Nice! I haven't been this excited about an album in years. I think the fans are gonna eat it up when it's released. The upcoming acoustic tour is all sold-out by the looks of it, so feels like it's going to be a great year for Devin.

I was listening to that empath album in the car and when that singularity song came on, I could immediately recognize that is was Steve Vai on the solo.

Can anyone imagine how outstanding and phenomenal it would be if Steve vai and Devin townsend do another album.... We all need that to happen

I saw one of the Vicious PXD prototypes (#2, I think), had the wingtips (some i guess didn't) and I can't remember whether they were flames or diamonds, for sale and just couldn't give it a proper home at the time; also had a shot at a pewter one, but unsure if was early production or what but same thing applies, probably could have scraped the cash together but didn't feel right putting it where I was at the time so I passed it up to someone who hopefully gave it a good home where it was loved and played and maintained/stored as it should be.

Wow, the Vai thing, just brutally honest, "he's done more for me than ... anybody" :-o and I can imagine, I mean, I wonder how much Dev learned from Vai about studio recording and all that jazz in the Sex & Religion days ... but I also remember an interview with Gene Hoglan where he talked about Dev asking Vai to let SYL stay at his house, which was empty due to repainting or deratization or something, and Vai gave him a rent price of $150 per night or something, to which Dev replied he'll only pay that if Vai personally caresses his balls each night :D

Only one suggestion, really. have some divots cut out to set magnets in so you can drop Tonewood style amps, et al, and other accessories people are using magnetic attachment to keep their thimbles and slides on, but it also seems like a way to help create access and plumbability to an instrument without breaking the ocntinuity of the tonewood surface too badly. There are lines but there wouldn't be patches, like with a plastic cover - I believe in maintaining the resonance and energy retention and regeneration capabilities of the woods in acoustic guitars and stuff like traditional built in preamps create these hard plastic-y hollow-ish bricks stuck in the guitar that I feel the tone has to work extra hard around to keep from getting flattened a bit. But if those holes had tonewood plates that had good coupling along the seams, mass added by magnets actually can be tuned to assist the guitar in regeneration of its own natural broadcast and heterodyned frequencies and partial tones/tone multiples. PRS was just talking about tuning pickups to particular notes; maybe get some sig DEVIN TOWNSEND PRS BUILT pickups tuned to C

Think how strange the question would be if he asked "who are some of your favorite white artists?". Devin is correct, sexism is dumb.

This is a good interview. However, the interviewer comes across as aloof. I also didn't like the question about which female artists he liked.

No wonder Empath was so uneven. When you only listen to crap ambient sounds all day, of course you have a lack of inspiration.
