travel with in your carry, you can always buy them (shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, etc.) once you arrive at your destination.

Very helpful! Only one more thing I recommend including: a pair of flip-flops. That way, there's no need to worry about yucky showers and they can be used for slippers, as well.

Haha I'm not sure what the actual ml limit is for carry on travel? But I had no issue bringing all of these toiletries to and from Greece. I do however currently live in Yangon, Myanmar, and flew from Yangon through Singapore to Athens. So maybe the security is more relaxed in Yangon and Singapore, if there is a specific liquid limit.

I think US is especially strict with liquid allowances. I live in Canada and I never had an issue either, as long as each container is less than 100mLs.

@@jennyz1690 some countries in Europe are also very strict with the liquid allowance issue. The ones that come to mind are the UK and Finland, but that's because I live in one and visit the other a few times a year. All of the liquid/gel products need to be in containers under 100ml, and all of your liquids/gels (including liquid makeup) need to fit into one 1 litre sized resealable plastic bag.

I may comment once before, but i love this video you tell how much you bring i dont think not many other videos do, So I am going this try next time, not this trip we might go on road trip to help my dad to Pa so we might have chance to go for a week so i will leave a extra week of clothes for next summer so I usually go to New Jersey shore for one month every summer from Arizona so i am going try your video it one of best ways

Do you also bring a carry on bag? I like using Bento bag where I put my travel documents like passport, gadgets like laptop, camera and phone and chargers. I just like easy access to my things whenever I'm at the airport or plane. Also it fits under the seat. By the way, it's from Nomad Lane.

No, I didn't get stopped. I live in Yangon, Myanmar, flew through Singapore to Athens there and back, and they never stopped me about the liquids. Perhaps they're more relaxed in Asia? Because I personally didn't have any problems with it.

I honestly don't know what the official liquids limit is for carry on travel! But I am currently living in Yangon, Myanmar, and flew from Yangon through Singapore to Athens. So maybe the security isn't as strict in how many "bags" of liquids you could take. Either way, it wasn't an issue for the trip-- going in or out of Greece!

Not all Airlines have carry on weight restrictions. Sometimes they do but they don't check. I'm speaking from experience

I never weighed it! And at check-in, none of the airlines every asked me to weigh it either. I'm sure it had to be over 7/9 kg but I was never asked to put it on the scale

If you take a laptop, tablet or any electronic device bigger than a cell phone keep it out of the bag till you get through security. They make you take it out. Found out that on my trip to scotland. Also keep all liquids separate and in a clear bag you have to take those out too at some airports.

Did you weigh the carry on? How much does it weigh? I am packing my stuff and it already exceeded the maximum weight (8kg max from the airlines) so I stopped stuffing the luggage with my clothes but there are some space left:( just want to know if you've ever had any issue with the maximum weight. Or is it okay as long as it's a cabin sized baggage? Thanks!

In a small, carry on suitcase, it won't go over the weight limit, because you don't have enough space to pack over the limit. Even if it feels heavy, it won't go over the limit, unless you are literally carrying rocks. I've experienced this with my checked luggage. I have a 24" medium hard sided suitcase. The airline limit for international flights is (usually) 50 pounds. I over pack mine, I could barely zip it closed, or lift it, and it weighs 35 pounds (I've previously reached max 38 pounds). Even though I was under the weight limit, I couldn't place even one extra item, like souvenirs, but my husband's suitcase had the extra room for that!

I LOVE this! This is how I pack, I always roll stuff to put around the rods on the bottom. I thought I was the only one who didn’t or use packing cubes 😊

I'm assuming you didn't buy anything? Went to Athens, Santorini, Naxos and Mykonos (my favourite.) I did buy several items over the 2 weeks. Booking a trip to Italy, prefer not to carry a suitcase due to flight connections, trains, buses, cobblestone streets, etc. Just don't know what I would do if I didn't have space to buy stuff! LOL Unfortunately, heavy backpacks won't work for me.

No, I'm not a huge souvenir person so I didn't need the extra space for buying anything. All I got was sweater from Santorini because the wind made it super chilly and some sandals because the ones I brought broke. Suitcases can be tricky on cobblestone streets, but like you, I don't like heavy backpacks haha I'd prefer just to roll my suitcase over the cobblestone streets if I have to.

The travel pillow seems unnecessary and takes up too much space I would just use the sweater. A thin sweater and a very thin windbreaker can be talked into each other and wrapped around your waist while you're going through the airport without having to pack it you always wear your bulky shoes on flight also. and I wouldn't have such a huge thick journal that takes up way too much space when you're only using a few pages or better yet journal everything onto an app on your phone and then you can later write it down when you get home.. good ideas tho!

I'm only traveling for 6 days and I packed so much to have options with outfits based on my moods and how comfortable i feel. Packed like this and it wasnt even hard to close the suitcase, haven't packed the extra shoes on the bag either. saves a lot of space with this method, def love it

usually you can take as many liquids as you want, they just have to be in bottles of 100ml or less, that's all

@@alexvn003 In most European airlines maximum amount of liquids per person is 1 liter. It's really important to check that before flight because I saw twice when people had to throw some of their bottles during security checks

Great video! I am a carryon only traveler too, I’ll never go back! Instead of the backpack I have the Lo & Son’s Deluxe Catalina Tote bag because it has a shoe compartment at the bottom and a pass through sleeve that fits over the luggage handle. I have the same Away Carry-on ❤️

You can always limit the pieces to mix and match them and do laundry while away. I do that all the time no matter where I go.

nancy onorad the ‘resort’ I’m going to is going to be opening back up early June. They’re going to do something for corona like only letting 50% of rooms be booked. I think other places will do it too

You're allowed to have both a carry on suitcase and personal item to bring on the plane with you. The carry on goes above. The personal item just has to fit underneath the seat in front of you, and my backpack did. :)

I always use a carry-on and a backpack with about the same dimension as in this video without problem. Each company put the dimensions allowed on their website for both items, you can check before if your items are the right dimensions. And the normal company - not the low cost - accept 1 carry-on and 1 personal item.

@@katieassim4578 The low cost compagnies usually don't allow as much space for carry-on and personal item. Usually, you must pay even for a carry-on. go check on the web if you are interested in the low cost compagnies, I am not.

Nope! I know my cycle, so I personally didn't need to pack any extra tampons. And if I had started it, I could have always gotten tampons there in Greece.

That's awesome! We traveled throughout Europe for 7 weeks with just a carry on and it was plenty. But coming back home, we had to buy and extra bag to bring the things we bought along the way.

This was my follow up video. I filmed this after I got home, showing everything that I packed and brought with me. I ended up using everything in the video. The only thing I wish I would have brought was my own jacket (aside from the denim one), so I wouldn't have had to buy the white hoodie that was shown in this video in Santorini.

I am pretty Lufthansa has a- one free checked luggage allowance for 50lbs. The weather in Athens in May is not too hot and too cold.

Imagine having to take out all those underwear when they ask you to open your bag to check the quids~ Guys just because most of the YTbers somehow got lucky with passing the TSA requirements doesn't mean you can just follow them~ Pack accordingly so you know you're safe and ready during the security check~ Take out your liquids when you put your carry-on on the table and make sure they all fit in ONE 1 quart plastic bag~ A zipped transparent bag works too as long as they are almost the same size with the bag they give out in the airport~ My friend made me lol at the airport when she asked for 2.... thought she could get one for each bag she carries~ She was never stopped during her trips last year thinking as long as it is under 100 mL she's good... Well she was finally caught and I can't believe she never knew that she has to fit them in one bag! She packed them in 2-3 toiletry/pouches omg~ xD

Imperatrice1 I travel 2-5 times a week and take the same amount of toiletries as shown. Never a problem. Ever.

I'm going to France and Switzerland for 23 days next summer. Last vacation abroad was in 2016 to Israel. I don't think I'd have the guts to try to pack everything in a carry-on and backpack! Sounds like a good challenge, though! Besides, I use an insulin pump...half the space would just go for the supplies for it :(

If you put your phone charger and earbuds in it's own ziplock bag you have easy access without tangling cords.

How did you get through security with that many toiletries? The last few times I've traveled they've been very strict about the one-quart size bag rule!
