Currently fans get at least 6 home games a year in non WC years (3 NH touring tests + 3 during the home and away TRC). If the NH touring component is scrapped will the expanded TRC be home and away with two tests against each competing nation (i.e. 10 rounds with 5 at home) or just one game v each competing nation per year (i.e. 2 or 3 home games)? In Australia it's already hard enough to share the home games around the cities with the already minimal test season. Offering less will be a big mistake. Also, the way World Rugby is pushing games in third-party growth markets, I daresay the final will be shopped around to Hong Kong, Chicago etc again reducing the chance that home fans will be given another opportunity to see their team play.

There is a problem with the U20 … change coach and little preparation = disaster in the RWC. There is a problem with the youngers formation. They must resolve this.

The fall of All Black rugby actually started with the u/20 championship failings...I remember watching the breakdown in 2018/2019 with them saying its ok AB's didn't make the semi's (I couldn't believe what I was hearing)....then French became dominant in u/20s...then No South Africa in Super Rugby for that physicality...then Ian Foster being coach...its actually a miricle how AB's are in the top 3 in world rugby.

It will be expensive to be sure for tickets. But the TV rights will obviously generate most of the income. Hopefully there'll be enough depth in the pockets to play some game in emerging nations and bring Rugby to the fore as a major international weekly sport.

This should rather have been done as an international club competition, based on a similar style to a champions league. Firstly it will taint the World Cup no matter what the commentators want to say. Money speaks volumes and tradition and value is being seriously put into question here. What happens to the Lions, tours and test matches etc. A global club championship would have created a totally different vibe. Opened the door for small clubs in less known pastures both in terms of finance, and growth of local structures (disemenate administrative and game skill) as well as give a moment of opportunity for unknown talent to make a name for itself and get opportunities on a bigger stage (ie bigger clubs will spot and buy random talent - which will bring in much needed funds and serve as a catalyst to rising talent). Ok have qualifying rounds or a qualifying competition for the smaller national clubs (this could be fun to watch and give lower level teams a nice challange to win) then maybe do early rounds regionally to avoid difficult flights, and also give the number of spots based on competiton quality. But how cool would it be to see All Blacks having to play on a pitch with pot holes, mud and an insane crowed in the humidity of Fiji, or boys from Scotland breathing deep sucking in 36 degree oxygen 1700 meteres above sea level in the mountains of Windhoek (Namibia). Limit the number of smaller teams, if you are worried about unblanced scores, but keep them in the competition to provide variety and character. It will mean national sides have to start re-evaluating their foriegn player policies. Restricting talent through non commercial means (ie international representation) is simply wrong - both in terms of individual skill ownership (aka player rights) and simple capitalism (current structures represent non market driven monopoly's). At the same time the money earned ... should be spread fairly with a large amount of support given to lower teer national clubs. Just think you could have greatly talented but overlooked kiwi or South African players taking their talent to lower teer nations (in order to get a second chance) in so helping talented players in these lesser know clubs, come through and earn big contracts else where. It will add so much colour, varaince and experience to the game. And thought difficult it will give players such a breath of fresh air in their season. I can just imagine a club like the Crusaders resting playersand sending a second team to a Tongan club and getting taken to the cleaners on a perfect night of madness. Keep it knock out right from the beginning to give little teams a bigger chance (ie you only need one perfect night). I'm a rugby fan but if rugby wants to sort out it's finances it needs to think a bit along the lines of football. Think about how to make the game more universally attractive (ie give every one a stake interest on their own terms), stop being so snobby ... and look at other sports to see what has and has not worked. The global spread of the football game through unrestricted international employment and opportunity has lead to an evenly spread World Cup. We are past amateurism, thats done ... but lets find a new core ideal - lets try to make the game and it's rewards based as much as possible on pure talent ... and not as it is currently is on a mixture of talent, luck of nationality and opportunity.

If you truly think that promotion/relegation will actually exist in this World League, then you're insane. All they had to do was have more T1 vs T2 matches. Also, the tours exist for a reason, I don't think the logistics of playing against Argentina, Japan and New Zeland in one month don't make any sense Edit: I love how they don't know anything about European rugby so they just straight up mention the Jaguares, a team that doesn't even exist since 2020 (the current version is not the same) because it's the only thing they know. Instead of talking about the strong points of the pumas, they just say they have "passion" lol they are being paid to be here

A tournament organised by the 6 nations and Sanzaar teams, and they think that the money will go to the second tier nations. It is a huge shame they do not know the impact this will have, specially if this show changes the opinions in fans in new zealand. I am a Spanish fan, and knowing that Spain will never play the best teams in the world removes the fan interest not only from the people watching at home, the biggest impact are the professional players, who know they will never have a chance to compete against the best teams in the world.

If you thought the local competition was wanting,just watch when you put another above it it'll just die. In Australia every state has a solid AFL competition and once AFL kicked off only the diehards went so crowds of up to 50,000 say in Perth never happened again and struggling to get 2000 whilst AFL averages over 60,000 now per game

Codie Taylor is not better than Taukei'aho... Just because the Crusaders won the comp doesnt undo the whole season, or last year when he was arguably the best AB and brought a whole new physicality to the pack

Brilliant for the RU of the country's yet I think club rugby and grass roots may suffer.. Crowds of the ospreys this year had been ave 3.000 lol 18 pounds to enter and watch.. Club rugby is the gate way to interest for all youngest Let's hope the extra money gets to the lower leagues

Good show team :) I get what Geoff is saying about Ardy coming off the bench and i agree with him as blasphemous as it may seem (and i live in Wellington) but this is world cup year and we know how the northern teams have developed their game over recent years and they are reaping the rewards, accordingly we no longer lead and must adapt our game to get back to the top. A good big hard man will mostly defeat a a good hard small man just on sheer size alone. Go the ABs!!! ✊✊✊

It’s a disgraceful spit in the face of Tier-2 countries, who have to wait until 2030 to even have a chance to play the Top-12. That promotion/relegation will be one-sided when they’ve had years of high quality competition vs Tier-2s who have to play in the lower leagues all that time.

Tier 1 used to play two or three games against tier 2 each year, now won't play any, that's not good for the game. Just the old knobs, keeping control of the money, looking after tier 1 again.
