Dang, I was so excited when I heard the description of the show thinking "here's another person who thinks Gen Z isn't lost". But then it turned out it's the same person I already heard on the Dave Rubin Report. Still would love to hear someone else present a similar thesis.
I think the point about screens is so important. I know there are many good aspects to our new technology but I really do think that overall they are having a net negative impact - taking people away from real life interactions, messing with the dopamine receptors in the brain, causing addictive behaviour and shortening attention spans, etc. There really is so much damage that is being caused and social media platforms are specifically designed to manipulate and hook people in. I know that I personally, a massive lover of reading, have found it more difficult to focus on reading books and I can recognise that all this social media, apps, short clips, constant stimulation is having an impact on my brain. It’s frightening to think of the impact it’s having on young children and teenagers and the development of their brains. Add to that dysfunction the social aspect, inability to deal with emotions, lack of resilience, etc. I have also noticed a lot of narcissism in young people today, which is also a consequence of being bombarded with all this unnatural new technology. Our brains are simply not designed to deal with it all.
I don't know what about me a black, leftist, bisexual, afro pagan, made RU-vid think I wanted to hear anything from some conservative that thinks me and my friends and family's existence is some problem.
