The US systematically reproduces these social structures, because there are people who benefit from that. Prisoners are used as free labor and prison owners don't want there to be less crime. And how embarrassing for their children, when they get older, to eventually see this on the internet… especially for the one child whose mother said she regrets. Sad how they laugh everything off. Between them, 6 kids brought into the world who will most likely deal with lifelong trauma due to their mothers’ actions. It absolutely bewilders me that so many people bring life into this world without taking parenthood seriously. You literally made a human being, and have complete disregard first that child. Ugh, this episode was particularly triggering for me. Maybe because my little girl is the center of my world, and I feel for their her kids now, and for what they’re going to go through in the future.

A bad childhood is one in which you're abused and/or neglected. Or one where you had nobody and grew up in the foster system being moved from home to home. Those people never say they had good childhoods. These girls had grandparents that were essentially their parents, and they say they were well cared for (didn't grow up in poverty or with no food available). That makes sense to me.
