Loved ths interview. For many soul fans my age in the UK we saw Niecy on Top Of The Pops singing Free (#1 in the charts!) back in 1976/77. They even used a the BBC live band who were well known for hitting the beers in the bar and being a bit rough in their playing but I still loved it. I bought Niecy's LPs in the 70s and fell in love with that whole era of soul where the chords and harmonies got more jazzy. Love the long version of Free on her first album and fell in love with the sound of the Fender Rhodes and Solina string synthesizer... really influenced my whole taste in music. Deniece is so down to earth... love her vibe!
