Along with quite a bit of utility work! Our ventilation and dewatering utilities needed some help, so we knocked that out before drilling out and blasting. From the color of the cuttings and the behavior of the drill, we could tell we'd intersected some quantity of quartz. What we didn't expect was the banded sulfides! Cross your fingers for good assay results...

Always quite interesting to see what goes on underground in an active, working mine. Glad to see you’re still living your dream, Jim!

great explanation of the blast sequence ....would have loved to hear more about the delays and how important they are for a clean shot with an explanation of pre split vs smooth hole for the back .... now the fun park ....mucking it out ....keep'em coming

Thanks! We avoid presplit because of the additional drill time, but it's good stuff for final highwalls, civil tunneling, and similar. I got it mucked out in about four hours last night, which I'm fairly happy with considering I was jumping between the LHD and truck while Pecos fixed a pump.

After watching Abandoned And Forgotten Places for a number of years, it's really interesting to watch you guys working and have a bit of background knowledge as to what you're doing and kit that I've seen laid forgotten and covered in dust and rust in those videos how it's used in a live mine. Subscribed for sure, this is really cool to watch.

Another Gly fan! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I explored this district some time ago when everything was idled, then happened to be in the right place at the right time to have a role in firing things back up. It's been a learning experience going through and resurrecting things.

My track loader, in its former ownership was used to mine gravel from a creek. As a result of that, the tensioners were totally rotted out and I had to build new ones, since old ones simply no longer exist.

Suggestion: get some very wide shipping wrap [palletizing wrap] and go around the bag a few wraps to seal it up. [its just super-sized cling wrap, but its really excellent to seal up air leaks below 12 PSI]

The sticks for shattering, and the ANFO for lofting.

Great videos! Flex tape makes an extra wide tape prolly work great for patching your clean air ventilation.

I like to drive the burn 50% greater than the shot holes. Gives a better initial opening all the way back to the [future] new face, reduces crowning and shot choking.

That's been done to good effect on this very drift, using a Gardner Denver 3100A air track drill to drill a pilot hole and ream it out to about 6". The electric compressor can't provide enough air; I've begun studying the old diesel compressor (it's got a hand-crank pony motor) to resurrect it and hopefully start running the air track again!

Cool. Thanks for the technical video. I am guessing PET is petroleum ether?

First time viewer. Complicated blast sequence and hole pattern. Where is this mine?
@Porty1119
@Porty1119 3 месяца назад
It's a fairly typical pattern and delay design; there's quite a bit more to drifting shots than surface bench shots. This is in the southwestern US.
