Had the chance to see a Pajo concert last year and talk to him a bit after the show. I asked about his time in Interpol. He said two things: the guys in the band are great and Carlos basslines are really difficult.
@@nadafro3116 not even jail bass line is pathetically easy for pajo, kessler wrote that primarily, its very predictable and easy. you can still see the flair carlos added to it but he was mad he couldn't use his own bass line for the song.
David Pajo was in the bass during 2010. Brad Truax is touring with them since 2011. People keep asking for Carlos, but he's gone since 2010. One of the saddest news ever...
@@arielnavarrete8380 thats not what that look was for. he was upset the stadium wouldnt let them play one more song for the encore when the crowd really wanted. paul and everyone else loved pajo and knew he wasnt gonna last long but they were thrilled to have had him for such little time
wouldve killed to hear what Carlos originally wanted to do with the bassline for this song. I recall hearing him and Daniel got into a fight over how they wanted this songs bass to go.
@@bearzdlc2172 Sometimes I wonder if the outro is what Carlos wanted and that's kinda where some compromise went. I do think the main bassline is killer and credit Daniel there. They all added to each others' bits, whole better than sum of parts etc. Carlos came up with Daniel's tremolo in NYC
Great Paul! He does not just sing wonderfully, but always check that the performance takes place in a perfect way, gesticulating and interacting with invisible people on the stage! It is so even today and denotes his great personality.
I'd say without hesitating that Pajo was as good as if not better than Carlos music talent wise, but nobody can come close to how sexy and perfect Carlos was on stage. His presence is irreplaceable, Truax is like legit cringe. Might as well have a turd in a suit on stage sitting there doing nothing
I actually always tought that I precision would sound better than a JB for interpol kind of sound. For what I can hear, Carlos used a JB equalized without a lot of mids and brightness that is the trademark of the JBs.
Is Pajo using some kind of Overdrive in this? or is the Ampeg natural Gain cranked alll the way up?... This sounds sick, clean and when pushed hard it has a beutiful growl!... Can't find the exact rig from this guys, I've been asking a rig rundoun on premier guitar for years! now that they start touringI hope they do some

@billybutcher4995 I wouldn't be so sure after all Stevie Ray Vaughan plays Jimi Hendrix better than Jimi Hendrix that's actually how I was introduced to Stevie Ray Vaughan as a kid starting out guitar I was a huge Jimi Hendrix fan he was my number 1 and I tried to emulate until I was introduced to Stevie and realized what a sloppy guitar player Jimi was great innovator no doubts probably the greatest
Yup, a few people saying how amazing this guy is, he's alright but just doesn't cut it. Carlos had a very peculiar sound and style. They never been the same without him.
@@julenreus5777 Carlos sounds pretty good live on every song except Not Even Jail. His bass tone live just isn’t dirty enough. This guys tone is perfect.
@@billybutcher4995 lmfao you literally havent seen any videos of carlos playing not even jail live. the p bass tone in this is weak and muddy af. nothing like the sexy ass gritty growl carlos' jazz had. listen to how he sounded in pemberton 2008.
Do you have the complete show videos??? I guess they also played Rest my Chemistry and C'mere.....do you have 'em ???? I would be great if you upload those ones too :)
@@bearzdlc2172 than Dave Pajo, yes…of course there’s no comparison to Carlos. You would have to have been to multiple shows on this specific tour to even know the context from what I was speaking about as it was their first tour after Carlos quit...
@@GeoffreyHerbert david pajo is even better than carlos d himself. brad truax is garbage. his tone is awful and he plays incorrectly and messes up a fuck ton.
@@GeoffreyHerbert ive seen almost all of pajo's live shows with them, he played like a robot like carlos, never missing notes and always had a great tone. brad has a disgusting tone and doesn't even try to replicate carlos d's sound and makes errors nonstop
Nice WW2 German m43 Field/Ski Cap there Sam, for what its worth most people won't recognise it. Nor should they, a hats a hat, plus probabily Eastern Block issue. But if it were a black one or with a deaths head on it would you wear it?. Just pointing out how careful and a minefield a small honest mistake can take, how far do you go, boycott Hugo Boss for their historical dealings?!?!......look at what media did Bowie.....
The baseguitar is way too big for such a small guy. He plays all the notes but never quite learn the song. Am I right they used to have an Italian baseplayer? He was really good
